“30 to 40 thousand Rimmers out there” I actually spit my drink all over the dog she was like WTF, my brother thought I was having a heart attack. Love the outtakes Shaun can’t help himself laughing, brilliant.
I'm not surprised that you have had offers to go on TV, Your vlogs reveal you both have talent for this sort of production. I wish you both every success in your venture, oh and Dillon too.
We’re now binge-watching these from the start, having been sent over fairly recently by a chatty taxi-driver the other week! Loving the dynamic between you both, the intelligence of the delivery and production; and we’re crying with laughter along with you in the blooper reels. Thank you so much!
Hey, Richard! 👋 Well, how random being recommended by a taxi-driver 😂 Love it! Glad you're enjoying the vlogs. Have you got up to the Carly Heyre incident yet? 😂
@@FoxesAfloat Taxi-driver said he watched your channel and Cruising the Cut (which we already watched) so we trusted his judgement and came for a look... We've only got this far (27) as yet but looking forward to the whole story unfolding. Thank you!
I am using my tablet in the bath having a silver foxes marathon starting from number 1 because I found a couple of the later ones and I really enjoyed them. You guys are wonderful, never stop being you!
These are just fantastic.......... and that’s before the outtakes I don’t think I’ve laughed so much for years 🤣 I wonder if I’m the only one that had to pretend that I didn’t know why 40,000 rimmers was so funny 🤣😀
I wondered how you said Rimmer without laughing, thank goodness for the out takes! Shaun - if the Daleks didn’t fit on the boat, the boat isn’t big enough. 🤣😂 My husband and I are loving watching your journey from back then to now. You two are so good together. Xoxo
Stumbled into your video’s near the end of your boating journey and enjoyed watching them so much I started back at the start and am going to watch it all the way threw. I can only imagine how amazing it was traveling the canals on SF. You two are absolutely amazing and a joy to watch…..please keep rolling out the great videos and all the best to the both of you.
I am properly crying with laughter. I think they might be the best outtakes ever. You two should be on the telly. Hysterical! After a crappy week that was just what I needed. Thank you x
Well done lads on a great series of how "Silver Fox" was born, which has been fascinating and informative (and much fun!). And well done to Shaun for giving up driving his buses, as I know what a wrench that must have been for him (haha!).. I know that because I've been there and done it although I'm happily retired now. Keep up the great work!
Top notch Q&A. This format really works ..... great questions from viewers and excellent, informative answers from you both. The dynamic between the pair of you is wonderful. And the bloopers (oh, sorry: ‘outtakes’ now?) suggest you genuinely have a lot of fun creating these vlogs, which is a joy to behold, Rimmers and all. As ever, I thank you.
O.M.G the out takes on this one is the best anniversary gift anyone could of given us. You guys had me & my hubby in tears laughing so hard. Its 45 years of marriage today May 1 2021. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 but with covid still hanging around we really didn't do much today. One day soon maybe. Stay safe Ya'll
Foxes Afloat I’m glad it doesn’t get you guys down, and a thumbs down actually registers as interest even if it is negative lol!! So every thumbs down helps the stats I guess 🤣🤣🤣 I love you guys! Such a tonic in these weird times, much needed laughs, thank you 😊
Great questions.... brilliant responses. I like the blue hoodie. I’m going to order one (matches my eyes)....and Colin, love your moves at the end of the “Out takes”.... you got rhythm!
The pronunciation you are all struggling with is: "That ak - wah - duct in Wales". On another note - can you go through the internet set up you plan to use? The antenna, router and provider that you will use. We are leisure boaters at the moment, due to circumstances we can't live aboard .. yet! But as we both work online the problem we have when do get away is getting a reliable cost effective internet. The videos are fantastic. Keep up the good work.
Never seen on a narrow boat but so enjoying your videos. But just thought you would like to know that before the pandemic hit us my wife and I went on a 4 day trip to Prague and we were in a restaurant that delivered your drinks by trains that run round all the tables. I am sure you will find videos of it on utube. Keep up the good work.
It doesn’t matter how bad my day has been you both make me laugh so much your both part of my day & couldn’t do without you both thank you for making my day xXx 🥰
A couple of things. Being a truck driver myself work does go quiet after Christmas. And how about a wedge for the bed rather than turning it around? Enjoying the videos.
