I could only say that living with such passion and create something that exceeds yourself, something that was born in your head or heart and make it a little bit more real, is something wonderful. For many this is only a song, for others it could be a love letter for peace, in these times where we all need a little hope and a tender hand to give and receive. You are great Urasawa.

Literally Kenji, but also a genius mangaka. The biggest chad.

He is pronouncing the Ls in "Sudalalala" and "Gutalalala". Normally Japanese people would pronounce them to what people in the west would view as an R, because Ls do not exist in their language, (well technically Rs dont either but that's not the point). Really shows how passionate he was to relearn how to pronounce something he's said for his whole life just for a song that was made for his manga.

Bob Lennon is a mixture of Bob Dylan and John Lennon. I can derive this cuz there's a harmonica solo which is a signature of Bob Dylan's songs plus Naoki Urasawa's singing style is identical to that of Bob's and the lyrics seem to be John Lennon style. This song is a love letter to the two legendary artists. Truly beautiful.

When I saw the panels with the chords I immediately remembered Urusawa wrote music. So I scrambled onto RU-vid and searched this video up. And I played the song while I read the Kenji’s Song chapter for the first time. This was a beautiful experience

As amazing and impactful the scenes in this manga are when this song is present, I can’t imagine the feeling watching it as an anime while actually hearing this song

His singing isn't that bad, i think he goes out of tune intentionally, it's more of a stylistic choice.

Still love this song. 20th Century Boys was the first manga I've ever read when I was 12 yo at the library (I was lucky to find this at the library) Now I'm a great fan of Naoki, and still buying each of his books.

It's really cool seeing Urasawa performing this version of Bob Lennon, it sounds like a hybrid between the guitar and vocals of Bob Lennon proper with the lyrics of Gutalala Sudalala.

I love that he isn't a very polished musical performer it makes it so much more raw and REAL. There is something beautiful about watching someone perform a song for an audience for the first time without having spent a lifetime honing a their skill set and just laying their heart bare. Urusawa and Mirua are my absolute favorite mangaka, extremely grateful Urusawa is still with us.
