IT'S FINALLY NANOWRIMO!!!! The chaos dice chose my project, my advent calendar is delicious and inspiring, and now it's time to get to writing. ✍️ Also I've decided: this is finally my year to update my project each day. Personally, I'd force my main character to visit somewhere full of dirt and away from civilisation, he's a major germaphobe and a man who loves his luxuries. One of my favourite lines from day one is a little odd without context but here it is: “I’d been sure I was a man,” she says, shifting on her feet and peering down at her naked body. “I assume I was wrong.” I'm also going to tackle the badges as they come, no pressure on myself! This is my first proper NaNoWriMo, and I managed 1,688 words today. They are sloppy, and they may not be much, but it's the most I have written since I graduated university last year, and I'm trying to feel proud of myself. My project is set in a very cold, snowy, arctic region. It's literally always cold, snowing, and farmers have to grow their crops inside big greenhouses so that the local people can have vegetables. I'm pretty sure my MC would adore a trip to anywhere where the weather is even somewhat warm. I did just over 2,100 words today and I'm super happy about it. It seems to be going well so far, and I'm glad to be a bit ahead of the game.

Hi! I'm also being a bit of a rebel! We have family coming for the week of thanksgiving so I'm writing the novel in 30 days, I just started a little early! Day one of real NaNo went well for me, I'm already over 15k into the draft and it is coming together super well! I planned more for this NaNo than any I've done before and this pantser might just become a planner. This is my favorite bit I've written so far... “Frayada?” My voice was almost completely swallowed by wind rushing through the evergreens all around. Nothing. The ground didn’t shake. I didn’t hear a voice speaking to me. Not even on the wind. No storms. No eclipse. There was absolutely nothing at all that indicated that this place was magical. Or that Frayada even knew that I had finally returned. I sat back on my heels, my feet still partially in the freezing water, and started to wring the water out of my clothes. “What kind of welcome is this?”

That quate goes really well with my "project" this Nano, which I nicknamed "Project Delete". I had such a hard time deciding for anything, and I procrastinate way too much for all sorts of reasons, so this year I'll be writing things intended to be deleted. I can obviously keep things if I really want, but only if I *really* want to, as I really do intend to delete all 50k words! This way I hope I won't think so much about what others might want to read, what they'll think of my writing, if the grammar is bad, or finding those golden nuggets of perfection, of writing bad characters, plot lines etc... Hopefully I can develop a habit to just write whatever - then worry about refinement later... x)

I'd like to see my character on a battlefield just so they can see that things aren't always as easy as they'd like to think. I started writing as the clock struck midnight for me, and got 3k words, and am writing a bit more before the day ends. Love this quote from Marie Howe on a writing exercise she gave her students: "Just tell me what you saw this morning like in two lines. I saw a water glass on a brown tablecloth, and the light came through it in three places. No metaphor. And to resist metaphor is very difficult because you have to actually endure the thing itself, which hurts us for some reason." It reminds me to strip down my language, to not try and make every sentence a poem, not strive for a connection of words that have never been seen before - but to find beauty and simplicity in regular things, and make the reader find it too.

Love your vlogs Kate! Hearing you type is so comforting 😂 My favorite quote when starting any project is: “The scariest moment is always just before you start.” - by Stephen King I feel like that quote helps me take the first step without overthinking things too much and letting my anxiety take over. Day 1 of NaNo went better than expected 🙌🏽 My daily word count is 2,000 words since I’m only writing for 25 days instead of 30. And surprisingly I was able to hit and pass my daily goal with a total of 2,144 words. Here’s hoping I continue on this chill path 😅😂 I have two main characters for this project. A would definitely love to go to the countryside in France or Scotland or Italy. And B would love to go to South Korea and then follow A wherever they went lol

This is my first NanoWriMo! I just got off work and I’m taking a minute to have a cup of coffee and then I’m going to dive in. I work in childcare and I take care of young toddlers so my brain always has to have a few minutes to reset once I get home. I’m going to try and get 2,000 minimum today. I need to write more on Mondays and Tuesdays, because my time on Wednesdays and Thursdays is more limited. Where would my main character want to go? Probably some remote cabin away from people. She’s definitely not a people person….at least until I turn her poor world upside down and make helping people find love her very destiny (evil laugh)

There is actually a bunch of travel in my book because it is about a girl who finds out her aunt is dead, so she travels from reading to bath (where her parents live) and then to Edinburgh for the funeral, before returning to reading. I think that if she could go on any vacation she would chose Korea, because that is a part of her ancestry and also her cousin just moved there (that’s what my webcomic is about!). I wrote 5,615 words in the first day, with 2.5k of those coming between midnight and 3am. I think that having outlined the chapters recently as well as having written 20k in the manuscript to begin with was a big help! My favourite quotes I wrote today are: “Her lips were so warm and inviting, so soft in the best ways, and then her words, though gentle, still send a spike of fear and shame through her chest.” And “The way time eats at memories like acid on photographs is unforgivable.”

You got this! I think my main character would love a staycation. She's totally a Hufflepuff, despite being a vampire. I'm trying to work on the work-write-life balance, so I'm working towards not writing on Sundays and on the holidays. My favorite line that I wrote was: "In accordance with the Pact of Powers, the Threshold clause is invoked whereas all who wish no ill will or harm may enter. My favorite quote I wrote yesterday is: “I wished for him nothing heroic.” And I can’t remember the exact quote, but I believe it’s Steve Martin and it essentially says, “Considering I started with a blank page, I think I did pretty well.” That always makes me feel better about my writing, even if it’s not exactly how I wanted it to go. And my main character would coincidentally also go to a remote island, where he and his family vacation once a season.

