Nascars ads are to agressive its like popup ads that hit you evey few minutes and cant be closed for 30 seconds.. its uncapptable if they want people to not lose interest. its killing their ratings thing thing is they would prob make more money with less agressive advertising cause this is killing ratings and that cost them alot more money than the agressive ads bring in i think.

I'm so glad to see you do a video about how bad the coverage on Fox is. It's atrocious. We miss a lot of the race for different reasons. Sometimes they're showing some kind of interview during the race. And when they come back from commercial they'll show some graphics or something else even when the race is going on.

The camera angles during every race have also become atrocious. Race weekends are now just races. Stripped to the bare bones. No "weekend" or big event coming to town feeling. No Speed channel, no significant practice coverage or traditional qualifying. Anybody else miss Trackside Live and all the big personalities? It's as passive as the day's NBA game. WWE went through a similar fall in recent years, and has since recovered it's popularity by going back to the things that used to work. Nascar needs to follow that. Literally, just completely recreate what they did '04 to about 2012.

I'm 70 years old and after reading all these comments about the coverage I think back to the 1960's with ABC's Wide World of Sports with Jim McKay ....... maybe 20 minutes of coverage then off to basket weaving competition in Norway ..... Then back to the race with 10 laps to go.... A high lite from back then was a in car still picture on the cover of Stock Car Racing magazine! This new generation has NO IDEA how good they have it now! On the other hand NASCAR and Goodyear have made these cars a mess with too much downforce and way too much grip . I'm so SICK of hearing about "clean air ". And now back to basket weaving ................ :)

As a Belgian we aren't used to that amount of ads during a sports game/race or even films on tv. I watch the races on youtube but the adds are shown as well and it's annoying as hell. Never understood why there are so many add breaks in an hour of tv programs...cit surely could be done different 😬

This is why I'm happy I live in Norway. Whenever FOX have commercial breaks, the norwegian channel that has the rights to Nascar, continue to show footage of the race, with the engine sounds and all that (without commentators in that moment), so I could still watch the race and everything that might happen, and everything that did happen during the commercial break.

This isn't just a Nascar thing. Production quality has been downhill for every major motorsport; F1, Indy, Endurance, even MotoGP recently has noticeably declined. No one has coordination between the commentators and the camera direction. No one is using all the tools available. Picture in picture is a big one that is under used. F1 uses it like once every 3 races and there are always big overtake moments that get missed cause the camera direction is focused on something else and they choose not to use picture in picture at that time for some reason. The overdone and poorly timed ads seem to be a Nascar thing. I haven't seen anything that bad in the other motorsports.

I watch NASCAR from abroad, with a local PBP announcer, only cutting to the US audio feed when a pitlane reporter is on. The international video feed doesn't show the commercials, instead it just continues with the regular camera feeds, although usually it does default to the blimp cam, which gives us a clear indication there's a commercial break in the US. Meanwhile our announcer just keeps on commenting on the race while the normal feed.... But looking a those moments even I can see how godawful many commercial breaks there are and how much happens during those commercials. Our announcer sometimes even mentions that 'Our American colleagues must be on a commercial, because I hear nothing on their audio feed'

The idea that NASCAR could have remote broadcasting for the Cup Series is absurd. During the first year and a half of the pandemic, it made sense to have TV broadcasters call games remotely, but there’s no reason to continue doing that. Broadcasters need to see what’s going on and have much more visuals when they’re at the track than just relying on hundreds of cameras. However, it saves television companies money not having to pay for their travel and other expenses- which is the reason why the Truck Series won’t return to in-person broadcasting.

I've loved NASCAR close to 30 years. They need to bring back victory lane, dramatically decrease the on board shots, get rid of the backward on board shots except for the replays of wrecks, get rid of that big scorers box that takes up a quarter of the screen and go back to the scrolling ticker, AND GET RID OF THE DIRT AT BRISTOL!

"I'm not gonna sit here and say I have a degree in video production" - yeah, but you're the customer. And you're accurately saying what all of us customers felt. That broadcast was awful. Not the commentators or anything, just how they decide what to show, how they come back from commercial and it's a caution lap, they show a quick replay. I'd rather have silent commercials in the corner for the entire race than 3 minute breaks with 20 laps to go.

