First race I ever attended, I was five years old and a massive Dale Jr fan. I should be a Truex jr fan though because every race I’ve been to since Martin has won 😂
I remember this like it was yesterday. Came home from taking high school finals(yuck!) to see the race. We all thought Truex was an instant star in the making. That was largely untrue until about 2015.
@@pandaexpress7326 i started watching NASCAR around 2004/2005 (Daytona 2004 was my first race) and like i remember those cars being so quick but then when it got to COT i was like they all look the same but they were so quick, i wished after the COT they could have gone back to those style cars cos for me Gen 6 was as far from stock you could get.
I do miss a victory lane celebration & Interview being aired. I know why they do the interview at the Start finish line its just not as emotional to me. But what can ya do 🤷♂️
As an 8 year old I loved them, begged my parents to buy the new die casts. I can understand why people think they are ugly, and they definitely didnt look like stock cars, but who cares. Theyre unique
Then didn't win again after that until Pocono in June of 2015 (he made the Championship 4 at Homestead that year, finishing 4th in points, a then career-best). Won 4 times in 2016, but an engine failure at Talladega knocked him out of the Chase. Then won 8 races and the Championship in 2017. Add 4 more wins in 2018, 7 in 2019 as well as his Martinsville win this year, and he has 27 career wins. How do I know? I watch and follow NASCAR, and have done so for years. He's also won with 4 different teams: DEI (Chance 2 in Busch), MWR, Furniture Row (16 of his 27 wins, including 8 in his championship winning season), and Joe Gibbs Racing. Oh and here's another fact, his 218 race winless streak is the second longest drought between wins in NASCAR. That mark belongs to Bill Elliott's 226 race winless streak between the 1994 Southern 500, and the 2001 Pennzoil Freedom 400.
It was probably not in the original broadcast, some things are different between this and the original tv broadcast. Some things are removed and some things are added. It may have been an extra camera angle that was cut off for another one on TV.
