I can't reiterate enough how people should be more respectful when going to Nara deer park. I saw a tourist who hit a deer because it got a little aggressive when his child tried to ride on the deer's back. 🤬 Another tourist who kept shrieking and screaming as she was feeding the deer because she was afraid of the animal but wanted to get the perfect IG photo. 🙄 And people leaving their bags lying about and getting upset when the deer tries to eat their stuff. 🙄🙄

Japan's original country name "NIPPON" means "country under the sun," but the traditional name of the country when the capital was here in Nara was "YAMATO (WA)". Deer in Nara have been traditionally cherished as messengers of the sacred gods of this island nation blessed with nature, until the present day.
