Anything that can be done about the exhaust flame textures down into T1? Seems like a transparency issue in the direct sunlight down on that side of the track.
@@TheFleckening I think that's hardcoded into the exe itself. The flames come out when you let off the throttle or rev the car at high RPMs. The only thing I can think of may be to edit the .mip of the flame.
Excellent looking mod on an old game that still looks awesome! Even me,a Brit, remembers this era of NASCAR, on SKY, used to watch it late at night. Used to be fascinating watching them pass each other, within millimeters at 180mph plus 😲 my mate at the time asked me who the hell was talking all the time when they showed an in-car view, I explained who the spotter was, he replied "How the hell does he concentrate with that going on in his ear all the time?" 🤣 excellent video, thank you 👍
Glad to see this gaming getting some videos still in 2021. Never knew about this game until 11 months ago. The amount of mods, the small details in such an old game put these new ones to shame. Give them graphical and engine upgrades these would beat some games. They play nice on the wheel too.
I was there for qualifying & the that race ! 😆🏁 I also spent quite a bit ok time at the old road course that was once there....... Bryar Motorsport Park ( a cool road course ) My sisters boyfriend was helping a guy who raced there..... this was in the late 60's but that's where my love for racing started ! That track and also the historic.... New England Dragway In Epping NH Just for the channel, have a feeling I will be spending lots of time here ! ✌😎
Another great race, Jake! It was also my home state track and loved seeing the combination races with the Modifieds and the Busch North. I was at that inaugural Budweiser 300 race. After the race we couldn't even get out of the parking lot until after dark around 8:30 pm. due to the massive traffic jam leaving the track and on Route 106. Things were so new for them at NHIS ( what it was called back then) for their first big race with a sellout crowd in attendance. They hadn't worked out the logistics yet of clearing the parking lots, but the Bahre family fixed all of that in short time. You haven't seen racing until you've seen the shows that the Modifieds put on there. Once again thanks for another very entertaining video. (Btw... I did the ratings for Chris Akin for his 1990 BGN car sets. Glad to see they gave you a good competitive run.) ;) Send me a PM and tell me what opponent difficultly you ran that race at and what you used as a setup. J.R.
Great memories! I worked for Davey Johnson and was at this race. He is still one of my best friends. I moved to North Carolina with him right out of high school after working on his dirt late model team for a couple years. Lost an engine going in to turn 3 in that race and Dave still says that is probably the hardest he ever hit the wall. You need to get the V6 sounds for this Mod as these cars were V6 powered at the time. Great video though!
As someone who lives about 45 minutes from Pocono I know how you feel. Pennsylvania has a rich history of racing. With Nazareth closed and basically all but gone, there's not a lot of nascar worthy racing locations in the area, and a lot of people hate the track and want it gone. Hopefully with the new car New Hampshire will have better racing.
For my money the 1993 CART round is one of the absolute best ever races, CART always put on a good show and the Mods are absolutely amazing there, really. The 1993 intro to the 300 race was absolutely iconic, Ken Squier back in New England waxing lyrical about his home region....it even had shots at the media. Anything you can't swing at or put through a hoop wasn't deemed to be a real sport...
Yo, Jake! At 14:29 you start to say something, "I didn't mention this too much in the intro, but this race..." and you never finished what you were saying! I can't believe no-one else has mentioned this in the 2 years since you did this
My gosh those Busch North cars really brought back a lot of childhood memories. I only ever saw one Busch North race, right around this timeframe when I was in Kindergarten at Monadnock but I remember a lot of those cars, they’re iconic in the northeast.
Also, regarding the car set, I can tell you as someone who has researched the Busch North series extensively that the cars representing that series are dead-on. That Kelly Moore #47 car shown in the intro is gorgeous. Moore is still racing part-time at Oxford Plains Speedway and attempts the 250 every year.
I'm from New Hampshire and my family has raced in ACT and all over New England. My dad actually was given Keith Bryars sled dogs when he passed away. Thank you for making this, it makes me feel good I'm not alone lmao especially on PC with NR2003 and racing games. 😊
I was at the first CART (1992) and Cup (1993) races at New Hampshire as well as a few more Cup races after. It was not exactly convenient to get to from New Jersey, so those were some interminable-feeling road trips. But it was a cool facility, almost as nice from a fan perspective as the similarly sized (but presumably higher-budget since Penske owned it) Nazareth. I specifically remember they shipped in Tom Carnegie to be the track announcer for the CART race to give it that Indy feel, and I specifically remember him making reference to the oval project being a "build it and they will come" shot in the dark, so it was cool to hear you make that same movie reference here. I have no idea what the track has been like in the SMI era, but back when it was still NHIS, I loved it, and it's cool to see an early '90s version of it again. Plus in more recent times, it was the backdrop for my favorite moment of the entire IRL era (Will Power's double birds at Brian Barnhart, expressing what so many of us had felt for so long). Okay, I know, that's post merger, but they were still racing the IRL cars.
Great video. I used to love racing NR2003 . I love how you can adjust everything on the car. I'm curious if any racing sim today allows all the tweaking that NR2003 did. Thx for sharing.
IndyCar's one-and-done return in 2011 always perplexed me. Surely they didn't expect it to be a huge success the first year, especially only a few years after the end of the split? If they go back (and I really hope they do!) they need to plan ahead and work towards rebuilding the New England fanbase over several years.
I used to go to NHMS every September for the cup race weekend starting in 1998. I watched Joe Nemechek win his first race, and also saw Ryan Newman's first win. The modifieds and Busch North (or Busch East - can't remember what they were called) put on an amazing show every time they raced. Eventually, the fan turnout to these fall races was less and less and they eventually stopped going there twice a year. And to be honest, NASCAR has become so much different than it was back then that I don't really even watch it anymore. But great video! And talking about it brings me back!
Man, you're pretty harsh on the racing at our home track. The Cup races the last couple of years have been very good. I think the older cars just weren't built for flat-track racing, but the gen 6 cars have been really solid at New Hampshire. This year they didn't even use PJ1. It was nice to hear some love for New Hampshire come through the broadcast this weekend. Of course Jeff Burton loves the track, but Dale Jr. kept saying he loved it too, and then Aric Almirola even said it was one of his favorites. To me it's become apparent that the best tracks for NASCAR are the ones where drivers have to use their brakes. That's why I think the new Atlanta is probably going to suck.
I know you do the classic racing stuff which is awesome and why I love this channel so much with a lot of history of Motorsport I probably would never know about but I race short track irl in a pro truck which I have a couple on board videos from on my yt if you wanna checkout but I’d love to see some iracing short track or just some oval content for a couple videos there isn’t a lot of that on RU-vid but anyway keep the videos coming I appreciate all the content you put out
As my home track too it's great to see this race. You're right though the modifieds are crazy to watch around here. Great mod! Can't wait to see it in person this year!
29:05 to 29:08 when the Pacecars Colour changes from Red to Yellow within a glimpse. We need this in any Motorsport make them Chameleon Liveries based on Flags.
The lack of side-by-side racing has less to do with the track and more to do with the fact the cars have been allowed to be engineered to damn-near full-bodied F1 cars. The only decent racing there is now is at the restrictor plate tracks and that only lasts as long as 'the big one" happens.
