I can't get over how beautiful the English countryside is, so green and the sheep grazing. Both of you have a great sense of humor regardless of the rain. It still amazes me how the canal locks work and how pretty the brick bridges are.
Hi Bill, I’ve been an Elvis fan since I was a little girl! When we moved onto the boat, all my Elvis stuff had to go unfortunately, as there’s just not room, however, I managed to keep a few small items and this is one of them 😉 Thank you Bill! xx
The couple who you left behind , I subscribe to them too lovely 🌹🌹🌹 couple. The Ron boat who you saw are friends of mine they moor there boat near me sometimes, there boat sounds amazing. In your video you capture how the grass and the tree's are so 💚 green. Thank you for taking me along on your journey, a lovely long video as always Take care until next time X X X
Thank you so much Rachel, this is so kind! ❤️ We’re so pleased that you are enjoying our videos and that they can help in some way. Hope you’re feeling better soon xx
Thanks for another great vlog, Regarding the old mechanism at Hillmorton Locks. The locks were designed to act as mutual side ponds, with a paddle between the locks enabling water to be transferred from one chamber to that adjacent, thereby saving water. Although no longer operational the winding gear can still be seen between the locks today. One flight of locks was used for ascending craft and the other for those descending thus one lock served as the side pond for the other. Although the saving could never be more than half a lock of water, as when the locks were half full they would balance out.
Oh wow! Thank you so much for this, we’ll be going back through the locks, so I’ll mention this on that video. Thank you Arthur, this is fascinating! xx
Hi both ,your favourite mooring spot....I was moored there for a few days early March, the iconic view of Braunston Church & the walk around Willoughby are lovely. I'm moored near Bugbrook at the moment, my latest favourite spot....& oh to see the sun can life get any better??!! Hopefully see you at Crick. Regards Mike.
@michaelpercy1741 sorry, nearly missed your comment! Yes that mooring is gorgeous, shame we couldn’t get on it this time. Ooh it’s lovely at Bugbrook, and like you say, with this lovely sunny weather at last, it’s perfect! 😃 See you soon! xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB yes! All good here. Just back from a glorious week in Dumfries. We were so lucky with the weather. Just itching to get away again soon. Happy sailing! 😃🛥️
Thank you for another interesting vlog. Great editing of the sky scenes. I hadn’t realised, until now, the significance of bridges and their numbers as way markers. We have sea and navigable rivers over here - no canals ! ☹️ Regards, phil, Suffolk 🇬🇧
Good evening Julie and Martin, lovely cruise. I really enjoyed that poem, I personally very much enjoy old English poetry so found it very interesting. Can’t wait for your next video and hope you both have an amazing week enjoying the sunshine
Hi Edward! So pleased you enjoyed the poem, I wasn’t sure if I should read it through or just put it on the screen, so reading your comment is lovely! Thank you! xx
Thank you for sharing your friendship and lovely cruise in such beautiful scenery. Have a wonderful week and enjoy your visit to the boat show. See you next week. Lots of ❤ from AZ 🇺🇸.
Lovely to see you again. I remember one time we made the same journey and as we came around the right bending corner towards the road bridge 85, the wind was blowing so hard off the field to the right. There were loads of boats moored on the left and we had to give the engine loads of power whilst also using the bow thruster just to keep ourselves from being blown onto the moored boats. It was pretty stressful (when you consider how stress free narrow boating normally is). Looks like the breezes weren’t too strong, just chilly maybe. Look forward to your next video. Happy cruising ! 🇦🇺🫶🏻🇬🇧
Hi Alex, it’s a nightmare if the wind catches the boat, we do generally stay moored up when it’s really windy, but these last few months it’s been every day! So we choose the least windy days lol 😂 Thanks Alex xx
Hi Julie and Martin. What lovely gardens there are on the canals and what a lot of ducklings that mother duck has. One of the lovliest sounds is to hear a narrow boat chugging along a canal. Enjoyed your video as usual.
