Hey DB - Every time i get here, it is gut wrenching. The removal of the tunnel was like a punch in the head. We used to hang out in the tunnel to get out of the sun. We had so many great times at these events. Used to always bitch about how far you had to walk, but now I would love to walk this one more time. thx...

I worked for Turner Construction on the Speedway in 1997 , I supervised adding 17000 seats in turn 1 added three buildings and a TV tower in turn 1 looking at pit row. Lots of great people I worked with , Penske had a great vision for the old steel mill

Work at Auto Club Speedway site continues to move a break neck speed. However, the work is focused on the commercial real estate and not so much the track. Hey Floor IT - Every time i drive out there, I see the grand stand in the distance and just sit back and remember the way it was. Such a shame. One thing that wasn't obvious to me before the construction, was just how big that facility was. Incredible amount of land they had. If they had made better use of the race track, maybe they wouldn't have needed to sell land to make a profit. Oh well, now we can just hope for a new track. Was just back out there and the work continues, so stay tuned. thx...

Hey 1WQ - I didn't see the track go up, but I did spend many seasons out there with friends and family. Some really great times. I remember always complaining about having to walk 2 miles just to get into the facility, now I am wishing I could walk it one more time. From what I’ve read is nascar and others are interested in selling the rest of it. Heck they already started pouring the slabs for those warehouse buildings. Such an iconic track gone

Hey AD - I was just out there and yes I saw the massive slabs they are pouring. Really starting to box in the track portion of the site. Still not clear how they plan on getting a race crowd in and out of there, but time will tell. Just got back from Rockingham and they have been doing allot of work out there, so stay tuned. 7:56 Look at the outline where that building is being built and the direction of the remaining track "reused front stretch"... I don't see any way to complete that turn with that building there unless it went flat or extremely sharp. Even then doesn't seem like enough space. I think this track will be history unfortunately. Nascar didn't save enough land.

Hey NJ - The main grandstand and all the pit garages are not going to be touched. So they will be building around them. Based on the space, it would seem that the front stretch shape will need to be slightly modified to fit, but time will tell. I was just back out there and the pouring of foundations to the east of the front stretch are in progress. Sitting on pins and needles, waiting for them to get to work on the track. there is no track build as of yet... if at all. SoCal just isn't a great place. warehouses are everywhere.. no life here... best place closes to the south is Willow Springs.... outside of that just doesn't belong here.. these citys act like they want it.. but bitch about sound and chase them off..... this track rebuilt will only result in noise complaints and close....

@@scotthofstetter4036 Thanks for the kind comment. I have a long history in racing and a lot of it in NASCAR. They have gone way to overboard on rules and race format changes. What made NASCAR great was it being simple, and that anyone could take a car to the track, enter it, and run with the big boys. What it is really all about is money, and NASCAR seems to want it all. I would remove about 75% of the rules and replace the other 25% of them with simple rules that would force the OEM's to make their desired changes to their models that are sold to the public. They seemed to have forgotten what "NASCAR" stands for... National Association of Stock Car Racing.

Hey Mike - I have several friends who also went to track days out there. They all loved it and constantly tried to get me to bring my CBR600 out. I kept saying, "No its to pretty to risk". Really, I just would rather ride hooligan on the street than make a fool out of myself on the track. My bike is all show and could go (without me).
