Takes less power to deorobit it, plus this option is less dangerous.

PSA…please remember to recycle, and don’t litter. Also, drive an electric car because nasa needs all the fossil fuel to crash a giant trash can into the ocean. Final note, use paper straws to save turtles

It does feel like the end of an era. It felt like an outpost of humanity. Untouchable even temporarily from the trouble of any kind on earth. Now as a child of the 80s watching the troubled shuttles of different times I think, we can do it. I have been following Boeing because of John Oliver. It's insanity. I wanted to make jokes but I can't I hope they get home. They will.

Why not just... Deconstruct it, bring it down piece by piece and reassemble it suspending each piece with cables, and build a museum around it?
