I regret buying diecast sometimes, and paying too much is a problem for me. I always have the chance to buy something, on Ebay, then it is gone, or I have a chance to buy something and it goes up in price. It sucks.
The issue is people think there shit is more valuable then it actually is like its outrageous you car is worth 54.99 thats what its worth unless its signed or has those special finishes
YEAH so in the off season I went to JGR and they had the truex coke 600 win and I was like hmmmmmmm should I get this and we want HMS too after and there stuff was over priced so I wished I got that car and now it is worth like $200
I got into diecast nascar collecting when I got a cheap number 43 Richard petty car. I just got a limited edition 2003 Winston cup 17. Matt Kensith car.
Me in a nutshell everytime 😂 I'll always get the ones I know I want but then come across ones I don't have and have always wanted or want just as much and have to sacrifice those to get the ones Im currently getting, I hate it but it's just the nature of diecast collecting nowadays 😂
... yeah about the Jimmie Johnson 7th time championship diecast... Last year, I remember a diecast shop I would occasionally go to (maybe about 2 times a month. Depending) had the JJ 7th time championship car for awhile (probably when since 2016) it was going for $70, and with a sale they had because they were unfortunately closing for good, they were selling it for $40. I was so close to buying it, but instead I got a Denny Hamlin car. Well the next time I came, it was gone. I wasn't too upset at the time until I later found out it was going for $200-300... I hated myself because I could've had it, right then and there. I still hate myself for making that mistake. That's my regret story about a diecast I should've bought lol
I have 406 1:24 scale race wins and a few clean ones. After collecting for 3 years there isn’t a car I won’t buy to add to my collection. Now I admit I’ve overpaid a few times, but I’ve gotten cars for a steal a few more times than cars I’ve overpaid for.
I know the feelings of not getting something when I should have . Gordon’s last win at Martinsville 2015 I was there in the pits for that one and had the chance to get it at regular price now over 300 it sucks !!
I've had really good luck finding older and newer nascar diecast at farmers markets so if your near one and you don't wanna buy online go there and look.
I have Dale Earnhardt Jr Red rookie car. Action and whole bunch of others from the 90's and probably a few up to 2004 maybe, I started collecting when Earnhardt Jr was still in the Bush Serie when ever the hell that was and did it for about 8 to 10 years trying to pick ROY cars and such. Daryll and Michael Waltrip were still racing, I have a lesser known brand Jimmy Johnson Bush series car.I sopent well over 2 grand on my collection and then I stopped. I blister packs and even a Tony Stewart 1/16? Small Soldiers themed car. I focused on ROY cars by guessing and these were very limited first runs, I was right most of the time and I have the cars to prove it. they are for sale now. I would likely sell the entire collection for 2500. I have an inventory list and the receipts for every single car. Even the blister packs I believe.
hey smoke i have a weird question. is there a guide or anyway to learn about 1/24 scale collecting. i dont have any know how or experience. i really just want to get a few for now. i quit watching nascar at the age of 10 years old (2000-2001) i just started learning how much ive missed.
Yeah no kidding it could cost a few bucks. Especially being a Canadian and wanting to collect them. The price of the diecast is one thing, then addon shipping and it's a gut punch. Worse yet I only buy the Elites, I don't bother with the rest. I take the Elites and add lots of the detail that's missing from the engines chassis's and body. Then they go in my collection. I have had many offers to buy my cars, but I never sell them. I put to much work into them. I don't do it for money, I do it because I appreciate the cars and have the skills in modeling to create what I need thats missing and installing them to the diecast.
