Jay Z has better wordplay, theres like far less double or triple entendres i find in nas' music compared to jay. I like hovs style i think hes more versatile
@alejandroangel5908 Nas 👑 is the King of New York when he nade Ether and he didn't have go commercial to sell his records Nas 👑 did it his way like a real King happy birthday to the G.O.A.T. Nasir 👏 forever Timeless 🎉
@@shemereali551 jay-z sold more than nas , also has more number 1 albums , jay-z also has more money than nas ever will have , jay-z is the king of new york , and also controls hip hop , jay-z ended nas , nas is nothing now - jay- z the goat who is in ever top 5
@each1teach1academy43 Jay-Z has You Must Love Me, A Week Ago, Coming of Age pt 1 and 2, Meet the Parents, God Did, etc. I'm not from NY, and don't care for how Nas and other decided to start rapping. Rewind is a gimmick and I saw the movie Memento, so I'm good. Lyrical Exercise lyrics are much better than Nas wher he's supposed to be a gun (Gave You Power I believe)
@@Salech47 Queens run what?? Jayz still spanking Nas baby mother and weirdos like you talking about the softest boro running something.. stop telling jokes bozo
If you think Jay cant rap, then youve only listened to his last few albums. Listen to Reasonable Doubt, Life and Times Vol. 3 and 2, Blueprint 2, Black Album, The Dynasty, then listen to his features on Jay Electronicas album, the Meek Mill song, God Did, Jay even killed Nas on Black Republicans.
@nellons85 with alot of help from the roc. it was nas pretty much on his own 90 percent of the time except the firm and Bravehearts both didn't last long
Best people that will give you an honest response to this question is regular people. Not industry people who are worried about connections and possible sabotage.
Nas is conceptually more creative. Hov is more technically adept. Jay may not share Nas ability for creative writing. But Nas doesn't have Jays ability to weave in the double entendres and punchlines like Hov.
@@EffortlessEffervescence You bugging nas rarely uses entandras he's more of a ill flow punchline here an there rapper jay is all that plus layered bars strapped with double tripple entandres. The difficulty level ain't even close.
Who tf says that Jay is better Just because he has money. Those are all artists who lives this genre and they know very well how great both of them are. HH heads love Jay for his music not for his money
Stop spinning false narrative for likes Its not about the money. Its about the fact Jay manifested everything he aspired on his first solo. Spoke prosperity into existence. In My Lifetime '94 🍾🛥️... It was all there homie. Listen👂🏿
@@EffortlessEffervescence everybody knows jay z is damn legend no question !! I'm Talking about this fools answering and explaining that because jay is more successful
Honestly speaking I don’t understand how a true hip hop fan would choose Jay over Nas. Nas IS hip hop and for me is the embodiment of new york rap. That fella was a master lyricist at 15..
so many Mfs only choosing it is cause they either work n with him or hoping to and they don't want him to feel no type of way when he hear about it. Is Nas hands down it's not even close. As far as status money-wise and business-wise yeah Jay z is on top but as a rapper he can't even touch nice he's not even in the same League
@@eightball258Tf you mean Jay isn't in the same league. I agree Nas is better, but you can't deny that Jay Z has it. The lyrics, flow, discography, influence, all of that.
Nas has a dedicated internet following of about 5,000 people that will scream 'GOAT' underneath every comment section lol Love Nas but that's not actual reality. He has not had the impact that Jay has had on the culture. Nas is up there don't get me wrong but Jay left EVERYONE a long time ago with Pac being a distant second.
@@onyxonyx4744 In hip hop terms, not business terms, how did Jay leave everyone a long time ago? Most people have Nas beating Jay in their battle. For me Jay is good but overrated, he bit quite a lot from Biggie and Big L. After Pac and Big died it was DMX who became the #1 rapper, because X had that it factor Jay didn't quite have. Nas doesn't really have that it factor either but he's lyrically a monster and more original than Jay imo
@@onyxonyx4744 Jay himself is influenced by Nas...Nas has MUCH BIGGER IMPACT ON THE CJLTURE THAN JAY....Nas directly or indirectly had impact on 99% of rappers in the whole world. You just don't know how influential Illmatic is
For me it’s Nas. I think Nas is the better lyricist technically & I also enjoy Nas’s Catalog more than Jay’s overall. There’s records Nas have done that are some of the most creative records I’ve ever heard like I Gave You Power for example. Both are incredible but from a Lyrical standpoint, Catalog standpoint Nas edges out Jay-Z to me. Nastradamus, Street’s Disciple & Nasir are probably the only records from his discography I don’t like. Out of Jay’s 13 albums I only like about half: Reasonable Doubt, The Black Album, The Blueprint, American Gangster, Vol. 2: Hard Knock Life & 4:44. The other records are hit or miss.
