I wish there were more people like you (specifically some F1 fans) who realize NASCAR isn't just going in circles. They just like to judge everything on TV when they don't realize being at the race is a fantastic experience. Thank you, kind person.
I have been to Daytona twice and let me tell you , even at 50 rows up you feel the pavement shaking and the loudness is incredible. The speed is insane. What a great experience!
Best way to watch for people just getting into it is to record the race then on Monday you skim through it. It avoids any boring sections that can be turn offs. But when it's a plate race and everyone's bunched up? That's the most fun you can have watching any type of race imo. But all sports have boring games and NASCAR gets boring huge wins too. It's all about praying for that .2 second win lol
Alberto, NASCAR is amazing and you should get yourself out to the U.S. and experience a live race, especially at places like Daytona or Talladega, you will not regret it. Once CV19 is done with of course.
I’ve never been to a NASCAR race but I have seen top fuel dirt drag racing in person before. I can tell you that those 8000 horsepower monsters will literally shake the bleachers and they are deafeningly loud. I love it lol
@@tylandyck3313 At one time, I was half owner of a NHRA drag racing team. We had two NHRA AA/FF cars. One was a former Bruce Larson's Camaro. The other we built ourselves. That car is a long nose Vega that we sold to Jungle Jim Liberman in 1974. It's at Don Garlits drag racing museum in Ocala FL now. See my profile photo. Yes, top fuel cars are super loud.
I wish that there was video and sound quality as good as this back in the 80s before they went to restrictor plates. As great as this sounds, you should have heard how great the unrestricted V8's sounded in the 80s!
There’s plenty of videos of people starting late 70’s and 80’s nascars on RU-vid. They sound exactly the same actually restrictor plates barely changed the sound until they added the boom tubes to the exhaust setups. That sound difference is the result of using different style exhaust collectors. That’s why formula one exhaust sounds like one continuous note at mid-high rpm, because it modifies the exhaust note.
@@CorruptInfinityOfficial in the early 80's the flat plane crankshafts they were using along with the h-pipe exhaust certainly produced a distinctive sound. Check out the 1984 Daytona 500 for some great examples of this.
They only use restrictor plates at 2 tracks. And even at those 2 tracks now they don’t use a restrictor plate anymore. It’s a tapered spacer. It’s really achieves the same thing though.
Attending a NASCAR race live is like attending a heavy metal concert live....both are COMPLETELY different experiences from what you see, hear, and feel on TV (or a live DVD of a concert)
@@02SplinterCell02 It’s been a killer ride since ‘99. Saw them live when Nothing came-out, and got to hang out with them. We even traded emails back in the Chaosphere days! Never thought they’d end up where they have, and can only hope they make it to a NASCAR race before the next album. 😂
What i dont like about live concert was that the performance usually not as good as the studio recording, and its packed full of people. Now if a clean studio mix played on a cutting edge sounds system, enjoyed at the best position, i would really want to experience that. To me what makes live good was the vibe. I get hype by every little thing for some reason, its like my primal instinct waking up.
I've seen plenty of Top Fuel passes but never a NASCAR fly-by. I totally understand the TF experience, so I can appreciate what the fly-by must be like. Definitely have to get to a race one of these days.
@@Boblib1970 Ive seen many NASCAR races,. But the best top fuel pass I ever saw, was John Force racing Kenny Bernstein at Rockingham. The concrete bleachers shook like an earthquake was under us.
You’re not lying, my Dad has a 600 horsepower pro street car and we’ve gone to many races and seen 6 secon cars etc. But the 1st time we finally went to a Top Fuel Race in Epping NH, we were down using the bathroom when the 1st one did a burnout, and we both looked at each other like Holy Shit, the whole ground shook. It’s almost so foreign to the senses it seems supernatural haha By the way Courtney Force beat Her dad John Force in the Finals. Couldn’t have been better.
You never appreciate the speed because the tv cameras downplay it a lot, compared to amateur videos which show these flybys in all their glory. NASCAR is the greatest motorsport. Love from the UK
Watching Nascar on TV does no justice. Gotta be there in person. The whole experience is breath taking. The loud NA V8 is amazing and your ears will bleed if you don't have any ear protection. The fans are some of the coolest and most underrated fans of any professional sport. It's one of those things you just have to be there LIVE and in PERSON. Never gets old. Love racing on Sunday.
I was given tickets to my first NASCAR Race in Talladega with one stipulation! I had to get as close to the fence as I could, which was the finish line area, and watch the cars come by 2 or 3 times, plus take a few pictures of the cars! Well I did! It's one heck of a feeling and vibration. I the cars made the last turn headed to the Finish Line area, it was a scary feeling! I NEVER was able to get any pictures, my camera simply wasn't fast enough to capture Pictures or Videos! I will never forget my first time, and every trip I made afterwards, getting next to the fence with cars going about 200 mph still scares me to this day! I loved going to these races.
Watching this on tv doesn't show how freaking fast they are. That's why when Dale Sr crashed most people thought "well that's nothing, he's ok for sure".
My mom worked at Michigan International Speedway in the 70s. Infield as an assigned lap counter, I got to go and met Petty, Yarborough, Allison brothers and more. Nothing on earth like those first several laps. It can't be described in words.
Restrictor plate racing is my favorite. All 43 cars flying past you with under 2 seconds between first and last is an experience you can’t explain. You just gotta feel it. Cheers!
It's been 20 years since I've been to a NASCAR race, but I can remember being in the bottom row at Michigan at the exit of turn 4. Super impressive. From a pure noise standpoint, the most obnoxious I've ever heard was F1 at Indy circa 2000 with the old NA V10s screaming at 20k rpm. Holy crap. My favorite though was the old CART turbo V8s. Such a great sound. I miss the engine wars of the early 1990s in CART.