The real base problem with nascar all around is that they do not want to do any more than 10% of what the fans want. They will say they do but obviously they don't. The racing product is garbage. The fans asked for these disaster of 'racing' cars? I doubt it. We hear the old line of how the drivers need nascar, but nascar doesn't need them. Well nascar doesn't seem to realize they need the fans ($) or they have nothing. But we are put way off the priority list. And we keep taking it, so it goes on.

The first thing wrong is the on screen vertical scoring bar with 25% screen width. Bafflingly bad idea thats driven me nuts for years now. Whoever agreed to this must be blind, or think this is golf, or bowling coverage. The old horizontal, 2 layer scroll at the top of the screen is so much better for viewing and the camera operators. They could still cut to the current one from time to time, under caution, etc. Seems almost every week is a new low for the chimp they have toggling cameras.

I look back to the glory days of broadcasting. You guys are not old enough to have seen it. It was in the early techno era, before the internet, social media and reality tv. The first satellite dishheses were large and received an analog sygnal. The beauty of these was that the viewer had access to the wild or raw feed of a broadcast. This meant no commercials. During the commercial, you would still be watching the race and listening to whatever the announcers were talking about. These existed even after the channels were scrambled. I would love to go back to 1990 again.

I have less of an issue with the coverage as with the racing product itself. The final laps were mostly gridlocked without any moves being made until about 2 to go. People just sitting tight in p20 not even trying to make something happen because there is nowhere to go. That is not racing.

SKY sports coverage of F1 races has moved half of their reporters to a remote studio and it SUCKS! I watch it because I need my 'fix'. I used to watch NASCAR religiously, but now I just record and fast forward through the race. I turn FF off when I see a caution and at 10 laps to go. The CEOs need to be paid. The same problem that ruined boeing exists at almost every public company. Board members and execs get paid tons of free stock until they secure their board seats with personal stock. Then they act like a small owner group and make decisions that benefit them, not actual investors. This is why every product is being cheapened and worker pay is dropping. They cannot improve customer numbers, but they can cut corners and underpay workers to boost profits, so that is what they do.

The number of commercials is almost certainly NASCAR's fault. I stopped watching NASCAR when I started watching other race series where knocking your competitor out of the way to win, and blocking your competitor, were illegal. Such as F1, WEC, IMSA, etc. Seeing NASCAR drivers knock the leader out of the way, and then go on to proclaim their great driving win, versus a WEC or F1 driver try to take the lead, many times, many ways, without contact, and finally cleanly passing the leader, is just much better racing. Seeing a LeMans Cup driver hold off a competitor lap after lap, without blocking or hard contact, is spectacular racing. NASCAR is just not.

The coverage, the amount of commercials and even the poor quality of camera angles didn't bother me in the least. That's probably because you couldn't pay me to watch a NASCAR race. I was a raging NASCAR fan back in the day. When they went PC and dropped the Winston Cup, I was irritated. Then, when they went to this abomination of "playoff" style racing, I was done. I guess now there are "stages" to each race? WTF? NASCAR took an amazing sport and dropped it right in the middle of the toilet, ordered 10 Taco Bell bean burritos and camped out on the seat. Why anyone would waste 2 seconds watching a NASCAR race is beyond me.

I've been a Nascar fan since the 70s and I've watched Nascar shoot it's self in the foot more times than not. Fox used to be good at televising Nascar but since streaming and boring mile and a half tracks they have fallen beyond NBC. The boring mile and a half tracks the commentators have to work twice as hard to make the race interesting almost to the point that you wonder what race are they watching. And yes I think it's awful that they don't pay attention to other drivers that aren't up front. These teams work super hard just to get sponsors and Fox can't even give them a shout out. I'm not sure what is going to happen with Nascar in the coming years as well as Fox and NBC but all of it is a far cry from yesterday.

Stage racing is terrible and it seems like the majority of fans hate it. If they want to award points within a race or incentivize running up front there’s better ways to do it. Increase the points for most laps led. If stages must happen, just award the points under green flag there’s literally no reason to throw a caution for a “stage ending” just award the points and keep going.

