The dedication to the craft makes me shed a tear. For all we know Nas could just throw the same audio from decades ago into the song. But instead he reraps it, changes a word, and spit his entire soul to finish it.
Nas just freestyled the last part, and it feels like he just wanted to tell the world not to sleep on Cordae and Gibbs. This is a big cosign from Nas, plus mad respect for him working with Gibbs especially after they went head to head at the Grammy's. Life is like a Dice Game.
No he didn't freestyle the last part. Come on now bro, he's the god Nas but he wrote it or repeat/memorised it like everyone else. Meanwhile you're suggesting he off the topped with the rhyme schemes, cadence and intricacy...it's abundantly clear that wasn't a freestyle, as if he would risk revising the old with improv.
@DJ Glustick I'm really referring to the original definition, even if we're talking about vintage ciphers noone's out here naive enough to think majority of the sh1t wasn't written or otherwise locked in- but that's the exact delineation you had between "freestyle" and "writtens"
The original pre Illmatic demo version of "Life is like a dice game" has reasonated deep within my soul for over 15 years when I first discovered it by accident online. This new version has definitely given me a new vibe of Dopeness 💯
I downloaded it from MP3 Skull years ago in highschool cause I was going through an old school rap phase trying to educate myself and was binging Nas tracks
The original was incorrectly labeled as part of his pre Illmatic demo but it’s really after Illmatic. In the original he raps “Peace to my seed n thanks for her birth, Destiny that’s her name”. His daughter Destiny was born summer of 94, months after Illmatic dropped in April of that year. And frankly his flow here was more nimble than on Illmatic. He sounds more experienced, more like how he ended up sounding on It Was Written.
What the fuuuucckk i heard the original sample by michael henderson and thought " yo i gotta go listen to life is like a dice game like when i was a seed bumping nas all day" and i find out today that he actually finished the joint!! And added gibbs and cordae on it! Wow incredible. This made my day
@@dianevrules Enlighten me. How do you define/identify a 'terrible album'? Name at least three other terrible albums you've identified in the last five years.
@@dianevrules He letting the youngins get it in, he's paving the way for the new generation. Big props to Nas! Is this beat better than the original? No. But it's dope either way💯
Just a good feel summer hip-hop beat. A mature Nas on point, you gotta come with it if you gonna be on a Nas track, especially Cordae, his verse was dope.
@@dstevenson100 - Hmm... I don't think Cordae was even born yet. It's a new production with features, plus Nas tells you in his new added verse at the end when the original was made, so I know.
WTF were you listening to? Cordae used that same 1994 weak Nas flow to redrum Nas on this song. Besides, if AZ were on this song, Nas wouldve deleted it. Because Nas could never in his life f^%$ with that AZ flow. Doe or Die>Nas's entire career
Lyrically better than Cordae and Gibbs, sure. He ain't levels above Black Thought or Lupe right now, if anything they are levels beyond him at this point. Respect to him for being an inspiration in the first place, but you need to listen to more great rappers if you truly think modern Nas is levels above everyone
@Yeah Right After Nas KD3 you still think Black Thought and Lupe levels above Nas? If you think they're better i'll respectfully disagree but to say they're levels above is crazy. Nas "beef" concept song is just about better than anything either BT or Lupe put out this year and BT is in my top 3 of all time but c'mon now
@@masonridgewell8063 Visualizing the realism of life in actuality. F&*&^^ who's the baddest A person's status depends on salary 👑👑👑👑👑🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Best verse on Illmatic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nas can NEVER f&^^%^ with him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so glad they finally uploaded this song outside of Spotify. I'm glad hitboy was able to freshen this track back up so Nas could finish a 28 yr old song.
Dudes got a tennis player on his side. Of course shits gonna be divine lol.😂 And plus J cole use to be repetitive as hell with saying "Fly" all the time. 😂
Every Nasty Nas fan has had the OG Version on repeat since they first heard it. That's not going to change , however I'm just happy he finished the track.
@@dianevrules Come on now lol. Cordae doesn't wash Nas on here. Everyone does what they're supposed to do, Nas even drops an extra verse on top of the OG one. This is great all around.
Don't forget he worked with Qtip & Royce da 59 to. He's levelling up. His album gonna be a banger, his last album was classic. Honesty before I started listening to him, I always taught he was a corny mumble rapper lol until I heard him freestyle on Flex, that was what made me change my taughts on him & I immediately slapped myself lol 😂😂😂 Fr tho, this Kid Cordae hard & is literally one of the best out there.
I can’t believe he redid this! Man I had this jawn on repeat in the headphones back in High School. Plus a new verse??? Damn I love Hip Hop! This is a treat!
Damn this nigga Nas. This song is so fucking good. Hitboy you did it again. Why this wouldn’t be dropped in the 90’s? This could be an Ice Cube’s Today was a good day summer anthem from the East Coast. I've long wanted to see Freddie Gibs and Nas on the same track, they exceeded my expectations. Fuck…
This right here is the true essences of hiphop Lyrics, Production, Subject Matter, and Pure Dopeness Nas Freddie and Cordae just killed this boom-bap track It reminds me of a 90's era De LA Soul record that catches the feel of what a real summer hiphop record should sound like. Very Throwback with the boom-bap sound and killer lyrics, This record is definitely hot🔥🔥🔥🔥🎧🎤
