The quality of his sound is STAGGERINGLY better than when he was playing that horrendous abomination he adopted later. This sounds absolutely wonderful with just six strings, add any more strings to this ABSOLUTE PERFECTION and you utterly destroy the tonal qualities and the harmonic respnse of the instrument. i could never listen to his playing no matter how well he played because it just sounded worse that a chorus of deaf cats singing different songs at the same time. THIS is how "GUITAR" should sound.
The piece was written for him when he was thirteen. This recording was made in Germany in 1989.It was most likely recorded on his 10 string. You may have other information.
@@davidmccoomb7214 Onl;y what my ears tell me. Any time I launch a youtube video of someone playing on what i call an "abomination" and absolutely NOT a guitar I can literally hear the difference in the responsiveness of the instrument. I cannot say what is wrong, just THAT it is wrong. This guy was an absolute master but any time I hear him playing on a non guitar i have to stop listening because to my ear it always sounds worse than a chorus of cats singing modern jazz (no musical content). This sounds right.
@@markmanning2921I agree this sounds great. His 10 string was made by Jose Ramirez 111 ,certainly an accomplished world guitar maker. The open passive extra strings in some keys can resonate complimentary .In other pieces detrimentally.
