Ramadevara Betta in Ramanagara, about 60 kms from Bangalore and 3 kms from Ramanagara, is a great spot for a quick one-day trip. We have to park the vehicle at the base of the hill and climb around 200 to 300 steps to reach the top. On the way, there are a few small temples and one main temple. There is a nice view from the top of the hill. This place closes by 5:30 PM, so if you are going in the evening, plan to reach here by 4 PM and spend some time chit-chatting at the top of the hill with the wonderful view in the backdrop. This place is also known as Ramadurga, Ramagiri, Shivaramagiri, and Kappothagiri.
This place is famous because the Hindi film "Sholay" was shot here. Adventure sports like trekking are suitable at Ramadevara Betta. There is always water near the temple pond, and the very rare eagles found here are protected by the forest department. This place attracts a large number of tourists.
