When the mouth is speechless...music take it's place and say the things as it should be!! [It describes the American bombardment to Amiriyah shelter during gulf war, which killed 800 civilian, most of them were women and children]
Translation to what Nasser said " I don't like to finish this evening, but I have to. ( Happened at Al-Amiriya) I wrote this piece inside Al-Amiriya shelter, after we took the children outside. statistic said there were 400 to 500 children killed, but I know we took over 800 dead children from the shelter (1991). Unfortunately, I witnessed that crime. Inside me, I look to it as the beginning of the new world collapsing. the collapse of morals, rules, and scales that control the human faith and resources. Al- Amiriya was not the only incident there were others. Part of those was because of the regime (Saddam gov.) and others because of enemies from outside Iraq. Perhaps because Iraq has an old civilization that laid a lot of humanity, since, education, art, language, literature, and orbit since. Everything we hear about today and enjoy today is because five civilizations lived in Mesopotamia. When the second gulf war stopped I asked Moaed Saed the manager of the Iraqi museum to open the museum and let me play on my Oud inside. The blood was not dry yet not in our vassals nether in the soil. The museum gate was built to close with brackets. From the outside looked like a wall. We broke the wall and opened the gate. I sat between two winged bulls each one of them weighted 37 tons. Behind me was the god of wisdom Nabo and on my left and right Shingles Babylonian captivity of the Jews. And all Assyrian life and all creative productions of Akkadians, Babylonians, and Sumerians. And all other civilizations that have been through this country like Our civilization. I played on my Oud and told the people "from here we shall begin". This is Iraq. This is the depth of Iraq. The present is not on our side. We must go out from this place to the future. We shall work for the generation that will come after us. We are proud that civilizations give us all these achievements, which only art archived. Americans wanted to destroy that land that I stood on one day (the museum) when I told the Iraqis from here we shall begin. It is like they came to Iraq (2003) to tell me personally "Now where you will stand", but I stand with a musical instrument that is 3500 B.C old. I don't want to say meaningless words, but with this instrument (Oud) I will expose America and Britain to the world"
thanks a million Salim for this translation! As I and many others, that don't understand Arabic language, this translation help us understand more and more what Naseer speaks with his Oud!!
I heard this masterpiece many times.. Naseer Shamma described the American and British air strike on Al Amyria shelter in Iraq where 800 Iraqi children killed burning in cold blood.. The piece started with children playing in peace and the calm atmosphere of simple joy, then the strike begins at the minute 8:25 , death, crying, horror, terror.. Then the sadness and mourning .. Then hope rises again from the land of of 6 thothand years civilization..Iraq stands up again..the flame of resistance and life .. At the end comes the national song of Iraq
Prayers for all of Iraq, what a mess those sons of Bushs have made of Iraq, they will have to answer to God soon for their crimes against humanity, much love to all that read this from, im from Texas
May the savagery of human greed and the inhumanity of man one day be replaced with the beauty of music of the soul such as this, and may we embrace these emissaries who remind us of what all of humanity should aspire to, this piece has opened my eyes and I stand with you there in this, I stand with you in your pain, I weep for us the ragged children of god in our "clothes of light all dressed to kill. May He end this night if it be His will." For those not familiar with this atrocity en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiriyah_shelter_bombing
Today is the anniversary i was there ...i remember it second by second ....i like to ask the pilot who bombing ..about his feeling this night (Is it a coincidence the day before valentine..??

it's very rare to see genius at work and here it is. The piece itself, the skill of the playing, and utter emotion. It's one of the most profound pieces of music I've ever heard.

America ordered the bombing of Amiriyah shelter in spite of the knowledge that all of them are innocent, but they had information said that Saddam is inside this shelter inspects the Iraqi poeple, so America wanted to kill him, and the victim of this crime hundreds of Iraqis got burned. I remember before this war began, Saddam was being held US hostages from Kuwait and he did not hand them over to America, due to his condition to America said Israel should get out of Palestine. American government assumed that is inhumanity and immoral behavior from Saddam. The same people who assumed that, the same people who later killed the Iraqis in Amiriyah shelter.
I would love to have a translation or summary of his introductory presentation. Could a voluntary arabic-english translator do a quick translation of the context of this beautiful song. Thank you.

It starts with how beautiful life is. Then the American army commits the crime; one of thousands of crimes all over the world. And Naser concludes with the misery of his people that time. I sometimes wonder how could America destroy hundreds of nations only for oil, resources, and political and militarian control. But this is life. They destroyed my country too, and left us in misery, pretending they are fighting ISIS; but they were the ones who created it.
These children went to heaven and their mothers cried for them. Where are you going, Bush and Blair? Because of this disgrace, all the free people of the world should demand that these criminals be brought to justice. I write this while crying the innocence of these children and the inability of billions of people to defend them or even try to take their right. Their souls will haunt us. I apologize to you children of the world.
