Man, the aftermath of this fight always makes me tear-up a little. Love the analysis!

what a hype ending to the fight, Lee going all out was just epic :) but again Im glad he didnt just get to win as a stereotypical good guy vs bad guy where he powers up overcomes all odds it makes more sense for him to lose :P best moment Lee standing up unconscious what a legend :) more fragments of Gaara's character too, obviously this segment was very much focused on Lee but slow build up for Gaara as well :) and he still didnt get injured :P the way they described these exams is sort of like a mini war, its a substitute for actual war where they compete by sending the best of the new generation and that way keeping the power balance as well :)

It certainly lines up a lot of potential for further development for both characters. It's going to be interesting to see how the dynamics between the students plays out post-Tournament, because some characters definitely would've killed to win, and that sentiment would be difficult to forget if you were on the other end of that battle!

I am enjoying your reaction and analysis of the series thus far. Your in depth analysis of story structure is extremely enlightening and allows me to enjoy this story in a way I never thought about before. One point I find interesting and also a bit disheartening with your series and other youtubers is the amount of mysticism you all still have with the 3 basic techniques ( transformation, replacement, and clone). The subtitles and dubs are poorly done, and don't explain them properly, which makes your reactions to " must have been ninja magic ", but they should be a reaction of " wow that was skillfully done. " Not to mention, they call genjutsu mind control, but it is actually manipulation of one of the senses to trick the brain.

Right, I totally understand the intent, as I believe I end up pointing out in recent reactions, but the reality is that as the *audience* these events are *shown* to us as "ninja magic". Even if the established lore is tied to "super skilled at manipulating senses", the experienced visual animated result is "holy crap--thats supernatural!"... Which... I mean... It ultimately is haha. All the ninja skill tricks are "not natural" relative to the options available to all humans in everyday life. So, both visually speaking, as an audience watching an animation that makes skill results LOOK like "magic", and relative to "normal" human capabilities, within the context of the world's lore... The results are super natural and can be interpreted as ninja magic, within the context of this world lore experience. It's just semantics at the end of the day and not a "wrong" way to interpret and describe things. When we watch magicians do stage illusions or tricks on video, we don't start explaining to others that "it's not magic, it's just really skilled manipulation of people's senses". Right... So... It's magic. 😂 See what I mean? It's sorta silly to nitpick about when you apply the same semantic logic to our real world examples! Calling things magic is shorthand to expressing a sentiment, not a fact. I hope that makes sense... I'm typing on my phone and RU-vid app makes it hard to see more than a few words at a time! I may have been redundant!

The tournament is part of the Chunin Exams. It was stated the purpose is promotion from Genin (low ninja) rank to Chunin (middle ninja) rank. Looking forward for your future reactions!

Ah okay, so there was another purpose behind them beyond the symbolic! So only one Genin gets promoted to Chunin rank each year?

It was stated earlier in ep. 37 that it is to choose "worthy" genin to be promoted, but how that is done will come next episode after the last fight. I got no doubt you could probably figure it out with just that one word hint. @@XEIWave