Hi Joan, yes some of those garden moorings are fabulous and people in houses that live along the canals really take pride in their gardens, it’s so nice to see. Thanks Joan! xx
Another lovely video - uneventful is just great. Calm, peaceful, a beautifully gentle pace of life. Crick will be so busy by comparison! I hope you’ve got the warmer weather and sunshine this week too and are enjoying some less wintry conditions. Have a great weekend xx 😊☀️
Hi Mishka, yes most of the time it is just a peaceful cruise and now that the weather seems to have warmed up, our cruises may become calmer too. Yes, we’re really looking forward to Crick, like you say though, it will be a lot busier! Thanks Mishka! xx
Great to see this part of the canals and seeing you cst h up with Pete and Caroline, your such a lovely group of people. We will be going into north Kilworth marina now after crick so all change from Bedford. At least it isn’t straight onto a river 😂❤❤
I did think that’s a long trip for you, and with rivers too. You’ll love North Kilworth Marina, that’s where we started from. They are lovely there and ave great facilities! Really looking forward to seeing you both, and your new boat! Bet you are so excited! 😃 xx
Lovely cruise except for that rain and cold. Even late April can give you that. Here it seems like there is one last chilly spell in May. Those garden moorings are really nice. Of course, having your own house with a garden mooring would be even better. That would be the best of both worlds. ❤
Hi Dorothy, thankfully it looks as though the sun has found its way to us, we’ve had some lovely weather for a couple of days now, fingers crossed it lasts! We really like the garden moorings, when we can no longer work the locks, we could get one so that we can still live on the boat! Thank you! xx
Great blog as always guys love hearing the birds you got a great life out off rat race living a better life a longer not getting stressed I would love your life slow speed no 100 miles a hour and feel like God's I would love to meet you at crick but like most things its money one thing I not got so watch blogs instead be nice to see loads off you Allan boat time morning star shame the other morning star had to give it up becouse he so funny but he to ill to carry on it must be so nice to see you all like meeting film stars thank you for your service making us lough cry I you feel down and sad watch you and many other bloggers thanks guys xxx 37:26
Hi Nicholas, thank you for another lovely comment again, we do look forward to them! Yes it’s a shame that Ian and Carol had to sell Morning Star. Really looking forward to going to Crick! So so pleased you are enjoying our videos, thanks Nicholas! xx
Great vlog guys ,I enjoy watching your vlogs you have a wonderful life ,the peice and quite you have a wonderful life .look forward to watching your future vlogs
Great vlog thankyou, playing catch up at the mo with the vlogs at mo. We moor at Brinklow if u remember so it was lovely to see places we recognise! One of our fave moorings is opposite the farm (back of Onley prison you wouldn't know was there! We didn't until we had a walk through the gate and by Dunchurch Pools ). Xx
Great vlog Julie your are thurs eve viewing moored at Wheaton Aston in the sunshine what a change in the weather. Last night we moored with Nikki on route yo you. We wondered about going to Crick in our van but have decided to give it a miss. Ruth and David
Aww thank you! Hope you’re both well. We love Wheaton Aston 🥰 Aww shame we won’t see you at Cricket, hopefully we’ll see you when we come north later in the year! xx
Hey guys, I watch One Day More's channel too and, if you feel up to it next time you see them, yell "GO HOGS!" and I'd bet you'll get a very surprised look then a good laugh. I live in Arkansas which is next to Texas and there has always been a big college football (American football...lol) rivalry between the two states. There's a saying that goes "Who's your favorite team? The Arkansas Razorbacks and whoever is playing Texas". I've talked (commented) with them about their time in the states and we've had a laugh.
Hi Roger, we’re actually moored up with Caroline and Pete at the moment, I’ll get their reaction to that in the morning and report back to you lol 😂 Thanks Roger! xx
Martin - doesn't matter where it is, it's always lovely . . . . . . Not been on the Leeds Liverpool through Burnley then hahahaha Another magnificent video, I am truly jealous of your lifestyle, but glad I get an insight into it through your Vlogs.
Lol, no we’ve not been that way yet, but we’re heading that way after Crick, so we get to see what it’s like up there soon 😃 Thank you for your kind words, so pleased you’re enjoying our videos. Thank you! xx
Hi Howard, thank you for your comment, much appreciated! We try to avoid scratches and scrapes as best as possible, but sometimes can’t be helped, in which case, Martin deals with them as soon as we next moor up. He uses G3 products and there is one for scratch removal and we always have touch-up paint and Martin rubs down any scraped areas below the gunnels and applies Fertan (rust inhibitor) and then paints them in as soon as possible. Above the gunnels, there may be the odd spot, but mostly, Martin just sprays water, or if there’s dew, or it’s been raining, then just leathers the boat down. Martin only polishes the boat twice a year, the rest of the time it’s just a leather and water. Thanks Howard! xx
Doesn't the CRT have any powers to remove sunken boats from the canals?? Whose responsibility is it if not the CRT and what rules/laws are there to fine an owner if they just leave the sunken boat? Another lovely vlog 👏👏 despite the inevitable rain! Take care and stay safe. ❤
Hi Jill, I think the owners are ultimately responsible for the boat, so even if they don’t get it raised and CRT were to do it, they would get the bill. Not sure why this one has been left there for so long 🤷♀️ Thank you for your lovely comment! xx
Waw, guys! One of your most scenic routes yet! Gorgeous stretch of canal with splendid views everywhere! Do you know if these garden moorings are permanent ones? Or come free with the property? Love how those boats are the cherry on the garden cake! ❤❤❤
Hi Eric, the North Oxford is a stunning canal for scenery, we love it! We are hoping to go up onto the Macclesfield and Peak Forest canals later this year and they are stunning, we can’t wait! Yes, those garden moorings are permanent, you pay a yearly fee and it’s yours I believe, one coaster has apparently been there for 28 years! Definitely cherry on the cake lol 👍 Thanks Eric! xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB that would be so cool! So you actually could have a boat with a garden next to it, that would be my dream situation! Thanks for that! Have a great weekend! 🥂
Julie, are their laws or rules for abandoned boats? Does CRT remove them? I would think they could use any registration listed on the boats and levy a fee for the owners, if they're still alive?
Yes, CRT do contact the owners and it’s their responsibility to get their boat removed, but sometimes it’s not that straightforward, so then it becomes CRT’s problem 🤷♀️ xx
@@rocka-cb7kk You don’t need to take a test or anything, but you can take an RYA course, which I believe is done over a day or two. Or, you might. D better to just hire a narrowboat and they give you a 15 minute tuition before you take the boat out for a week or two. We haven’t taken any lessons. Thanks Derek! xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB THANKS JULIE YOUR A STAR i dont like houses im a free person who likes to get around i think you know what i mean you say a lot of how i feel about nature just love the life god bless ya both xx
