The most underrated storyline on the show honestly. I’m hoping they’d dive deeper into this plot on season 3. Their relationship is so disturbing and intriguing at the same time.
I never realised it before but when Nate is under his blanket texting Jules he's smiling..not an evil smile...a happy one....no one can see that smile he's fucked up in the head but i do believe everything he said to Jules as Tyler he meant.

As a person who has been in two abusive relationships abusive behavior is still toxic behavior. So there makes the person a toxic person. You can’t say someone isn’t toxic but still call them an abuser as if that behavior excuses them from being toxic.
The character of Jules taught me how to have courage even when you're so scared your voice shakes. The character of Nate taught me what to look for in people who lie when they say they love you. Don't do her dirty like this.

I kinda feel like nate is really into Jules all this time because he was never satisfied with Maddie and Cassie. Jules was also into rue but they didn't end up together.
My toxic trait is that I still want them to be together somehow. Because Jules & Nate are the only pairing out of them, Nate & Maddie, Nate & Cassie, and Jules & Rue that actually had a relationship that went deeper than 'i'm obsessed with you', "i want you because you're all i've ever had', 'you're my lifeline'. Like all the rest of them, Nules' relationship was founded off of lies. Nate pretended to be Tyler and then blackmailed Jules. But they actually fell for each other in a pseudo-innocent way. Jules just wanted someone to talk to and fell for Tyler with no ulterior motives. Nate was pretending to be someone he was not and lied about his father not being in his life, but other than that, all his answers and feelings were actually surprisingly sincere. And at the end of the day, it always ties back to those two. When he was with Maddie in Season 1, he was texting Jules and putting most of his attention to Jules (over text). In Season 2, he kept on having flashes of Jules' face when he was with Cassie, signaling that she was lowkey just a stand in for Jules since they are both blonde. And then in the car scene, he confesses how all his feeling he displayed as Tyler are how he actually feels. Jules is the only one he's ever allowed himself to be truly vulnerable with and if he is able to actually atone for all of his sins (and not just pretend that he has), I feel like they could be something great. The chemistry is certainly there.
I like live for them lol I love them soooooo much. I’m addicted to their relationship. They are my fav storyline throughout the whole show. Sam is really hinting of them being together. Idk if they will be endgame but I really hope they are. Those two deserve the world.
nate's a terrible person, but after realising his childhood trauma in season 2. and the way he said "everything I ever said was true" to jules... it makes you realise there is probably more to him than meets the surface.

I feel like Nate was sabotaging something that he knew made him happy because of his dad/reputation. I think he’s finally going to accept it and get with Jules in season 3.

I have known a guy like this for 8 years, I really liked him for real and he "liked me" aswell but he is a sociopath, he comes back to my life once in a while after I block him from everywhere and I truly believe he is not capable of actually love and care for someone. Last time I had him blocked for about 4 years and I regretted unblocking him and accepting his "apologies" because everything is a trick all the time no matter how much time passes by. That kind of people never change. It is just sad because sometimes like in my case you really end up caring and loving them. But there is nothing you can do, they just keep hurting you but at the same time they tell you they do want you. You just have to trust your gut, distance yourself and keep telling yourself they don't actually love you, no matter how much they tell you otherwise, actions speak more than words.
Definitely the most interesting plot in the show. I was sad that their story was not continued in season 2, but I hope that in the season 3 they will be developed. If Nate had a redemption arc and sought treatment, he could be a good person. Jules brought out the best in him!

This scene reminds me of a toxic bully in high school who was also a jock. It started because I’m trans, later down the road he reached out to me on fb and told me how he felt about me back then. He really like me and he bullied me because he struggle with his own sexuality identity
I just love how he was a shitty person to everybody the whole two seasons but he can be caring towards Jules. Like buddy, if you like her, f-ing man up, go to therapy, and act like the guy she fell for. But i understand that some people just can’t get that type of help or don’t know what the first step is towards getting help And I’m not saying anything but the actor did a great job at making it seem like his character was in love with jules. You can see it a little at 15:56 ween he looks up at her when she asked if other people besides him have seen the video. If you asks me, I think the writers have been foreshadowing for season 3 and I think that Jules and Nate will propose hookup maybe once but I don’t see it blossoming into a relationship

crazy to think about how jules had already created this much of a connection with him and she promptly rejected him once she found out who "tyler" really was, yet cassie, who has probably never reached anywhere close in terms of emotional depth in her relationship with him, was immediately willing to "ruin her whole life for him" (her words). just goes to show how broken and desperate for male validation cassie is. ofc jules has some of that in her as well but it stems from different issues, I think it's interesting how being w nate was a boundary jules wouldn't cross.

What people don’t realize is this happens to girls and guys ALL THE TIME. we meet someone who seems so sweet and so sincere they “bare there soul” to you and you do the same you share nights of secrets and days of sweet messages but when they see you they don’t give you the time of day and then make up some shitty excuse and your blinded by the “heartfelt” messages they give you. They talk about how they hate getting treated like shit when that’s exactly what they’re doing to you then soon they get bored with you and toss you aside like you never existed. That’s all Nate was doing he used Jules for messed up emotional reasons. Dude needs to get his shit together and leave Jules alone she was just looking for love for someone to finally understand her and all Nate did was lie and use her idc how “sincere” or “sweet” he was he lied and humiliated her the first time they met not to mention his abusive past. Jules needs to see how incredible she is and just walk away.

OK, so I stopped watching nate as soon as he started threatening to blackmail jules with child pornography - it is seriously disturbing, and f ing evil that he would even threaten to do that - and to me that makes him an evil character I could never like, and with whom I could only be completely disgusted - the only people I would ever ship him with now, are prisoners
something i just thought about after watching their story like this: nate didn't know about jules and his dad until jules walked up to their tent and asked for the chile. up until that point, i think nate's intentions with jules were different and as soon as he found out his dad and jules had screwed, he decided to blackmail her. i hadn't thought about this before, but now I'm wondering what would've happened between nate and jules if jules hadn't gone up to the tent and asked for that damn chile.
He couldnt admit his feelings for her, not even to himself. Because he felt he was being just like his dad..but by doing this he became just like him unable to be his true self.

i think in his fucked up mind, he was catfishing jules in order to eventually blackmail her into silence to protect his dad. of course, he actually wanted to talk to jules because he is attracted to her, but i think the lie he was telling himself/maddie/cassie is that he was going undercover to get dirt on someone. Thats why when he goes scorched earth w his dad, he does a 180, meets jules and gives her the tape.
The guy im currently with is like this, that's why i have such a huge attraction to nate and maddie cause everytime i see them i see us. It hurts and it makes me cry because i truly love him, but he shows me everytime why i shouldn't but i continue to just like how maddie is shown that nate is bad for her but she loves him no matter how bad he hurts her or how shitty he makes her feel. Nate is a typical DL guy, he really did like Jules, the page wasn’t to embarrass her or anything, he felt comfortable talking to her, it was after he saw the video of her and his father he lost respect for her, and that uniqueness he felt for her had went away
