Previously, I have read two fascinating books by Macalester College professor, Jack Weatherford: Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World and The Secret History of the Mongol Queens. Mongolia created a foundation in his honor to promote Mongolian culture in the country. Jack is now a legal resident of Mongolia. Previously, he spent 18 years there for his research. I think those are worth checking out for someone interested in the topic.
