You pretty much hit the nail on the head with my concerns. We have seen Naruto/Shippuden films where they DO an original story, and it can work. I personally liked Road to Ninja, Blood Prison, and The Last. However, it'll really be up the writing, acting, and directing that can make and break a film.

Like you guys, I am mostly afraid of it being a movie that will skip too much just to save time. For a story as long as Naruto, it has to be a series to have enough pace for everything that the fans want to see

if they do a movie, I hope its just Land of waves and Chunin exams, so they can take they're time.

What if Hinata has a tailed beast? What if Sakura & Sasuke swap clan? What if Ino Yamanaka was in Team 7? What if Tsunade adopted Naruto? What if Orochimaru was good? What if Kaguya reincarnated as Sakura? What if Gaara befriended Shukaku? What if Sakura was Naruto’s Twin Sister? What if Sannin & Team 7 switch places?

I think making a live action Series of the original Naruto would be better then just doing a 2 hour movie. In a show for Naruto newbs the characters could be worked out better.

I truly hope that it turns out well and I agree that it would be best for it to be a Netflix series because they could tell a more detailed story instead of a crammed film

Movies should be a showcase for a series potential and lead into a live action series if the series allows for it. For example in naruto it would be awesome if the point at which the story takes place is the point at which naruto meets his mother and father when karama breaks out and their chakra failsafe triggers. Granted this leads into shippuuden but can showcase a bit of s future event and the highlights of what makes naruto naruto and whats to come and be expected of the gutsy ninja as we rerewind time and tell the story of from narutos perspective but his own memories playing out. You see the destruction of konoha, rewinding to naruto understanding why naruto wants to become the hokage, rewinding to highlights of his fight with Sasukse and rewinding further to the battle with Kurama breakout at narutos birth. You can showcase the power of an entire cgi budget on making sure its an epic battle and giving the audience a a feel for the character that naruto will become without focusing too much on one aspect of the story or condensing something not meant a movie medium. The culmination shows narutos birth his parents deaths and a final farewell and briefly touching reunion and closes with him knowing what he needs to do to save konoha, and loved ones and friends he has made along the way with one final silhouette of himfacing off against pain. As a fan that would sum up everything i needed and knew was to come,. Of course it would be awesome if in a sequal we got to see a sasuke persective telling a futuristic version of his ninja path and way, or a gutsy telling from Jiraiyas perspective but you dont know if its icha icha paradise or the tale of the gutsy ninja (easter egg jokes maybe)

Dallas Liu(Zuko) had a interview podcast that he wanted to play either sasuke or Itachi for the role though i could see him playing as Neji

The problem is sticking to the story with live action. You could have the worst GCI ever in a live action series. But so long as it follows the original story as it was intended by the manga/anime/game. Most people would not even complain as much. But that right there is exactly the point. Not only has CGI devolved over the last few years but somehow every producer feels the egotistical ''need'' to take creative liberty in their creations. NO stick to the damn story or pass the flame to someone who will... Thanks for listening to my rant xD

Naruto is my top anime of all time but if they make it a movie I’m not even guna bother. I’m a pretty creative writer and I would have no idea how to turn naruto into a movie without pissing all the fans off. It needs to be a series with more than 8 episodes a season. We need at least 20 episodes per season to really be able to write in all the important plot points and twist. It would have to be at least two seasons for naruto, so around 40 episodes then 4 seasons for shippuden. Which would also be hard to keep interest in the series. they need to avoid changing the feel of the series, keeping it true to the feel of the anime in terms of character personalities and making sure to include the episodes that described every character so well. Like we have to hate gaara and then love and respect him and his insight. We need every story point that gets the audience to hate itachi and cheer for sasuke then hate sasuke but still admire him and he has to be cool af. We have to slowly start to understand and love itatchi and it’s like that with so many characters. The way the anime hooked the audience forever when Orochimaru attacked the leaf village and used the forbidden justsu to reanimate the first two hokage and killing the third. It’s important to also explain and include every single point where naruto becomes stronger which is a slow process. From him first learning the rasengan on him and jaraiyas search for sunade. When naruto first lost control of the nine tails and went head to head with Orochimaru and injuring Sakura. Then the first arc of shippuden when they go to save gaara. The fourth great ninja war was so long but amazing after removing most of the filler episode’s lol. I honestly think live adaptations are cool if done right but none of them ever capture the real essence of the anime. So my interest in them are usually not very high. Honestly I wish them luck but I’m sure I won’t be completely satisfied with it. I like one piece but not even close to how I feel about the anime. They’re doing really good tho and it’s a good way to get people watching the anime.