These past few days I've been stressing about a project for nanowrimo, nothing feeling right and feeling uninspired. But I've managed to have one, though only one act outlined. I’ve actually recently begun writing three books myself! The first one is a grimdark cyberpunk action fantasy about an android samurai bounty hunter woman named Mara Varens. The second one is a psychological cosmic horror novel about dementia and the limits of forgiving people for committing human atrocities. It’s called Forest of Guilt. The third one is a poetry book about mental illness, trauma, social criticism and other dark topics written in the style of vulgar heavy metal songs. It’s called Soliloquies of Many Sufferings.

Haha, my entire story focuses around my characters going on a trip! It’s a road trip/family bonding novel, and the characters are headed to Mesa Verde National Park because it is a place that Drew, one of the characters, is interested in, and this is his senior trip before he leaves for college! My first day writing went really well! I think I saw a video that you (or maybe some other booktuber) did a few years ago attempting to write 10k in a day, and I wanted to try that- I got to 9,596 words before midnight, so I think it went well!! Thank you for the awesome time lapse of the cat helping to deflate a mattress LOL I got a kick out of it. My main character would probably go see a boxing match in Vegas at this point in the story. Day 1 went slowly but well enough! My favorite quote that I wrote today was "Bernard was a giant of a man, bigger than anyone else Sam had ever seen, though the shadows of people are always a little bigger than the people themselves ever were." My favorite inspirational quote is from Akira Kurosawa, "to be an artist means to never ever one's eyes" it reminds me to pay attention to what's around me, reminds me not shy away from any subjects, and also reminds me to tell it like it is rather than to fuss about what it should or shouldn't be like.

For today, I was planning on writing the epiloge and maybe the first chapter, but I got so frustrated over the fact that I don't know what happens and how should I paint the situation that I almost quit. On the first day. But literally, I wrot it down three different times in three different ways that she is a secretary. Oh and this happened on the spread of two pages. Since then I decided to take it as a zero point one draft and just go with it. It doesn't matter if it has no sense. It will if I finish and if not, it was the doing of Vanessa. (She is a god of the demons and one of the demon princesses. They are two different people but can be blamed so idk. idk.)

Day one is still happening for me! I got 662 words on some midnight kick off sprints, and I’m hoping to get at least to 2,000 by the end of the day! I can’t say my characters are much better off. I jumped in to a middle scene because I’ve been excited about it. They’re very much in a heated argument which sucks for them but I’m having a great time.

It's my first time actually committing to a novel for Nano and it's really fun! Usually I write scripts so it's been really nice to get to get back into a more descriptive format - and I love my characters sm already! If my main character were to go on a trip I think they'd go to an ocean! They live in an underground city formed from a coal seam so they don't get to be not soot-covered very often. My fave quote so far is: "Maybe the Archives of The Upper Ridge would like to have an ex-cultist working in their archives, ever thought of that? I could be a unique point of view for their dewy-decimal system.” good luck to everyone!!

YAY! Congrats on starting off strong with 2k! I hit 1,800-ish when it struck midnight, and then didn't have time to write at all on the 1st (which was why I stayed up lol). I'm writing a regency era romance novel, so my main character would likely want to visit somewhere outside of Europe! She talks about wanting to see India, so that's what I'll say!

My first line for NaNoWriMo: Death is (in) a constant state of flux, the thrown barer for being the glutting for the living. Death takes 178,000 lives each day, 7,425 each hour, 120 per minute. Project Report: My Day one has just started. I am going to be a NaNo Rebel. I don't think I am going to be able to win NaNo, due to this being the first time im actually writing a creative project since 2017. My main goal is to get out of this longest writing drought i've been in. I also want to not self sabotage myself when it comes to what I love to do. I know that I could write a novel, but i have anxiety to actually finish a project. It's easier to gain new ideas than actually comitting to said ideas. Im not confident in my writing at all, so i've been holding back. I want to break that cycle so that's my main goal.

If my main character was going on vacation, it would be to the South of France. He spent four years on the Western Front as a WWI Soldier, and longs for fresh air and ocean views. Day 1 went pretty well for me, I am writing a historical fiction so only got 500 words in because I wanted everything to be historically accurate (on my first draft, I know!). Favorite quote was: "The note was water damaged and faded, but it read "Le Dome Cafe, 108 Bd du Montparnasse, Robert Dubois'. We had made a promise to meet there for a drink after the war had ended, if we were still alive. It had been two long years of brutally cold winters and bloody battles on the Western Front, two years since I had seen Robert alive, but I intended to keep my end of the bargain up, if only to honor a fallen comrade". We introduce one of the main characters and the story kicks off from here. Favorite writing quote is by Charles Bukowski "if it doesn’t come bursting out of you in spite of everything, don’t do it. unless it comes unasked out of your heart and your mind and your mouth and your gut, don’t do it.”"

So I went a little crazy for this Nano the November I am doing double the word count so my goal is 100k and my plan was to get to double the amount I needed for the day which was 6,668 but I got to 6,000 words and started wondering if I could make it a 10k day. So here is my word count for the day 10,090 words and I just finished not ten minutes ago and I realized I done 3 days work in one day. I have to work tomorrow but my plan was to wake up early and write before getting to work. And then using Google Docs to work on my story story while on break this month is going to be interesting to say the least