Hey Tony 👋🏻 Luckily, Shaun’s already in with a local transport firm, although I wouldn’t fancy driving a truck in the middle of winter! Give me a warm boat any day 😂 By turning the bed around we can put a 32” TV at the stern side and enjoy reflux free king-size pull-out comfort 👍🏻 Cheers for commenting! I hope you have enough work over Christmas! 🎄
I'm pleased you're finding the whole process relatively stress free, chaps. I'm planning on buying a narrowboat in 2 years 6 months and 14 days - but, who's counting? And the one thing I've realised that I would miss, is a bath. Seriously, I was googling 'inflatable baths' and thinking about filling it whilst near to a waterpoint and buying a plug-in water pump etc. There are times I just need a soak. Go to 'Google translate', it gives you an audio pronunciation of Pontcysyllte. You two crack me up! I was wiping my eyes, just as Shaun did so, in the vid. All the best. x
Hey Gracey! So what’s the special date you’re counting down to? Jeeez! You really are going to miss a bath aren’t you! Ha ha! 😂💦 Thanks for the nice feedback (again). Glad you’re enjoying our vlogs. xxxx
That's when I'm 55 and retiring. The thing is, I'm the baby girl in my family and everyone else is enjoying retirement. I'm not wishing my life away, really. It's just a joke. But, yes, I really will miss a bath, especially in winter. x
Great video as always. I think the marina that has a bath block as well as a shower block would do great business but my husband said everyone would be in for hours causing a queue! Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Thanks both, really enjoying your journey. Something we would love to do. Just need the courage to take the plunge. The outtakes were hilarious, keep up the Fantastic vlogs
Great Vlog and bloopers as ever guys and I'm STILL waiting for an exchange date on my house sale - have seen so many boats I liked sell while it drags on, but it WILL happen😀😀 Love to you both and Dillon xx
Hey Graham! Thanks for commenting. Sorry to hear the house sale is dragging on. I believe that everything happens for a reason so be patient and look forward to that day you move aboard 👍🏻💦
Regarding the train set. I used to know a guy who was mad about trains. His holidays were spent traveling to railroads and his house was full of model railways, as Colin pointed out. it eventually drove his wife crazy and she told him either the trains go or she goes. So after she left, he put down another 150' of track!
Hahaha......brilliant out-takes. Laugh a second with you two. So Shaun’s a bus driver stroke lorry driver? Hopefully not literally....lol....see, this life you’re both going to have with Silver Fox surely beats full time on the road driving lorries and buses. I too am a lorry driver, been on fuel tankers 37 years this year and fed up to the back teeth of tarmac pounding the M62. I’m trying my hardest to get “She Who Cracks The Whip” Lynne to come to her narrowboat senses and sell up our bricks and mortar to retire on a narrowboat. Unfortunately we’ve bought a brand new twin axle caravan a couple of years ago and she loves it, I’m not that keen as I’m still pounding the tarmac when I’m on holiday. We hired a narrowboat twice and cruised the Llangollen from Ellesmere in Shropshire 10 years ago. You’re on your own when pronouncing Pontcy-syll-te Aqueduct though. I know for a fact you’ll both love that canal. ❤️
Great FAQ's Colin & Shaun. Love the image at 16:30 also almost choked on my biscuit. just love you guys😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘And I know what was in your minds at 18:38
Hi guys,I would like to know, when the both of you set out on your mammoth canal adventures, were you both self taught in Manoeuvring a narrowboat,or did you have intense boating lessons, prior to picking up silver fox,,I love watching the awesome in depth Videos that are uploaded, totally absorbing,so inspiring,
Hey Anthony 👋 We have about 15 years experience with narrowboats so we were pretty much as experienced as we needed to be, although we still learn new things all the time.
I might be 10mths late to this YT party, better late than never. I've just recently subbed and thought I'd catch up on the vlogs from the start. While I love the outtakes, this one almost killed me, I had trouble breathing and nearly peed myself......keep up the good work!!!
Easy way to say it.. "pont key suckly" it comes close. I have a Welsh husband and we are also looking forward to going over on our boat rather than waling it again.
An here was me thinking one of you was strapped to the top of the shell during the move :-D I can easily get stressed too, my chronic anxiety, sometimes, in my opinion, shows some ASD traits too.
Hi guys have you thought about electric under floor heating in the bathroom for use in the winter whilst on hookup I fitted it to Lydia May and it’s fab
I am a continuous cruiser but find it handy when I stop on a mooring in winter in a marina and sometimes get hookup on CRT mooring ie top of Llangollen
Love your vlog guys, especially as it helps me understand how mine and your boat is constructed. Have you considered 3 lithium batteries instead of 6 x 165 vetus? I know they are more expensive but if you need that much power may work out cheaper in long run. Kind regards Mark and Zac xx
Awesome you have a bow thruster, but I’m a little confused about the struggle with turning around the boat when you’ve got one, but on the other hand I’ve hardly ever handed a boat. I do suggest the foldable bathtubs, yes it will take a lot of water, but when in a marina (and the day before) it should be ok? I want one myself here at home, they seem quite well made actually, judging by the pictures.