His last 3 years were not 'phenomenal'. I'll give him two memorable albums out of that run. Magic 1 and King's Disease 3. Neither one of those are universal classics either. Just good albums. Everything else is a weed plate.
@@2pacDocGotDaJuice and Nas in 1996 on Take it In Blood did better verses than everything Jay ever dropped. Inluding his verses on God Did (and there is also an original Take in Blood track that even had better verses than album version)...Nas has TONS of verses better than Jay's best
@@mattyamweelo6027You're smoking. That is LITERALLY the main argument people always argue against HOV. The fact Nas is better at RAPPING. He is in another realm lyrically. Jay is light-years behind Nas as a lyricist. You can say he's a better artist though, but that's just cause Nas doesn't care for hits or the mainstream. 💀
@@obsessedwiththegreatness Jay Z is the greatest MC to ever pick up a mic. Never Change, Song Cry, D’evils, dead Presidents 2, public service announcement, Marcy me, streets is watching, meet the parents, don’t know what’s not to like. Another thing about Jay which is not talked about is how revealing he actually is. His discography is a journey of his life. You can literally tell at which phase of his life he’s in by an album or a particular string of his albums. You learn about him, even through his mistakes. It’s quite astonishing to those who take the time to really listen to him and take in what it is he’s saying.
It’s literally picking between Kendrick and Drake💔 you can tell most of these decisions were made on who can help me more financially in the future. Sad but true..
I love Nas and Jay-Z. Both top 5 for me without a question. But Nas to me is the goat. I understand the politics behind people not wanting to pick a side. But I'm kinda suprised that Large Pro didn't say Nas. But more disappointed in AZ more than anything.
@Johnnyboycarter7 Did you 4get the Freestyle diss Nas did over the Paid&Full beat..He killed da WHOLE ROC with that one...And we never heard the ORIGINAL Ether, which the record label didn't wanna release..The version we hear,is the "Watered Down"version...which still was a MIC DROP...
I pick NAS( It's not a hard Decision)- Do Yall Remember that NAS was a Platinum artist when Big n Pac was ALIVE ( Jayz career took off After That)- YALL must of FORGOT.....
@@boomdoxful2533well to be fair Jay’s first album dropped in 1996 independently the year Pac died and a year before Big died. And he still sold 450 000 copies under his OWN label.
@@ArtisanWindchimes His label was in partnership with Def Jam. Nobody would sign him before, so Dame and him started their own label and got hot enough for Def Jam to come in and partner with him in 1996. So once he got sign, he had some leverage, such as his own label, but Def Jam was getting most of the money, but he got more than the average new artist.
I agree they don’t want to be black balled. And when the industry promotes you yes your numbers will be better but looking over lyrical content and “big n’ up your brother” nvm mind Nas cadence and content is for those of us that want substance 😂
@@ALexander-ue3kj 4:44 is better than ALL 6 of them albums AND it had more impact. In fact, Jay's 'God Did' verse had more impact than those albums loool. Lastly, Jay rapped better on that Jay Electronica album than Nas did on all 6 of those albums. Nas is not elite anymore lyrically. He's good. Just not elite. Stop trying to make this a close race. Jay has lapped Nas many times at this point and you know it lol
Nas all day everyday...... Jay-Z celebrates the streets and lyrics help bring a negative energy to the culture, while Nas lyrics uplift the culture with the strike of a starving vulture ‼️💯......
This has never been a contest to me. If you want generic commercialized rap then Jay is your guy. If you're for the essence of this thing called Hip Hop then it's Nas. Nas will always be number one to me
@@kindell1 Guess you couldn't answer that question. I can definitely tell you when Nas made his commercial attempts. Jay speaks to his struggle which was like a lot of young men. Nas speaks on the struggle in his own way. Neither were ever commercial artist. Don't let being a Nas fan blind you .
4 out of the 6 of those albums were average and Nas was NOT elite lyrically. I'll give him Magic 1 and KD3. The run isn't what his fans are trying to make it out to be.
