NASCAR, like any other competitive sport, has had its fair share of controversial victories over the years. These controversies can arise from various factors, including rule interpretations, on-track incidents, or post-race inspections. Some controversial victories in NASCAR history include:

In this case, NASCAR stated that the leader spun his tires and failed to accelerate which is why Carl beat him to the line which was also in the rule at the time. A more drastic example would be as the leader hits the gas he spins out, the guy in the inside isn’t expected to stop as he is spinning and stay behind him.

Hey there, I mainly watch Daily Downforce guys but came across you and really enjoy your vids. Going through old vids now. I'm disabled from a life at Joe Gibbs so I watch a lot of RU-vid. This is only a suggestion but without an ending segment of some kind, my vids go directly into the next vid that I may not be ready to watch. If we have time to exit out, it would help immensely. I'm do not want to sound like I'm criticizing, just an observance. I believe your channel is good enough and in some cases better to be in the Out of the Groove/Daily Downforce crew like NFJJ just joined. Keep up the good work.

Hocevar's first win wasn't that hard to call IMO Sanchez was sideways and barely saved it but lost a lot of speed. Hocevar kept in the gas and the truck just ended up on his nose. Not intentional just a racing deal. Not really much to discuss there. 1 to go you don't back down from 3rd with a shot to win.

Richard Brickhouse is listed as the winner of the inaugural Talladega 500 in 1969, however, it is believed by some that Jim Vandiver actually won and Brickhouse was made the winner because Chrysler influenced Bill France, Sr. into creating a scoring error so that people would buy the Dodge Daytona (the car Brickhouse drove in the race).

I didn't remember Carson Hocevar's first win being dirty, and upon watching it again I still don't think it was. Sanchez was already wrecking before Hocevar even got to him, and the contact at the end just finished him off. Carl Edwards was penalized for a restart violation in one of the Richmond races the year before, iirc, similar to how Denny Hamlin was penalized for going below the yellow line and also got away with it at a later date in instances both mentioned in this video. You wonder if NASCAR is reluctant to hand out certain controversial penalties to the same driver more than once. Make-up calls, if you will. It sure is weird to see a BMW 7 Series as a NASCAR pace car. It's a good thing that happened on a road course, or else a certain subset of fans who are currently throwing out all their Richard Petty memorabilia over the switch to Toyota (true story) might've seen that. Speaking of foreign, that restart by Stewart would have been by the book in F1 and not controversial at all. Not every racing series is so hell-bent on bunching everyone up of restarts to breed more yellows. Not saying one way is better, because I'll admit F1 safety car restarts are quite boring most of the time, just an interesting observation of the difference between the two.

My favorite part of Denny’s win at Talladega was the only call they made. I remember being like “Denny is definitely getting black flagged.” And then a minute later the booth said, “NASCAR says Chase passed below the yellow line.” Hysterical. I guess they weren’t watching the finish. They were focused on the battle for 8th?

@timechanger9162
@timechanger9162 4 месяца назад
@@seanmoulder747 idk many calls were made to protect the guy in 2nd. If that was the rule then what’s the point of a restart zone? The leader can just slow down purposely and screw multiple guys. That’s why many drivers protested every single time specifically for that reason. Which is why that rule didn’t come into play very often
@JGR4LIFE
@JGR4LIFE 4 месяца назад
If the chase never happened, spingate doesn't exist. NASCAR tries to manufacture entertainment to the point where someone finds a loophole, NASCAR wants to penalize or even fine the driver for something they caused. Best example of this was the 2022 roval race where Cole Custer let Chase Briscoe pass him to get an extra point. SHR got penalized for playing within the rules of the system (adavnce through each round). MWR was on the rise at that point and would have probably been around for another decade if full season points was still a thing.

I don't know why this reminds me but it does, the people who say someone would've won a championship under a different championship format straight up piss me off lol. if there was no chase, everyone's mentality for every single race changes. how can you possibly say that someone would've won a championship based on results that are created by a gimmick?
@saragrant9749
@saragrant9749 4 месяца назад
@@TravisMSimpson NASCAR throwing cautions when it seems unnecessary, making lineball calls on if someone violated a rule or such are part of the human aspect of the sport. No one gets it right every time. There’s a big difference between making an incorrect call and CHEATING. Michael and his organization made a very dishonest decision that ultimately got them in severe trouble- and it wasn’t even the first time they’d done something really stupid!! No comparison between the two whatsoever.
