Cutting-edge laser communication technology can now stream ultra-high-definition video across space.
As a test, Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory beamed a cat video 19 million miles. But, in future, the technology is set to bring the whole solar system into sharper focus.
Will it one day mean astronauts can video call from Mars?

The ordinary transmissions from spacecraft anyway are also caught on Earth by telescopes - by _radio_ telescopes. I'd be interested in the question if the laser senders are noticeably more expensive, and in the question if they could even become cheaper than the ones ordinarily used so far.

So NASA might already have people going to Mars so they are testing this all out for the future! I know that a bunch of people signed up to go to Mars in the future. I wonder if they are in testing or training now. Also, could this laser beamed from outer space be used as a weapon against humans? I think so!
