5:48 to 6:23 is so crazy to me. The way Nardwuar breaks character to totally own Eric, "She is dead. That ruins every joke." And then Eric actually apologizes!! Amazing comedic timing from Naurwuar, but also a rare display of regret from Eric. Incredible.
I love how Eric Andre comments on nardwuars musky pits but he literally has put his guests through way worse because he didn't shower for a whole month before filming.
Nard is aware that Eric isn't actually an asshole and Nard has dealt with a whole bunch of serious pricks Dude probably had 0 troubles staying in character in this one and it was killing Eric inside

6:18-6:20 to me was the climax where Eric had the reality check that this is just Nard being himself & wants an authentic-fun interview, not a battle of wits or silly jokes.
You should watch his Ted talk! Makes quite the exit lol but if you haven’t seen it already it presents a whole new layer to him and the respect he has earned as a journalist!
@@bettywhite2694 First of all, I love your user name. Yeah, Nardwuar won but most of the interview was a stalemate. Nard has a lot of personality, seems he never runs out of gas.
This is still my #1 favorite Nardwuar interview. Eric kinda breaks Nardwuar’s structure a little, but if anything it really just seems like they’re vibing the whole time.
@@clockworkNate I feel like they were both aware of each other's whole bit and were trying to break each other. At 10:40 Eric kind of pauses like Nard actually got him to break character for a second.
They're both interviewers who keep people on their toes but this was Nardwuar's interview and let's be honest Nardwuar has just been honing his schtick for a lot longer so he's more ready to steamroll anything the guest puts in his way lol
Way more than slightly uncomfortable. He was clearly way, way out of his element, and his constant insults about Nardwuar's breath or BO or whatever are a huge defense mechanism and a way to try to regain control.

Damn my respect for Nardwuar just increased so much after watching this. Eric Andre tried so hard to throw him off, but Nards was dodging everything and landing straight hits right back. Nards is on another level.
I bet you two are the people who always take people as being rude, that you don’t fully understand. Initially making that other person feel uncomfortable and turning situations awkward bc of your lack of understanding.
GG Allin was the only artist I know of who had such a close connection to his fans that he promised to give back a little by blowing his brains out live on stage.

this is both the most difficult and intriguing interview (either of them has ever done) where I don't want to keep watching but can't stop watching... I love it! they should just record conversations with these two and I wouldn't watch it all day

Oh shit I didn't even realize. We learned that his mom is dead and that he got "doot doo" from hockey games. I can't think of any other interviewees that got info from Nardwuar.
Nardwuar won... Eric has built a career out of fucking with people but Nardwuar is completely unflappable, he refuses to let Eric sidetrack him and keeps plugging away at his itinerary throughout... at a certain point Eric breaks down and puts up only token opposition to the Nardwuarian agenda, tho whether it's because he realizes he's met his match or because his curiosity about what Nardwuar has in his bag of gifts outweighs his need to stay in character and win the epic battle of wills is hard to say... the result may seem like a stalemate to the untrained eye but I'm awarding the victory to that consummate professional, the man in the hat: Narwhal. Nardwuar! Nardwuar.
Just saw this today! It was FANTASTIC! The ebb and flow of who led at different times was fascinating. The comedy was incredible. My favorite interview from Nardwuar.
Nobody is naturally funnier or crazier (in a good way) than Eric andre and nardwuar. I miss the Eric andre show so much. But I’m re watching all of My favorite old nardwuar interviews. Eric Andre as an individual has anxiety and depression, and as such he can absolutely be anxious lol. Actors do all kinds of stunts in their movies, doesn't mean the actual thought of jumping off a building doesn't scare them.
