The Indy car race through Baltimore a couple of years ago was cool. I can only imagine Stock cars there would be better. Those Indy cars are fragile, Stock cars are made for banging in the corners.
Mike Bagley was not part of the MRN broadcast this week, but I agree. I've been listening to the radio broadcast over TV for a couple years now. I'm not going to try to convince anyone of anything, but I recommend that if you haven't to try listening to the radio one race.
@j.paulm.1575 thanks for the clarification, didn't get a chance to watch much this year to include this race so wasn't aware. Hopefully they keep including Mike and the whole MRN team. Makes the TV broadcast more entertaining, I'm sure
NASCAR is finally realizing why F1 has been the pinnacle of Motorsports for decades. Road races with challenging environmental conditions are what showcase great racing and great drivers.
I was there general admission. The rain was cool to me. Nothing like rain in the Windy City with cars flying by. Can’t wait for next year going to start saving up for the vip pass.
So many people have called for SVG to get more experience on ovals in Xfinity before transitioning to Cup.. Yet he's still able to pass guys and consistently finish in the top 15 on ovals without crashing and taking people out.. Unlike these so called best drivers in the world who can't keep their car underneath them when the roads wet. Now ya'll gonna cry.. 'they have no experience in the wet" Well now you know what SVG is up against and the stella job he's doing with no experience on ovals, but he's doing a much better job than these top tier cup guys by not crashing, not taking others out and finishing races. Edit: Oh btw.. How good is street racing hey! So entertaining 👍
Right, road is not a high priority nore should it be. This race is definitely fun and entertaining but we don't need more road courses, id rather not change another thing in NASCAR.........
Most all Nascar fans love SVG and his skill on road courses. He's finishing top 20 on ovals in the Xfinity series, where the talent is much lesser than Cup. He's getting a lot better at ovals and I agree he should be in a cup car next year full time. No need to defend SVG in RU-vid comments, he is well loved
Eh, I don’t blame briscoe. It’s rainy conditions, he locks it up, and he happens to run into SVG. Not necessarily a bad mistake, although it’s still a mistake. It’s just an unfortunate incident for SVG
haha I ...see... what you mean. But they are usually looking at the fractions of a second between the cars on numbers chart. If you can see it visually it just means the gap is closing rapidly.
It looks like he was thinking he could either take out the car in front like Briscoe, and himself, or he could just take himself out. And he made the decision to take himself out. I don't think he was expecting to clip the other car, sent him almost straight into the concrete barriers, but I respect the decision behind it.
@@tylerrogers3263 Plus these low profile tires behave much differently than the ones still used in Xfinity. Once a low profile tire starts to skid, you are just along for the ride because it's not gripping any time soon.
😂😂😂😂!!!! NASCAR at its Best!!!!! Loved it. That is what I Call a Great Race Day Plus a Heck of Drive!!!! This is a Real Statement about NASCAR Drivers: Not only they can drive in Street Racing but Also in the Rain ☔️….. we Should Have more Races like this ….. KUDOS.
i don't normally follow Nascar b/c i don't care for ovals, but THIS is great! Thanks a bunch to nascar for putting these highlights up to YT so i can enjoy them!! :)
It's probably best that SVG got taken out when he did because the NASCAR regs would not have seen which way he went on a wet track once he hit the front
I normally hate road races, but that was one the best races I've seen in a while. Took me back reminded me of the old formula 1 movie when they were racing at Monaco.
@@MikeG42 What do you mean by this btw? I don't get it? Is it jealousy or what? What will just said is 100% i agree with and I'd say alot of fans of NASCAR would say..
RIP Chicago Street Course, letting Bowman win was the kiss of death. Was never but the best of times, but what little time we had together was a blast.
Not a lot of experience with these cars in these conditions. With the amount of times racing in the rain has happened in NASCAR, it's a fairly novel concept.
@horsefly1020 F1 doesn't, Indy cars don't. Not sure cars you're talking about but professional series cars don't. That's the whole point of professional drivers...
I know that this race is fundamentally a shot NASCAR is taking at bringing in F1 fans, but if the racing is consistently this entertaining, I’m 100% okay with the pandering. This was a banger of a race.
The novelty of the Chicago street race has worn off. Nascar needs to return to Daytona over the 4th of July week and give us some some high speed racing.
I like the track fine, but you are 100% correct. What a stupid move of Nascar to just do away with The Firecracker 400 on July 4th weekend. They just don't get it and keep making these stupid calls.
@@billtmarchi4320 Cadillac will never join NASCAR their image is luxury cars most Americans won't be driving a luxury car NASCAR works best if the fan base can physiology relate to the cars on the track right now besides the Camry there no cars the fan base can fantasize driving down the road which is a problem for Ford and Chevy
@@tlhamp0 they have the cts models or xvt or cts4 or whatever they are now. I know they won't, but how cool would it be to see those rear wheel drive caddys( if they still are rear wheel drive) out on the track.
@@billtmarchi4320 it is a physiological thing Cadillac is consider to be a luxury car so the average NASCAR fan won't be interested in them joining NASCAR because they can't afford one i think eventually NASCAR going have to consider SUVs for their NASCAR models because the auto industry doesn't make cars anymore at least not cars the average NASCAR fan can afford
Rain both years of this race... I'd be surprised if this event continues. It was cool for the one time, with the city as a backdrop and what not... but it doesn't really deliver no matter how much these commentators hoot and holler.
Year two of a 'what would have happened if.' Weather has been ridiculous. I don't want races decided on tire choices that decide SUCH differences in speed.