I'd say the uptick in commercials in recent years is due to Nascar not being as popular as it used to be. No Earnhardt, Stewart, Gordon, Johnson, etc is bad for business. Nascar struggles to sell out races now and have probably lost A LOT of views on television. Fox makes up for that loss with commercials every 5 minutes.

I just watch the international streams bc I get annoyed seeing the same commercials every break and I guess their camera crews are seeking out kids rather than action on the racetrack but here's some of the good things they've done this year: -Highlighting driver pit crews -Kevin Harvick who has insight and works well with Bowyer -New graphics like the yellow light thing that highlights cars Now here's the things that they've done the worst on: -Crank it up (Its fine on pit road sometimes but if its every race then its stupid bc its fun to listen to the cars on the racetrack and the fact they have cut back on it is more frustrating bc NBC doesn't do it) -Zooming in (It's not just 1 or 2 cars on the racetrack guys even for 20th they're racing) -Commercials (I get that you need to show them to get paid but when its every 10-15 laps then it is so annoying bc nobody wants to watch 3 minutes of ads and miss 5 laps of racing) -Cameras (If you have cameras around almost the entire track then there is no reason to miss something of importance like a crash) -Audio (Its been a problem for years but when you play onboard audio during a crash and its not on an onboard it is just annoying bc that's all you hear for a camera instead of cars sliding or other noises) -Cartoon crap (You all have production days for a reason and yet only Xfinity and Trucks use real driver photos) -Truck booth (No disrespect to Jamie Little but she is not cut out to be a commentator pit road is where she is actually good I'd rather listen to Vince Welch bc he had some very few good calls)

As someone who has worked on small scale film crews and live sport productions. The network would send you either a time based (every 7-13 minutes is standard) or a organizational based schedule (Every Timeout/Quarter end) And you HAVE to follow it. The big one can be happening but if been 7-13 minutes without a commercial you have to go to commercial or be sued anywhere from 1k to 50K PER mistimed commercial break. Since it would break contract. I wouldn't be surprised if Nascar and Fox did a "bad" deal for the audience where it's every x number of laps or the standard minutes. Jake, during the next race, see if theirs a repeating number of time off or x number of laps for the commercials. As far as direction goes. In the order of hierarchy of any production. The excusive producer, Assistive/Assistant Directors and the regular producer will out weight any choices a director makes. Directors are only fourth in command. If a producer who brought ride aboard cameras want to make their moneys worth. You have to show them, because their ruling and opinion matters more. Why? The producer can fire a director but a director can't fire a producer. Also the director sees every camera. Assuming a low Est for car to have 8 cameras, 4 per straight and corner of tally and 20 for misc. 1-4 people are making judgment calls about picking one out of a Est 200 cameras. Please think about that for a moment. Not to mention listening to 3-4 preview shots for audio and having 5 angry and stress people yelling at you for "Commercial in 3" or "MORE 20 because he will get us views on X" or a classic I heard as a technical director (The person who has to hit the buttons) for a ten camera shoot. "People are tuning off the stream, must go to pop" Which meant got to the most famous person on the court and stay on them to get more clicks back on. A lot goes into a live production. Especially on a scale of Nascar. It's not for the weak hearted and every mistake gets judged heavy for. Also most Drone operators are pay by the hour not the minute. SO if you have a CINE drone op for 1-10K for a hour. Realistic you want to used up all the 60 minutes you have or else you wasted money. That's just basic business. TLDR: Blame the Producers and Contacts deals NOT the Broadcasters and the operators.

