I would say gently keep hair detangled and groomed or braid gently and band among a few other options. Either way, keep hair moist and protected with oil during the time. No need to overhandle it.

So if you transition from Sisterlocks to knotted locks, what happens to the grid? When you let your hair grow for 3 months do you start new knotted locks where the parts of the grid is to actually get rid of the grid?

Hi Mrs Tunisia. I love this video Take in consideration your locs can thin out due to not taking care of your locs, underlining medical issues, medication , past relaxed hair, and also adding crochets and braids over your locs, and from locticians not using the tool properly. Everybody locs don’t thin from having small locs. ❤ knotted locs can be good for some people and not good for some people. A lot of clients don’t tell the truth about what they do to their hair as well. You can also lose locs no matter what type of the client choose weather it’s sisterlocks, knotted locs, micro locks etc

Hello Love!! I definitely agree with what you are saying for sure. There are often multiple culprits. So many. Overall health is always a concern for hair. I am suggested though that with little/ small locks, the locs themselves are where we can often find the culprit(s). There are multiple unhealthy practices that WILL cause hair loss overtime that are a part of this style that have little to do with anything else. The data is clear. It's yet to be talked about so vocally and it's time. Often people feel safe because they aren't YET experiencing the fallout or consequences of these styles and the maintenance required. It is sure to come. This channel's focus will highlight the issues with small locs. These too can be the issue with larger locs and is based on conversations I am having and investigation I am doing. But, my work and experience is here. Although I often speak about other contributors to hair loss and areas to pay attention to, this is the elephant in the room. My goal is to arm people with the knowledge to make better decisions, including the locticians themselves (where it applies). Also to your point about the wearer herself, yes I agree. Many of us continually do things that contribute to the problem. Some willingly, others in ignorrance. This is why we must raise awareness. If it's one person's problems, it's all of our problem. Too many women who have no underlying issues etc are being saddled with hair loss where hair grows back immediately upon ceasing with the locs. People who have damage from past relaxers shouldn't beer steered towards these locks as a panacea until they can get their hair healthy. There's a lot to be unpacked and we need to get busy unpacking it. It's an issue of personal responsibility, education, unmasking and due diligence. I love your share and I appreciate hearing your voice because this is a huge area that needs a lot more exploration than it's been getting. We need locticians like yourself to continue the conversation with clients and within the profession. When folks get these locks installed we take home with us a basic understanding of care. The conversation must be on more than braid and banding or what interval one just do a reti at/on. In the end, that's not going to save anyone from dreadful hair loss.
