The lift takes you to 600m. 1.5h push bike to 1100m.
The 29er downhill bike was absolutely the wrong choise on this steep, slow technical trail which for the most part is a hiking trail. Nimble enduro bike (which I rode the same trail couple years back) would do the trick way better.
When the actual MTB trail started at 600m it was also quite narrow, filled with tight turns. With already faded brakes the speed wasn't remarkable on this section either. The trail(s) for some reason did not have a single marking, trail number or way sign despite Narvikfjellet selling day tickets for downhill bikers.
As a result you are left scratching your head several times during your descent figuring out where the actual trail continues, especially when it crosses a road. The start and finish are up to you to find.
I hope they would mark the trails with numbers and way posts.
When riding the hiking trail, ask someone descending before you to warn other hikers to avoid accidents. I passed a word to step on the uphill side of the trail when I would pass, so in case I crashed I wouldn't take anyone with me as I would tumble down the face of the mountain.
