"How did you discover Ice Cube" "Kmart" This is the most Aussie interview I've seen on this channel. Especially how she follows up by saying she also bought a Slayer album on the same day.
I saw them exactly a year ago open up for King Gizzard. Amyl and The Sniffers were great and really fun! Amyl was flexing and getting all sweaty, totally pumped. I saw The Chats open for King Gizzard the following night at the same venue and they were also fantastic. It was a whole Australian weekend!
I live in Victoria BC and Nardwuar used to play shows here all the time in the 90's with his various bands(Thee Goblins or The Evaporators) or would come over with the Smugglers or Cub, or any array of SUB POP bands at the time. Always a super nice, genuine person whether he was "on" or not, it was impossible to tell because he is who he is! I asked him for a picture of us, before the days of cell phones, and he was all "ok, told on!" Runs off and comes back out with matching Sleeveless zipper jackets(a la Micheal Jackson) " Ok shirts off and put this on!" What? Uh ok? But I am so glad I went along with his bizarre request and cherish that pic! He is a national treasure!
they all were having a great time... that's what it's like being interviewed by nardwuar. legendary. I absolutely love nardwuar and amyl & the sniffers! great stuff.
I met nardwuar at warped tour in Vancouver when I was like 7 or 8 , it shocked me to hear him talk normally haha … he made a little kid feel like an old friend I love nardwuar very much
@@Idk-pd1dg I know he did but he just should be exposed to more people and we know the rappers love him . Sirius podcast with video is the best way to expose his greatness to everybody.
He’s had every opportunity to be one more famous than he is, his stupid schtick can only go as far as it’s gone, which is kind of impressive to be honest. He’s fronted a band called the Evaporators, and done this same tired routine for over 30 years I think.
I don’t think I’ve ever been this stoked for an upcoming band until they came around. So many artists these days lose themselves to the fame but this group are as genuine as they get. They’re so fucking gnarly and I love it!
The fact he knows Stretched, a nothing special but perfectly priced pizza place in a dead zone thoroughfare that only locals would ever brave, is impressive even for Nardwuar.
Brilliant interview. The Interviewer actually did his research (so you didn't get the same old waffle), and made the band feel at ease, making for the best interview I've seen with them yet! Bravo, Sir!
Nardwuar has been the best in the business for 35 years now, interviewing bands and introducing amazing music to those clued-in enough to tune into his show on the local university station in Vancouver. Nowadays he's streaming the show on Twitch as well, and I would highly recommend checking it out! His research and profound knowledge of music history is truly one-of-a-kind.
Finally got to see them live on this tour, they singlehandedly reaffirmed my faith in rockn'roll. I have that Miss Piggy aerobics record-can confirm that it rules. ~keep goin' hard,Nard !
When I watch RU-vid footage of the Sniffers live the "Iggy" I quickly think of is NOT "Azalea"! Seriously, as a lifelong fan of the Stooges (with the first Iggy!), the Dead Boys, the Germs and the Plasmatics I was grateful to discover Amyl & the Sniffers! (BTW- I LUV seeing Radio Birdman's debut in the background!)
Check out Australia's 'X' from the late 70s- early 80s. Steve Lucas, Ian Rilen, and Steve Cafiero. Their album 'X-Aspirations' is legendary. You will LOVE it.
You know you're a true rock star when Nardwuar finds you!!! I'm a hardcore AATS fan, and was thrilled when you got them lined up for an interview! PS: Kinda jealous of Ari's glow-in-the-dark Pack A.D. album! 👍🏼👍🏼 Great band, great interview.
How can one not love nardwuar only just found thru grunge scene but all those that he's interviewed past n present is amazing and so needed in music circles all around
I worked as a stagehand for them recently and they had an awesome show!! Not everyone can get the crowd going like them. True talent and masterful stage presence!!!
I really enjoyed this episode as someone who is just getting into Amyl and the Sniffers. Not only learning about each band member but also their taste in music. Always looking for hear from artists I’ve never heard from so thank you Amyl and the Sniffers and Nardwuar!
Finally, a band that just slides right into Nardwuars groove! I mean....I love the dude, but his unique style seams a bit off-putting for many. These kids? They just roll with it and have fun. And also, they are just a great fun stupid rock and roll band. I'm glad they are finding success.
We need to put a coin in there. A Canadian one.....I laughed so hard out loud at that. Thanks Nardwuar and thanks to Amyl and the sniffers too. You guys rock!!!
Hey dog, I love you and everything about your interviews; I’ve been a fan since 2000. Start making RU-vid shorts, I’ve seen thousands of copycats making shorts with your content. It’s an excellent way to spread and show how much of a banger your interviews are no matter the length. you can even turn a video into several different snippets with RU-vid Shorts. It’s not an ad it’s just trying to keep the original content out there
She can punch you in your face if she needs to, but she also is a total sweetheart. I missed their show here in NY las Fri, and probably it's the biggest loss so far through the year
First exposure to a fantastic interviewer, who seems to expend considerable effort into investigative journalism, as well as emotionally relevant gift giving. A generous soul interviewing wonderful beings. Thank you.