That's the problem. Narrowboat water tanks are generally about 300/600 litres and hot water tanks are only about 50/100 litres, so it's hard to keep and heat enough water for a decent bath.
Due a few circumstances not under my control I haven’t been able to work on my model railroad. Instead I belong to a model railroad club and I’m able to enjoy the company of other modellers. Something that You might want to consider doing over the winter months when you are cruising. Love your vlogs. You guys help put a smile in my day. Best wishes, Larry
Actually collin about the train set if its a quality model train set u can just get a smaller scale train cause in my case in the U.S.A i currently have an ho scale (oo scale in the uk i believe) layout but with were im gonna be moving i have to get a smaller scale which would be an n scale out here. Just a little info that might help cause i know how much i like my trains and i dont think i could go without them its just so relaxing to play with them.
I know this is a bit of a personal question, but you did say ask 😁, how much did the narrowboat cost in total, gives me an idea of what i'm looking at for a boat of your spec, (which I must say is just to my taste , awesome)
Well I'm crying with laughter at this one, thank you. I can't help wondering though, why you didn't get a hip bath put on the boat as its the one thing you are both going to miss. It's something that I'll be hoping to get, with a shower over.
Hey hey 👋🏻 Glad you enjoyed it! It’s either a full size bath or nothing for me. I suppose I’ll get used to a shower 🚿 ☹️ Ha ha! Thanks for your lovely comment 👍🏻
Collin check out jono from journeys with Jono. He did a very in depth vlog about the batteries and electrics. Also Dan Brown from sort of interesting is trying to figure a way to run a train on his roof. Plus he's building a n- gauge table top train. And Shaun you have to bring at least one darlak onto the boat. Plus don't forget the sonic. Also loved the ideas Collin had about how somethings should fit. And lastly, being from the states not sure what Shaun's bungs are. The word had a different meaning here. Lol
I guess you may have already answered this in an earlier vid, but, why did you choose to have your hull built by Aintree and fit out at Bickerstaff? Why not build and fit at same place? And I’ve not considered the bed angle issue. Will certainly pay attention to that when we have our boat built
Hi Phil. We looked at most of the shell builders and fit-out builders over the spring and summer. After seeing them all we chose Bickerstaffe to do the fit-out. Luckily, they had an Aintree shell on order and they were one of the shell builders we’d visited and were impressed with. If you check out our first Q&A vlog from a few weeks ago we explain in more in detail. Have you chosen a boat builder yet? Thanks for commenting:) Colin
Hi guys - We have just done what you are doing - sold our house bought a wide beam boat and put a lot of stuff into storage. What are your plans for anything you have stored - as we keep thinking we are just paying to keep stuff we may never use again.
Hi! We've done this before, back in 2004, so we've already planned what we're not taking with us. Luckily for us, we have family who can store a few boxes in their loft or garage. How's wide beam life going? xx
Hi both it's going really well. This was new to us so a bit daunting - we got fed up with day to day living, we are able to work from home (boat) I (Keith) have cut my hours drastically, however, enjoying life much more. KJ still works full time! We had our boat specifically made to our modern design. Good luck with your boat build guys and hope to see you around sometime xx
My wife would say the same, but you have one advantage. As Shaun likes daleks I think you should make the daleks not ride the train but be the train. I can envisage little groups of daleks driving round the boat on little tracks yelling “Exterminate!” - well ok the vocalisations are probably a bad idea that will get annoying quick, but someone has to do it if not you, even if it is not on a boat.
Really enjoying all your vlogs, keep up the good work. With regards to your new boat, as with a new house you get ten years warranty, what’s the warranty with your boat?
Hey guys, just love what you are doing, very inspirational. What do you do when you require a physical address for things like mail or renewing your drivers license? Is there anything that you would change on Silver Fox if you were to do this life for a third time? Do you have a plan for when the day comes and you aren't able to carry on with this lifestyle?
you two are so funny i love watching your blogs do you think your water tank is going to be bigger at 90 gallons as most off the other blog boat people have 150/200 gallons and how much does your deisel tank hold keep up the great blogs
@@FoxesAfloat I thought in this video you said it was your favourite canal 😂 ok I will let you know what it’s like - we are going over the pontcysyllte aqueduct first few days 😬
@@FoxesAfloat Hubby and I were discussing moving on to a boat and the inevitable came up...'there will be nowhere for my vinyl'. Told him we would surely at least manage a decent cd collection on board. Then he started totally taking the p by asking about his screws and old plugs and stuff (crap) out of the shed AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!
Foxes Afloat that’s a shame, what if your boat builder gave you a vat receipt for the boat build without an engine? And a separate one for installing the engine as an after thought?
