I gotta say Tsunade's scene always breaks my heart. She lost Nawaki and Dan, Sarutobi, and was so upset about Orochimaru too. Losing Jiraya, the last one left must've been insanely difficult. I just look at her, alone, in the hallway and it makes me cry sm man.

The plotlines around Naruto and Sasuke are such a good juxtaposition. When they both lost someone they look up to, Naruto has Iruka to console him and Shikamaru to reignite his will to fight, whereas Sasuke has no one. This is a major factor that leads them to make different decisions when dealing with grief: Naruto chose to inherit the will of those who passed while Sasuke turned to hatred.

Damn, rewatching with you guys all of these episodes after so many years is reminding me why I loved this series so much as they were coming out in the manga and anime for the first time and how much important this series was for me growing up. So many years have passed since the last time that I watched these episodes where Naruto finds out about Jiraya's death that now that I am rewatching them, they made me cry so much as I didn't in years when watching Naruto (at some parts I was crying as much as Devi was, if not even more lol). I was also reminded how much of a cool and goat character Shikamaru is!!! If I was a woman, I would gladly marry him Lol. Shikamaru is definitely one of the coolest, greatest, most mature and well written characters out of all the Naruto series!!! He is probably in my top 5 favorite Naruto characters or something around there P.S. Damn, during this Pain arc, the Naruto series was so well written!!!

Shikamaru being Naruto's best friend once again. Shikamaru was the first guy who was smart enough to analyze naruto's circumstances and become friends with him from day 1. He never treated him like a monster and now he stood by his side again with Jiraya's death as he did in the war where he lost his father. Shikamaru will always be my favourite character that comes through.

In times when Naruto is at his worst Iruka was always there for him wow ... even in the movie Iruka bought Naruto a cake for a surprise birthday Iruka was the only one there .. its very sad .. I feel like after Jiraiya died he couldve gone into the wrong path Kakashi warns sasuke about which is the path of revenge

Back when those two episodes aired, one each week, those two weeks definitely were depressing.

The difference between Naruto and Sasuke. Naruto is mature enough to accept that there is no time to be feeling sorry for himself, there are people that depend on him that he can help. Sasuke, by Itachi's words is "naive, like a blank canvas waiting to be painted" and it is shown by the way he always throws a tantrum instead of becoming wiser than that.

This episode hits hard no matter how many times or many years have passed. Devi is right, Jiraiya practically raised Naruto, and he was the closest he had to a family.

The best Naruto Shippuden arc is coming and I think Debi will have no more tears to see what is coming XD

People always seem to overlook that Naruto was always alone. The only person he saw consistently for 3 years was Jiraiya. I hope when you make it to the end of Shippuden, you watch the movie.