Nothing like it.. Been to Bristol, pocono, Dover, Charlotte, Indianapolis, 2nd Brickyard 400, and Michigan.. YOU CAN LITERALLY FEEL THE GROUND VIBRATE... FEEL IT IN YOUR CHEST...
Looks like Daytona. We were there the year Danica won the poll. We where sitting 10 rows from the bottom, some guy comes walking by with a full plate of nachos as the cars came by, bye bye nachos!! Hilarious to say the least. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Rugby, football and basketball is all I ever grew up watching. I’ve had a lot of friends that watched NASCAR and I never understood why, until I put my headphones on and watched this clip, I had a better understanding why they watched this sport.
I'm a NHRA guy, primarily because of the in-person experience. This video has sold me on the fact that I have to attend a NASCAR race for the same reasons. Great vid.
Atlanta in the 80's getting sandblasted as they went by at 180 mph. Petty grandstand area was a grass hill, Sat on blankets and could stand right at the fence and feel the power!!
I've been to many sporting events. Standing near the fence at the Texas Nascar race when they do this at 200mph is the single most exciting thing I have ever witnessed.
It is more impressive to me to watch the individual cars go by than the first massive group because you can focus in on each car and appreciate how fast they are going. Awesome vid. Thanks.
That’s fair. I think the reason I like NASCAR flybys more is because of the sheer speed and how intimidating it looks to see the entire pack barreling towards your section at max speed.
I mean, your right, but damn there nothing like watching a wall of cars come at you nearing 200 mph and you see 30 cars go by in 2 seconds. Ah the rush.
Oh the memories this brings back.. being a kid, going to The Winston.. braving the chicken bone section to get next to the fence.. Ooh the sun burns...
I've only ever been to one NASCAR race, and it was at Pocono Raceway. I totally need to go again. Nothing compares to the sounds and the smells of all those racecars firing up and tearing around the track.
Having just come back from my first ever race this weekend at Charlotte (2022 coke 600) I now understand how loud and awesome this is. I didn’t get this close up but I still fully understand the speed and sound now. So cool!!
Haven't been to a Nascar race in a long time but boy does that bring back the memories, Nothing better than standing just feet from the sound and the 200+ mph speed of those cars going by...
I used live in New Hampshire and we watched the trucks practice one weekend and no matter how far away you went it just got louder you could feel the rumble in your stomach!!!
Can't pick a better place to experience a first time NASCAR fly-by, that's awesome! I'm just glad there wasn't a gnarly Ryan Newman-style wreck in front of her.
my first was my favorite driver bobby labontes 500th start. a richmond weekend my neighbors invited me too when i was in middle school. I first saw the secondary race the day before which he was also in, but the noise I heard on the cup race the first lap made me smile oh so wide. it is loud as heck and you somehow get used to it as the race goes on.
Words cannot describe the noise of these cars flying by. It's UNREAL. People describe it as thunder, but that doesn't do it justice. IT'S MUCH LOUDER THAN THUNDER.
I remember the first time we were at Daytona in 94 and went to the fence to look at the track during practice............................................that was unreal!
I don’t care what kind of racing you’re into. These guys flying around at 200+…43 cars with 800 HP, the flybys are earth shattering, the roll bys on cautions are soul inspiring.
A lot of people make fun of it but it really is a serious Motorsport, and it isn’t just confined to round round races. They do all sorts of road courses and NASCAR itself has a couple different classes of racecar, you might like the Aussies’ V8 Supercar series, they mainly do road courses and tracks and are much more handling focused
@@devincoleman2870 Going on person is completely different experience. The atmosphere, the smell of the exhaust and tires, food. Its a much more exciting experience.
That's awesome I remember the 1st time I went to Talladega when they went flying by on the 2nd lap at full speed You better be hanging on to your hat the back draft is yes unbelievable.
One of my best NASCAR memories..Fall Race 1999 I was in chicken bone alley at start/finish at Talladega...I was drunk..had left the bitching wife at home 2 days before...Earnhardt won..it was a religious experience. I shed a tear.
Tennessee preparedness my first Talladega race was Fall 03, then in Fall 04 when Dale Jr won. Needless to say we was still there Monday at noon partying... That race was my 21st birthday and will never have that good of experience again. Those was the best days of Nascar
Great video!!! Watch on TV for years then finally went to a race in irwindale, California, and it literally blew me away how fast and loud it is!!!‼️👍👍😮
Used to go to Daytona in the 80's and watch Bill Elliott fly in that red #9 Coors Thunderbird. Nothing like having the pack come by at 210MPH. What a Rush!
....My family and I were walking up and over the race track on a bridge (Chicago) that get's you into the venue. Then boom the cars whizzed by in a tight formation. The whole group turned around looked at each other and said Wow we are 100 Nascar fans-forever. Right then in that moment. Done! We were laughing giggling. The energy of those cars on that track is crazy amazing. Big smiles. I finally get it!
So great live . When you're at the track. I have never been to Daytona . I usually go to Loudon. The people you meet are great and the parties and people legit just inviting you in there site for food, drink and games . . I love it just like being on a tour with your band . Friends .
I don't give a damn about the racing. I go for the pounding sensation in my whole body (mostly my chest), the breathtaking smell of racing ethanol blend, and the wonderful smell of Goodyear rubber.
For everyone who has never been to a race. You will never fully understand how loud and rumbly these cars are when they go by on the first lap they shake the stands
I can't imagine the sandblasting people endure standing there as those humongous Jumbo-Jets (especially the 747's) spool-up for take off 😰 As much as that must STING, it's not nearly as CRAZY as standing there while those same Monster's fly directly over your head, at less than 100 feet while landing 🤢