Corporates are ruining it plain and simple . The sport at its core is the same. Race cars but it’s a money grab like every other pro sport. I’ve been a fan for over 40 years back when you went to the race and it had 60 merchandise trailers in the lot supporting not just those teams that were popular but the underdogs too. Yes it costs a lot and things change but they are trying to change so much that it’s literally killing the sport and not helping it thrive. Maybe it’s strategic

Nascar is just hard to watch in general anymore. I liked Nascar in the 90s and early 2000s. The chase format ruined Nascar in my mind. I miss the Winston cup and it's 5 no bull races, it's format and nostalgic feel. I miss the old cars and the ability for cup teams to actually build their own engines and chassis. This set cup teams apart from others. The new car socks. No passing, no good braking zone advantages and just a terrible product. Now you have cookie cutter drivers in cookie cutter cars. The fox broadcast is horrible. Can't stand Clint Bowyer. Hated him as a driver and he's even worse as a broadcaster. He acts like an 8 time champion instead of being an 8 race winner. He has gotten better since fox actually put a champion along side Bowyer but still terrible. Don't get me started on Michael waltrip. NBC is a lot better. Just miss old Nascar.

Too many lousy drivers, too many crashes, stage races, a stupid points system and blabbering commentators, many of whom don't know a stick shift from the one in their pants. Oh and the constant commercials. Need i say more?

i was a fan of the 80's-90's nascar series. today nascar is nothing more than a glorified iroc series. they may as well issue the teams a car and let them put stickers on em to be able to tell them apart as they are all the exact same. back in the day you had buick, olds, pontiac, chev, ford and the cars looked like the cars in the parking lot. now.... they are all the same. last time i made an attempt to watch a race i didn't make it half way as got sick of 10 minutes of commercials to see 2 laps of racing and right back to commercials. i quit years ago.....

There's plenty of great NASCAR races on youtube from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Even some clips racing on the beach in Daytona. NASCAR today is dumb.

Its not only racing but all sports in general being bombarded with comercials. A half hour sitcome your lucky if you get 15 to twenty minutes of actual shoe time.

The production fix is simple. Zoom out a little, follow the race instead of story lines, add a few cameras.

And we get charged more and more money that these cable companies started to charge about $16 a month and some don't even watch sports. Lots of many reviews. It's surprising that Nascar is that bad, they want to charge fees and I won't be watching at all after that, doesn't help that Nascar has sold off from the France family. Ever since one of the France family members were charged with DUI, it's not the same, now I always liked Michael Jordan but he owns part of Nascar with Hamlin the only way he's gonna get a championship now. Hamlin needs to go, NBC added Dale Jr. I can't stand him calling race's, I'll take Mike Joy with Clint Boywer all day long, I'd do almost anything to have a beer with Clint, just a cool guy. Also like Michael Waltrip as he's talking to driver's on pit lane, then heads up to the booth. Kevin is still learning from the Cup series. He did well calling XFINITY races before. Now watching TALLADEGA, EVERYONE WAITING FOR THIS RACE ALL YEAR LONG WITH DAYTONA FOR THOSE HIGH SPEES AND BEING ON EDGE AT WHEN WENT 200 PLUS MPH BEFORE WAS EVEN MORE EXCITING, STILL IS AND MICHAEL MCDOWELL HAD IT WON IF DIDN'T BLOCK SO HARD, SHOULD OF NOT BLOCKED BRAD AND BLOCKED THE TOYOTA NOW, I'M SURE FORD IS GIVING THEM HELL OVER NOT WINNING THERE 60TH BIRTHDAY ON THE MUSTANG NOW. LEAD MOST LAPS. Would of been close if went down to middle and not go across Brad's nose, keep the TOYOTA out and get Ford there win, I'm a huge Hendricks fan, like Larson and William Byron, along with Bowman. I don't care for Chase, he acts like it's his just like Jr did, was big Sr fan and went to Jr, I still like him but not as a driver or host. His sister does more work than he does. They act like because there dad's were the top drivers if there time, they deserved the same too. Racing is racing, and on these big tracks, they are peeling off to pit and stick with one another for manufacturing now, that's being a huge team just running, let's use older Monta Carlo's from 1975 and beat out those steal fenders out. They went fast then. Then Larson can't run for the poll because they said they made a change and starting off at the back, well, let them run and then send to back of line because I waited to watch him, I changed the channel because I couldn't watch my favorite driver. Missed most of the entire 1st points run because of basketball, start the races on another station so we don't miss out. Now it cost us money for sports and yet they have on stuff I don't care for, ready to cancel as is since can't afford the cost with all digital stuff. Killing the brain like drugs and nothing done by it. I like that little runt that won to, just hated that he went to Nascar TOYOTA TEAM, was the #3 RULE, NO FOREIGN VEHICLES RACING. We as Americans has built Japan there V8 engine to the top of its kind. Rules made up by Nascar didn't give anything to help out DODGE, I bet that some drivers might win driving some of these HELLCATS on the track with AC on and have a chance of winning. Bubba cried about the push when he turned the Jones #43 in front of him and no one pushing in that area over the bumps now. Bubba could be a good driver if he took his own words towards others when many times it's him, I Lost all respect for him when he threw some energy drink into Alex Bowman when sitting on the ground needed help from heat stroke and Jeff Gordon was right there, and he throws energy drink into a guy down and out couldn't defend himself at all, now I would still be wrecking him and wait until coming up being me to drop 1/2 tags out the window net hoping he picks up the 2 I drop out just for him with no one behind him. Then tacs can roll off track hopefully and have some type of glue when hits ground that it sticks good. Screw him. Also like Jordan and don't know why Mercedes aren't going after him for that brand look, now him jumping in air was his normal thing, not having a circle around him that from 5 feet away looks just like Mercedes logo and thought Tyler Reddick was running Mercedes which was shocking to another vehicle company until I heard it's Michael's brand and its cool, no its a rip off from Mercedes now. Please tell me if I'm wrong that it looks like Mercedes logo from Jordan brand, 1st time I ever seen that one. Never seen a circle around his logo. The guy with arm in air and showing off sneakers as well.

