Anime-based JRPGs should be more popular - I personally think it's the best medium to portray the growth and progress that is at the core of most battle shonen series. And besides, we're kinda full of anime-based fighting games.
Agreed. To be honest fighting games generally aren't a very accurate medium for most anime battles. It really only works for stuff like DBZ where most fights amount to punches and kicks to finish off with an energy blast. Most anime are more tactics or situational based then basic wars of attrition+counters.
@@diydylana3151 True, but when 90% of anime games are mediocre fighters it's a bit tiring. I would have genuinely wanted a sequel di Attack of the Saiyans, but not enough people even knew the game existed.
Hard agree. I've got a small playlist of anime RPGs, but I have plans to go through so many more. I know FMA and One Piece have a bunch, and I'd love to hit up the Code Geass and Sailor Moon ones. I got some weird stuff to work on in the short-term, but I do want to delve a bit more into anime RPGs.
You didn't talk about the osts enough. I still have those bouncing around in my head YEARS later. Something about the Final boss theme for the 2nd(3rd) one just hits right.
A lot of the songs are really generic JRPG music, but there's a handful of exceptionally strong music. I don't talk about music because I don't really know anything about it other than "It sound good/not good" but I encourage everyone to give the OST a listen in their free time.
@@Caspicum oh, I’ve played the second one too, I liked 2 way more as a child because there was one friend i had who also had 2 on their DS and we kept doing wifi battles with each other, and sharing the secret to unlock all the other secret characters was fun too.
Honestly even if they aren't always the best games ever I still wish we got more anime JRPGs, there used to be a bigger output in the past. I don't dislike the fighting games or anything but RPGs are more of a comfort food for me.
@@Caspicum Yep! Tsunade Search Arc is now done, and the Sasuke Retreival Arc is well underway! Check out the website and the Discord Server for updates!
These games truly appealed to the male Naruto fan fantasy. I loved furiously rubbing one out for Sakura the bootiful as a kid. I actually liked Path of the Ninja 2 the best though, and not just because it really let me play with myself. Jokes aside, thanks for uploading these videos. I hold so much nostalgia for Path of the Ninja and Bleach 3rd Phantom it's unreal.
I was quite literally just thinking about this game... And who better than my favourite weird, RPG man to be covering it. Now do attack of the saiyans 👀
This video was originally an Attack of the Saiyans video, but I had this talking point about how anime games can use filler to make cool scenarios. Eventually, it became a Naruto video, so I've got Attack of the Saiyans fully recorded... Have to make something out of the footage tbh.
@@Caspicum Sounds good, hopefully you will be able to use it for something. I think attack of the saiyans has enough filler material of its own to talk about. The first 3 chapters is practically all filler. Even had a lot of references and scenarios to the original Dragonball with the wolfman and monster carrot.
Great review! I def hope there is a fan translation of Chidori VS Rasegan some day as Id love to experience it tbh as I always assumed Path of Ninja 2 was the only sequel made
I loved the two english games very much. I was a kid so idk about all that criticism about the menu, friendship meter or annoying bits. I just loved all of it.
This might be the first time I’ve ever caught a vid literally right when it’s uploaded, hell yeah. I also just woke up so I’m too tired for something clever. Something about if you’re already grabbing your DS for Naruto, you may as well pop Boktai 2 in the gba slot too 😴
I knew that I was missing something as a kid when I played path of the ninja 2, it felt like too much had happened that it skipped over, now I know it was actually the 3rd game 😂
path of the ninja...oh my god there is a name I haven't heard in a long long time. Yeah I had that game when I was younger since I was a bit naruto fan. Looking back I remember summoning a giant frog blade...repetitively, I think by the time the game ended the land would be damaged so much I should be charged for terrorism LOL
@@Caspicum It's called Naruto Shippuden - Dairansen! Kage Bunsen Emaki it's an action rpg that basically follows the first arc of shipuuden. It was a fun game.
Nice vid gave me the same vibes as the running shine YIIK video. Out of curiosity, what was the bleach game you showed? I've been going through the entire gba and ds libraries to install anything worth a damn and didn't see any bleach rpg's, though i know that anime games tend to be ass so i tended not to look too deeply into any of them...
The Third Phantom! I have a video on it as well but it's pretty old. Game's not bad, probably the best Bleach RPG. I think the only other one is on PS2(?) and that's not very good. Damn shame too, I'd love more RPGs with the Bleach characters. also that's high praise, the YIIK video is legendary. I am blessed 🙏
Wow... that hurt me xd. I loved these games, I liked them so much that now I'm waiting for a group that translates anime games to finish their RPG 2 patch into English, and I would also have liked these games to reach Shippuden :'v. Anyway, I love that Someone who knows about the existence of these games has done a review, I just wish they had become even a little popular so that people remember them. Well, I speak Spanish and I am using the translator, I hope you can understand some of this xd
A good Shippuden RPG would've been amazing, and I know if they did it now, we'd get Boruto, but I can't bring myself to care about that at all. Unfortunately, I think the time has passed for more good RPGs like this one. The translator did a great job, I didn't even know it was translated until I read the last sentence!
I haven't actually started it yet! My current upscaler looks shit for PS2 games so I've been meaning to buy a different one but never got around to it. I finished Arc 3 like 5 months ago and am just recording it now because I was lazy but I don't remember Twilight being *that* bad, just incredibly slow.
Have anybody played the japanese gba naruto game called Naruto konoha senki? Thinking back i liked it more than path of ninja, since its a tactical rpg and it even has a skill tree like system. However its japanese and untranslated, my childhood self must have worked really hard playing it.
Looking back at the footage, a lot of the animations were better than i remembered. I might've been a bit ass blasted over the lack of battle shortcuts and other awful decisions
Once you talk about touch controls I lose ANY interest in playing the ds version. I really hope theres a fan translation even though I know there probably isnt.
It's not too bad, it's really more of a throwaway gimmick and the game isn't hard enough to rely on the damage boosts, but yeah if i wanted to exercise i wouldn't be playing video games.
OMFG! Is dat the charter frum F-f-uckit the joke is lame and overdone even ironically! That aside, is Naruto still popular after all these years? I heard it got REALLY lame once the sequel series about his son came about. 3:48 Oh boy, I do love tacked-on touch mechanics!! And this is the best one of the bunch: it’s the Ruin your Over Two-Hundred Dollar Device in a Single Playthrough Machanic!
Bruh this stuff was fine but try playing the bakugan ds game bro that fucked up my 3ds touch screen up. If i want to click j i have to click around i and o ffs.
Naruto was never good and people who grew up watching Naruto are about as bad people as the people who grew up watching Dragon Ball Z. All of them should be neutered.