I feel Netflix is doing more than what they can handle. The One Piece live action cost so much money to the point for season 2, their gonna take at least 3 to 4 years to action move forward with it despite it being confirmed. This Anime obsession of Netflix will be its downfall, look what happened to WB with DC Comics, it was a gift and a curse for WB, it would be a gift if WB was able to handle it and actually bring people who are fans to work on projects which would leave to commercial success depending on the characters they use, which version and which story they decide to adapt. It would be a curse if WB couldn't handle it as they would bring people who knew nothing about it and treat it as just another project to be brushed aside and mix that with corporate greed. Being able to introduce it to fans who already know it and to those who aren't fans is extremely crucial to any live action adaptation from any franchise. Timing plays a HUGE role. Disney's Marvel was great for a full decade till they reached decline. Disney got mixed up with identity politics and tried to do things that were "politically correct" which majority of their audience didn't like. Many talented producers, writers and directors were now forced to conform despite not wanting to. Netflix went from failure to failure to failure trying to adapt Anime live action adaptations losing a lot of time and money but never gave up as they were reluctant to breakthrough as many execs really thought it was gonna be the next big thing in modern cinema and they were correct. They eventually succeeded with One Piece and they actually brought people who were fans of the project just like how Disney did with Marvel with the first decade. Anime is a huge sensation and is now considered mainstream so Netflix won't be pulling out for a long while. Overall, the blueprint and formulae is literally right there. Bringing writers, producers and directors who are actually fans or are aware of the piece of art their working on, will most definitely become a success, of course, they have to also consider the fraction of the audience who aren't fans and bring something that they all can enjoy as well. Not every live action adaptation will be 100% of the original and a lot of people have to accept that. Majority of western companies have to follow the ESG scores accord, so if you're wondering why there is LGBT, Feminism and some Race Swops in some live action adaptations despite the original not having any of that, it's because of ESG scores. Disney and WB have fallen prey to this, Netflix and Universal seem to handle it slightly better.

I think if they're going to do a live action series of Naruto, it should be a series ,not a one-shot movie. I mean, with what we know now, the live action series could be better than the original amine. For example, they could introduce Danzo at the beginning of the series as the guy who sold out the 4th Hokage and his wife secret location to the masked man during Naruto's birth. Another thing they could do is with all the neglect and emotional abuse that Naruto gets from the villagers, it's enough to weaken the seal so that the nine tales fox could manifest himself as Naruto's imagery friend, thus being in a better position to manipulate him. Yeah, I know the character that nobody can see, but the main character is an overdone TV toupee, but it kind of fits with Naruto being as lonely as he is. So why won't he make himself an imagery friend? Plus they could make sense of the Hinata and Naruto relationship.

Honestly the one piece adaptation was just ok. Sure as far as live action goes thats an amazing feat but it still was just ok. But as a one piece fan and someone who believes kishimoto can't write for shit Naruto is one of the few shows that might be able to pull it off most of the abilities would carry over pretty easy. But the larger summons sussanoos and reaper death seal are worth concern but if they start with just the land of waves while letting the tech catch up they could pull it off

Why not adapt each arcs into each separate movies instead of condensing a lot of story arcs in one movie? Similar to how they adapt each books of a novel into a movie saga like Harry Potter and Hunger Games?

My mine issues with these type of live action films is that they change the character too much and the character isn’t true to the manga or anime but all that said I still think it could be good if they do it right.
