BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO Emile!! So many new colors and voices. You have breathed new life into this masterpiece. Thank you so much for sharing this performance. I am deeply inspired and moved to tears.

Bellissima esecuzione! Tra le migliori che si siano sentite del capolavoro d Schumann.

I really like the slower tempo on this performance. Some others are just to fast to enjoy. Very good job!

Great performance, he even re-seats himself for each piece!

A sensitive, warmly human performance with lots of character, if a bit shaky and over cautious here and there. Listening to it right now for the second time I find myself liking it more and more, despite a few obvious defects. I like it better than some of the more "virtuosic" but cold-hearted renditions.

No lecture intended, just an echo to your sensitive opinion (I put this disclaimer because typing lacks the expression given by eyes and voice, so this comment may turn out sounding unkind or snobbish, which is not my intention): I don't think it's cautiousness. It's love for clearness, which too many times it's set aside by pianists who think they can mess up with speed, thinking that no one would notice their lack of technique. Virtuosity, in my opinion, is essentially two things: clarity and beauty of sound.

best version for me so far- I think the player must have a sense of contrast and playfulness- which not all of them - you- have

I would imagine 100% of the people commenting here either do not play piano at all(not even Twinkle Twinkle or Chopsticks), or, if they do, could not play any classical piano piece worthy of posting on youtube, let alone playing in from of an audience with coat and tails as here. Anyone who actually could would be the last person to comment at all on here.

Why so? On the contrary, I feel that, as a pianist myself, was impressed and fell in love with this piece, so I would want to come to this video to hear a professional rendition, perhaps to take inspiration and play it myself one day. So I would think, given how many views this piece gets on RU-vid compared to other more famous pieces by Schumann, I would think that the majority of people here are most likely pianists or aspiring pianists.

As a performing pianist, I do indeed share your disdain for the musical equivalents of "weekend quarterbacks," however if the conditio sine qua non for having an opinion is being able to do it better yourself, I would find that somewhat problematic. Without these people, we would have no audiences at all, and if we have no audiences, then we have to work for a living. Besides, as Leinsdorf once said: Whereas criticism generally depresses me, praise never particularly pleases me.

Does that include you? Rarely have I heard such an arrogant assumption ever posted on RU-vid. You forfeit your right to an opinion worthy of reading. Have another martuisie dear and shut your fucking arrogant mouth and go to bed. This composition is one of the most difficult pieces ever written for the piano. I'm astounded at your ignorance. Astounded ! It's the composition and the performer (performance) that counts, not the audiance.

Dear Organman53; Clara couldn't have played it better. What a little shit you are. Yes, little shit. Keep practicing. You have nothing to loose. Of that, I'm sure.

First of all, the word is LOSE, not loose. Secondly, if you think Clara Schumann could not have played this better, you are truly in need of psychiatric help. Beyond that, I have nothing to say to the likes of you - a blind worshipper of this IMPERSONATOR - self-centered like no other in the field of music, and THRILLED beyond measure that so many have fallen for his pretentiousness.
@organman52

And may I add - if you do not hear all the inaccuracies, you need a hearing specialist. This is careful playing - and exhibits no confidence bordering on uncertainty.

Thank you organman52 for the spelling lesson about lose and loose. I always seem to get those two words screwed up. I mean it. Thank you. I dyslexic and have alway had a terrible time with spelling. Thank you also for 'inviting' me to listen for his errors. I simply find this work so far beyond human capabilities that it seems like magic that anyone would even attempt to play it. So I may have fudged a bit when I mentioned Clara. Please forgive... and thanks again. CVD
