I'm curious if it makes your eyes burn, like cutting onions does or methods where you don't blink until your eyes produce tears. Does it have that kind of sensation or is it painless?
Hello there :) The procedure itself is quick and totally painless. Click the link to watch the video on our Instagram page. instagram.com/p/CNAoqnKpsb6/
We recommend applying directly under your eyes using the Tear Stick container. You can also apply using your fingers, but make sure your fingers are clean to minimize bacteria, etc. You will also need to apply more product under your eye with your fingers than you would if you applied with the Tear Stick container. Hope this helps!
Is there a way to delay the effect? It could be useful for us but we're filming a single long shot and there needs to be about 6 or 7' between application and the moment the performer needs to cry. It could potentially be applied when the character is turning their back to the camera about 3' before they need to cry but it's tricky.
Hi Eric, thanks for reaching out, we love your work! This is indeed a tricky problem to solve. With a normal application, you have about 1 minute of working time with our Tear Stick until the menthol vapors will cause enough irritation for tears to start forming. The more you can reduce the time between application to crying, the better. One solution that might work would be to apply a small amount of the Tear Stick under the eye area at the 3 minute mark you mentioned. If you don't use too much of our product, the actor/actress should be able to withstand the slight eye irritation until they need to cry. The Tear Stick will still do it's job, but there will be a lot less eye irritation and a longer period of time before tears start forming. We hope this helps, and please let us know how it goes. Thanks!
by the way, I haven't updated my youtube channel for years (on the to do list!) so to see my work, it's better to head to my vimeo channel vimeo.com/ericgeynes
If you put an extra layer of the tearstick, you will need to wash it off more carefully. Clean it with the makeup remover and wash with soap and it should be fine.
that can be used as a way to get everything easy in real life. for example, you wanna get something but someone is not allowing you and you can use that to cry and done they will allow you the thing you want.good plan
That shouldn’t be a problem! Our Tear Stick contains shea butter which helps keep your skin hydrated. Start with a thin layer and apply more layers as needed. If you do notice dried skin, apply a moisturizing lotion or oil after you have removed the Tear Stick.
Hello. I really want this but i feel like its possible for real tears. Does this in any way burn the eyes? If it does go inside the eyes on accident, is there any risk for an injury?
Please, apply it under the eyes, you don't have to put too much. There's no risk of injury. Our tearstick is often used on stage and we haven't had any complaints so far.
If the Tear Stick does not produce tears, apply multiple layers for a stronger effect. As you apply more layers, more menthol will be applied to your skin. The natural temperature of your skin will warm the wax, releasing menthol vapors causing real, natural tears to form. If you still have issues with the Tear Stick please let us know. Thanks!
Our Tear Stick will work with contacts, but for better effectiveness, we recommend using the Tear Stick without contacts. We recommend trying the Tear Stick with contacts in, and if you are not producing enough tears, remove your contacts and apply again.
Yes, the Tear Stick is safe for use around the eye area. To use, apply the Tear Stick to the skin about 0.5in. / 15mm. under the eye. The natural temperature of the skin will warm the wax, releasing menthol vapors causing real, natural tears to form. Apply multiple layers for a stronger effect. Simply remove with soap and water or your favorite makeup remover.
Just make sure to apply in thin layers initially. If you need to increase the strength you can apply additional layers as needed. Menthol creates a tingly sensation on the skin, so you don't want to apply too much too soon because that will likely cause irritation on sensitive skin.
