Tallyllyn Railway - Nant Gwernol Blockpost
Nant Gwernol station was built and opened as part of the Talyllyn Railway’s “extension” works to reach the original end of the line where the railway met the quarry railway system at the foot of the lowest of the quarry inclines. Passenger traffic never normally ran to this point there being only sidings here. In 1976 the railway extended its line along the track bed from Abergynolwyn to reach Nany Gwernol and a station with platform , station office and Blockpost were also built at the same time. All trains terminate here and the locomotive runs round the train before heading back to Abergynolwyn. The simple 3 lever ground frame at this location originally came from the Derwent Valley Railway. The Blockpost which is rarely used contains all the same equipment as elsewhere along the line to allow trains to be fully signalled between here and Abergynolwyn.
