📄 NASCAR 09 is the twelfth and final simulation installment in the EA Sports NASCAR series. It is developed by EA Tiburon and released on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and mobile phones in North America on June 10, 2008. Jeff Gordon is the cover athlete for NASCAR 09.

It's crazy to think that the ps3 was originally planned to not come with it's own dedicated gpu, because the guys at sony thought the cpu was more than enough to handle both processes. Bro and developers were already struggling with the ps3 early gen... imagine how awful games would've looked like without the gpu in place.

The Ps2 is Decent for the 2008 buy clearly the 360 and the PS3 are far far way from the PS2 but im only lucky to get the Best Buy Special Edition for the PS3

If I'm honest with you, when it was 2008 and they bought me my PS2, since my parents didn't have the money to buy me an Xbox 360/PS3. The first games I bought were *"Nascar 09"* and it was one of the best decisions of my childhood. And now that I recently bought an Xbox 360 with RGH and 1TB of storage, I downloaded *"Nascar 09"* for this console to see if it was as good as the PS2 or much better, and I was very disappointed. Then I re-downloaded the PS2 version to see if it was as good as I remembered, and that's exactly what happened, in fact it was much better than I remembered.

I guess ps2 version 60 FPS, Could be wrong.

No, like literally no. It wasn't capable of running games at 60. Only 30...it ran 1080i on select games like GT4. Most games ran at 480p at best. Compared to the OG Xbox which ran at 720p 60fps with its powerful pc specs of the time. And I've heard tell that it could do 1080i with an add on 60fps.

And if it did run at 60fps on ps2 it ment it ran at 240 or 144p to make up for its weak hardwares short comings.

@@claudespeed277 dumb post about resolutions, nobody talked about res. ps2 is clearly 60fps because the ps2 often did field rendering: frame1 odd lines, frame2 even lines as it was 480i output anyway.... looks nice compared to the ps3/x360's 30fps.

A lot of it is probably choked up to simply knowing how to properly develop for the ps2 as they would have at least had 7 Nascar games prior all the way back from 2001/2002 so they would of had plenty of time to get acquainted with the Ps2s hardware.

field rendering. ps2 output 480i so odd or even lines only - frame1 odd lines, frame2 even lines, etc. this way the ps2 had to render HALF the image into one frame so as an example: 560x240 = 134k pixel ONLY ! (ps2 often did not render to 640x ...!) the 7th gen consoles had to output frames progressively and also to 720p: 921k pixels in one frame !!! That is 7 times more than what the ps2 had to draw..... on top of the shading and other stuff the 7th gen was famous for.... the compromise was 30fps in most games to reduce the "work" :(
