Sir, you did the best you could and no one should ever say anything different. You have my respect forever.

You were where you were meant to be you are a good officer you got in there without your normal team and you all worked well together to stop the killings as soon as humanly possible.

Officer Rex Engelbert, I salute you officer. I watched your body camera footage and analyzed the situation from my viewpoint. I know that your teammates were a vital part of your success during this horrific ordeal, but the way you took control of this situation and built your QR task force without hesitation was outstanding and overtly shows that you are an alpha male, exude extreme leadership qualities, and are willing to sacrifice your own safety for the well being of others. Officer Rex Engelbert, you, Sir, are the primary reason that the carnage was reduced to a minimum! We salute you! I look forward to watching you receive MNPD's Medal of Valor along with your teammates in the near future. Chief Joe Casey, the greatest Chief in the history of the Metro Nashville Police Department would be proud of your valor, Sir.

Extremely humble young man that obviously is doing the best he can just to make it through his recollection of the horrific events he encountered that day. Kudos to him and the others for unselfishly entering the school and disposing of the threat. I’m sure without a doubt they saved countless other lives.

What a G! He said when he was relieved of his duties and instructed to sit in his car, was difficult for him since there was still so much work to be done. This the type of police to be respected.

I’m overwhelmed with how fast these officers responded! They did such a good job! These men went in quickly not knowing if they may be shot, but they knew they had to act quickly to save the children.

Officer Rex Engelbert was in the right time and place that day. It wasn’t even his assigned jurisdiction since he is from central but he was in the metro area when the call was made so he answered the call for service. For all he knew, fate gave him that crucial role to stop the assailant from murdering another children and innocent lives. Indeed, he answered and delivered his call of service.

These officers went in as strangers and came out as brothers, all became a part of a team they never wanted to be a part of. Being trained to do & doing it are totally different, I’m not sure Hero is good enough for them, they are Saviors. Total badass...these are the cops that inspire me to become a police officer.

40+ years of dealing with several police forces mostly as a young idiot, being a Nashvillian I mostly interacted with MNPD officer's who overall are some of the best in my opinion even when they arrested me twice as a 18-19 year old (deservingly so). A good example how well trained officer's get it done while being respectful, real class acts from traffic stops to horror shows like this.

For many years I thought that if one day I was present during a shooting i would be as brave as some of this people . Till One day I was doing last minute shopping before a flight when I found my self in a mall shooting. I was by my self and I remember been scared hiding under the rack of clothing wile people ran in huge panic . Luckily it was just false alarm and this was a prank some teenagers made. This is why Now i understand this is beyond courage that the police academy cant provide . This officer just an instinct to react and maintain confidence. Great job !!
