As a former employee of Holocaust Museum Houston, I knew Naomi well. She would LOVE that you watched her story. When I worked at the Museum, I was so lucky as so many Survivors were still alive and I was able to become friends with so many. Friends of mine would often remark that they could never work where I did because of the sadness of the story. I looked at it differently. Despite all the efforts of the Nazis and others, people DID survive and go on to thrive and create incredible lives and families. Naomi is a great example of that. Knowing Survivors helped me recognize this aspect and to also recognize what the impact for me had I never met this people. Imagine the impact on the world if the 6 million Jews and millions of others had never been murdered. The world will never know what gifts it was cheated out of by the loss of all of these innocent people. As for the Survivors I knew, I never encountered a more kind, patient and loving group of people. One day I was in my office chatting with a Survivor to whom I was particularly close. I asked her why Survivors were so nice. Why were they not bitter or hateful? She told me that although some had understandably gone that route, she said that she thought so many had endured the worst of what people were capable of, that they didn't want to inflict pain on others. The story of the Holocaust is indeed one of hate, unbearable pain and large-scale murder, but it is also a story of resilience and triumph. Your remarks touched me. Naomi and the other Survivors would be so honored by your interest and your recognition of what happened to them and their family members. It is up to those of us left behind to tell their stories, to remind new generations of what happened and why it can NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. You will be a great vessel for that in your own community.

It could also happen if a certain group think they are above others. One person lights a fire of hatred and tells people that others are taking what is theirs and this hateful bigotry begins. If Naomi is or was still alive I wonder what she would have thought of the donald trump rhetoric.

There is a lot that I could say to reply to you but I'm going to refrain.. this is a very sweet and kind thread and I'm not going to dilute it with politics. I will say one thing to you: do yourself a favor and watch some videos of Hitler's speeches and then want some of Trump's speeches. You'll see a lot of similarity.. from the sheer Insanity of the screaming and yelling too the name calling of people that are not like you (and I hope you know I don't mean you in particular but you in general). Hitler hated Jews and gays and Russians and Pollocks.. anyone that was not Aryan. And the similarity that I see where Trump talks about Muslims and Mexicans etc is a little scary.

People who say the Holocaust didn’t happen irritates me. It’s so disrespectful to the Jewish people.

@@natalee217 And not solely the Jews, but other minorities who also suffered, were tortured and died at the hands of the Nazis...e.g., gypsies, Poles, anyone seen or thought to have a weakness, deformity or disability, etc.

Yes, and in all areas of the camps, according to some survivors, people weren't friends. In some places it was more like each man for himself, or loyalty to bio family.
