Naomi Osaka won her first Grand Slam in Flushing Meadows defeating Serena Williams in straight sets. Check out the extended highlights from her finals match in NYC.
Dude this Osaka kid can play. All her matches have been against so many tough opponents. Yet she finds a way to break through with her shotmaking. And she does this keeping a veneer of cuteness all the while.
She is the greatest talent since decades. And she will become stronger and stronger. She will learn how to play on the net and when this will happen she will be nearly unbeatable. Nobody can know, but I feel strongly that she will become in ten years as great as Serena Williams if not better. She has already won three slams and it's only the beginning.
Yes. Has been for quite sometime. Their rejection of Novak Djokovic in the 2015 final Vs Federer was absolutely disgusting. Djoker did silence them with his gameplay afterwards. In this match, it was not just the booing at the end, there was premature celebration from the crowd when the point was going on.
they were nasty and was on the mother's side. glad Osaka won the AO and got a proper celebration. SO GLAD the bully lost in the semis, spared the world another meltdown
Serena was not the favorite in this match. Osaka was seeded higher, she played better during the tournament and had already beaten Serena 6-3 6-2 in their only previous match.
Such a bad match for Naomi Osaka. Although she won her first grand slam and won against her biggest idol in tennis, the crowd booed her and Serena let her down
@@the1whoplayz how? At the send of the day Serena is human. She was gracious to Naomi. She only has a problem with the umpire and that’s it. Pls leave Serena alone.
@@armoniboss8950 in ten years or a little more Naomi will be the GOAT. Believe me, the girl is dynamite. Physically super-strong, mentally super-strong, very fast on the court (Serena actually does not move at all), excellent forehand and backend (maybe the most powerful toghether with those of Serena but Naomi 's forehand is often unpredictable), best serve at the same level of Serena. She already won 3 Slams. In ten years she'll have won 24 or 25.
what I really love is the respect of her culture... she always bows to her opponent during the 'handshake' as an Asian I am not a big bow wow wow person but that says a lot about her upbringing well done to a humble serena annihilator
@Thisisfakegucci. In the context of Tennis, it is kind of accurate. Serena's reputation was gone after that outburst. It was the beginning of the end of Serena's career. A graceful departure would have done wonders for her reputation (e.g. like how Pete Sampras quietly walked away after defeat by Federer).
When Serina Williams cannot overpower her component, she looses. Osaka dominated in every aspect. So glad to see someone can match Serena's power. Osaka has powerful serve, good stroke, quickness, and strong mentality. She can win over 10 Slam Grams.
@@analopes312 EXATLY!! Serena is far beyond her prime! Naomi is just entering her prime. Serena in her prime Ive NEVER SEEN NOTHING LIKE! How quickly people forget lol
@Ana Lopes Serena was also old and kn her mid-30s in 2012-214. Serena's best year was 2002 when she was young, non-fat and fast. In 2002 she won 3 Slams. In the 2010s Serena got a bit fat and lost her speed.
This is a game to remember. The courage of young lady against the experience of champ-what a match up!! Naomi is a cut above many Tennis players and it shows in her demeanour and reaction during the game. What a champ this young Lady will be, all class and lesson to all up coming sports players.
Princess of tennis how? That is premature. She will never maybe win as much as Hingis or Wozniacki did in their career. People keep saying she is the new Serena? That is disrespectful. Just read the statistics of Venus and see Osaka is out of depth thus far.
Agree, not only she is the best at the moment, but she is humble and a real role model for our youth, that makes her a princess Serena may be the one with the most wins in the history of tennis, but sure not the best tennis player and sure not a role model, she was never a princess to me
Naomi's forehand was totally overpowering in this match. The one at 5:05 is a good example, not many can hit a kill shot from that far behind the baseline, and with such safety margins too. Oh, and that passing shot is money.
I find it hilarious when something happens in one country and people automatically assumes all people from that country are that way. I've seen soccer games that make this crowd seem civilized; however, I don't think the countries involved in the match is a true representation of the people it represents. Grow up and stop being so bigoted.
I’d say both ladies played well. It’s just that Osaka played better, and unfortunately Serena was too preoccupied with the chair umpire towards the end to actually figure out how to stay in the match.
This is the match that made me loose respect for Serena Williams...she was suppose to offer her support to this outstanding woman yet she just made her feel bad for her hard work and winning
Well done Naomi Osaka! She is now an Australian Open Champion & the new world No1! The American crowd & Serena Williams are a DISGRACE! I'm glad Naomi Osaka gave Serena what she deserves, which is a good kick up the arse!
Australian Open Serena absorbed the most humiliating defeat in the history of tennis. Naomi gets her second consecutive grand slam win in a spectacular fashion. She becomes the new queen of tennis. Justice is served...Case closed.
Pity on you lol......i love how ppl r scared of Serena as she is the goat at the end....hahaha.....u r just scared and no one gives a fuck about your comment..... except some jealous bitches ofc XD
First Set: Trailing 1-3 Serena was visibly tired, panting she was taking very slow walks to the base line on her serves. She started going for outright winners when her muscle strength from baseline was challenged and overcome by Osaka. At 1-4 she charges the net to find that Osaka had some brilliant shots to pass her while at the net. She fell back and could then just about break Osaka to a score of 2-5. Osaka comfortably took the first set 6-2 hitting a brilliant deep serve while at 40-15. 2nd Set: At 1 all and down 15-30 Osaka refuses to be intimidated and wins a long rally exhausting Serena of that burst of power. Osaka keeps hitting deep and moving Serena from side to side yet, Serena manages to lead to 3-1. Osaka battles to 5-3 and then lets Serena have the next game on serve. Knowing she will take the set and match on her serve at 5-4. She does that and wins the Set & Match at 6-4. Serena used another tactic here. Fighting with the chair umpire, loudly, visibly and emphatically calling him names and using strong language right till the end, this tactic works on mentally weaker player who have their mental rhythm up set but, Osaka was mentally as tough as she was skilfully talented. She beat Serena both in skill and in psychological game. Well Done Osaka!
At those crucial break points Osaka plays so well. I'm here after she's won her 4th slam. I don't think Serena played poorly; she was just outplayed, period! We have another star!
For what Serena did in this match she should be consistently and very soon punished her behavior was disgusting and the American audience should be ashamed
8:47 shows Serenas anger management coach, coaching Serena how to stay cool, calm and collected. Parts of the crowd were actually booing Osaka for winning.
First time see Osaka play and I'm already a fan. The wide eyed rookie, humble, respect for her elders and the game. All in beating her idol, the superstar....classic david vs goliath....the ball placement and crazy ankle braking angles....just wow...
Whatever happened to this version of Osaka 😐😑much has changed. Everyone thought this is a new powerhouse in women's tennis, she's going to win many Slams, but slowly everything changed.
Osaka is a dog! She plays with her opponents emotions. Just when they feel they have a chance she pounces and shows them who's boss! I love it. That front handed swing is elusive.
@@deepakmahajan4978 I mean Serena is getting older we don't know what would have happened if they met before, years ago. But I have to admit she does struggle aganist Osaka
@@HighViscosity it's not a question of what's allowed. It's about the relevance of whether sanne respects Serena wiliams, of which there is none. And i find it odd that you liken my comment to Hitler.
Nice editing US open tennis. This match exemplified why I can never consider Serena to be the GOAT. Unblelievable competitor yes, Greatest of all Time...nope. She would have needed to demonstrate some grace and humility in defeat for that honour.
