I know I can (I know I can)
Be what I wanna be (Be what I wanna be)
If I work hard at it (If I work hard at it)
I'll be where I wanna be (I'll be where I wanna be)
I know I can (I know I can)
Be what I wanna be (Be what I wanna be)
If I work hard at it (If I work hard at it)
I'll be where I wanna be (I'll be where I wanna be)

As I recall, Nas wrote this song at the request of his Mother, who had asked that he release an inspirational song for children before she passed away. This was him fulfilling his promise to do so. For someone who writes such deep raps with integral stories, it shows the man's talent that he can compose something so simple yet meaningful.

@@Wis_Dom yeah might be in the grand scheme of things. At least here in Germany we are very aware of this kind of stuff I don't think I have to explain to you why. I know damn well what my country has done in the past. From the Herero and Nama genocide in 1904 in German West Africa to the biggest crime against humanity ever, the Holocaust. And yet there is so much more to our history. There's a reason why patriotism is very uncomfortable for us today.

Pretty much what I said in another convo What people view and choose to consume as media will always reflect what's coming next. If you do really appreciate rap with intelligent lyrics and you are truly tired of those with small to no content in their chants simply stop consuming their product. They will collapse of their own. And that doesn't go only for music. It goes for all. Money is power, use your power (give power) sparingly and only to those you truly feel deserve it. Because they will use it the way THEY see fit. And when it comes to music, well Migos will produce more Migos album with more money/views people give him....

My dad would play this every day on our way to school. Man it brings me to tears when I think all he wants for me and my siblings to succeed. My brother and I in Uni on scholarships in highschool part of the way but we about to be engineers. If you black and from the tough parts of town you know how stacked the cards are against you, but this is how i always knew subconsciously you have to be the best despite the world's view of you. Man I'll never 😢stop playing this song. Nas thus means a lot to the young black youth worldwide. Much love from africa.

My name is Jack from Taiwan and this is my story. 10 years ago, I was the one who got 0 in my English exam back in junior high school. I have no idea how to improve my English since the text book is too difficult for me to understand. One day I heard this song in a burger restaurant, I liked it so much so I told myself said: one day, I will able to understand everything in this song. It took me a while to find this song because I could only type “be where I wanna be” to search (I didn’t even know wanna is want to😂 at that time). After few months of study, my English improved a lot, I got 60 in my English exam! But some how, I became a person that is brave, confident enough to speak English with foreigner on the street. Thank you Nas for making these wonderful, motivative and positive songs, I want to thank me as well, for putting efforts and making a change. 💜

Where is the evidence that Alexander the Great damaged the nose of the sphinx? It seems that the the doctrine perhaps best named 'black pride' is so deep into the victim role that they allowed themselves special rights to assume history even though it is not at all proven or even deliberately altering it. The 'we are the victims so we are allowed to lie' ofcourse goes at the expense of your credibility.

Meanwhile, many innocent blacks and whites were killed in the following riots and loootung. Shame on the ANTUFA/Bkm criminals. This song made me break down at work. Because as a people most of the time we are misunderstood and over looked and struggle with too much to be able to teach our children to do the best that they can because we are too busy trying to survive making a dollar on out of 15 cents. Thanks Nas

Corporate Radio Rap. Not Hip Hop. Corporate Radio is a weapon of Culture Destruction, that's why so many stations are in the hands of so few people.

Because most rap nowadays is produced and funded by whites who want to see us fail.

What everyone needs to do is take an African American history course beacause he talks the truth about the African people in the video!! There were amazing nation states that educated the world!! One of the best courses I took in college!!
