I really think the reason I love the original Naruto more than I do Shippuden was because how mysterious and menacing Orochimaru and his henchmen were. He was in a sense immortal, but he didn't nuke everything and have a lot of flashy attacks like the later Shippuden villains did. Due to the small scale of the story and the focus in the original, any time a villain did show up with weird powers like Curse Marks or the Mangekyo Sharingan it felt like a big deal and truly fascinating. Shippuden overplayed its hand and lost a lot of mystique in the process.
BlackAnbuOps Classic Naruto was great as it was all about inspiration, hard work and determination overcoming natural talent. Naruto's world building, characterisation and themes were incredibly captivating and only began to go downhill in Shippuden as it began to shift its focus on the conflicts between Naruto and Sasuke whilst forgetting all of the other characters that were built up in the original series as well as slowly shifting the tone of the series away from its original themes and messages that made it so unique to begin with, to a more generic shounen battle manga with remnants of its former glory sprinkled throughout.
How many times have we seen the same flashbacks from Naruto vs saskue they really forgot about all the other characters in Naruto and focus more on special eyes and power ups I remember when they had to out smart their powerful enemies I miss how they use to use scrolls and paper bombs
Sad to think that they only obeyed Kimimaro and Orochimaru because they were likely orphans of the Village Orochimaru took over and it was either that or dying. And then after dying, the man that basically slaved them has a "Redemption" and gets to live a happy and normal life 😢.