Plain and simple, stage racing sucks and this is the most boring group of drivers I've ever seen. On another subject, can we please get rid of Martinsville. Those races are unwatchable, too many cars for such a small flat track, and I grew up on short track racing. How about running it like a local track and having heat races where only the top 24 make the feature, fewer cars more passing. I agree with other commenters, what used to be mandatory viewing is now just on in the background in case it actually has decent action. Dirt is for racing, asphalt is for getting there.

Instead of trying to make the racing better, NASCAR(NotAnyStockCarsAreRacing) keeps digging the hole deeper, and the races are getting unbearable to watch. NASCAR has taken a once great American sport and ruined it.

If this new car is ever going to work they need to get rid of stage racing, slightly reduce the fuel tank, and boost the hp.

Need way less grip so you would actually have racing. Get rid of most of the downforce and get rid of steamroller tires

@helpful5539 I prefer the stock cars of yesteryear, but I was talking about making these cars work. You're not wrong about these tires though. The moment they do lose traction and slide they pop off the rim and damage the car.

NASCAR whored themselves out to Fox so Fox holds all the cards when it comes to the broadcast. The only way this will change is if people stop watching and ratings plummet. I used to never miss a race but once NASCAR went totally woke I tuned it out pretty much completely.

Ys it seems the bean counters are directing motorsports. The last Nascar race was bad-Superspeedways are interesting, and the road courses, but Indy and Nascar are falling behind. At the same time F1 is doing well, because F1 focuses on the Cars/teams and the driving, not so much on the drivers, and sponsors. Cheers from the Pacific West Coast of Canada.

Especially when those idiots on the morning drive on SiriusXM basically talk like NASCAR does no wrong. I believe it’s Mike Bagley and he is an idiot total NASCAR mark we need more people like you to call NASCAR out on their bullshit.

Excuse me for my rant here, but im tired of people whining about fox. Yes, the amount of commedcials is bad, but its not any worse than it was last year, not to mention fox is much better this year, so saying that "fox is at a new low" is an incredible overstatement. The booth is so much better now that kevin harvick is here, evryone has improved and are actually commentating on the race and doing a great job, and in my opinion its even better than NBC (mostly cause none of them constantly scream constantly and are just in general annoying like jeff burton or rick allen) And NBC definitely does have lots of commercials too, not on the same level as fox but still, its a lot. Im tired of people treating NBC like the greatest thing to happen in human history and Fox like the worst. Im not saying that fox doesnt have any issues and is flawless, cause it 100% does, but the fact that people are seemingly complaining even more when fox has gotten so much better this year is ridiculous and its getting annoying.
