Now he's accomplished a lot and has taken Alabama to the Final Four. One of the few coaches in Alabama basketball history that wasn't all talk in their press conference.

I remember his first year was above average. I remember a second year he was ranged. as high as number one. third year was disappointing. And his fourth year he number one teams consecutively not on his home court.. For the first time before the New Year's in 1964 and 65. It's a long season and we need to stay healthy. We can make a run at the national championship. I just watch them beat Houston and wanted to see his press conference again and read the comments.

He's very taken back by everything I mean I think it's kind of overwhelming for him and that's a good sign you know he's human . Avery Johnson seemed like he was a little more at home in the press conference but press conference is don't mean shit and we obviously know that Avery Johnson was not the right man for the job he convinced everybody in the press conference but like I said it's not about that it's about you know doing it on the cord recruiting fundamentals developmental aspect of building these kids into great players. And you know it was short and sweet but he wants to get the ball rolling it's not about promising it's about doing and that's what he's going to do

It's on got a good feeling about Nate he's going to work hard fundamentals developing these kids from high school to SEC elite players bringing this program back to where it was on the top of the SEC West dominating the southeastern Conference.and it's not about being these kids friend it's about being a fatherly figure to them getting on their asses when they need do you have a reality check and then being their friend when they need it most being able to sit down with these kids and pick their brains and talk to him you know like you were their father yeah this is not about the NBA in about these primadonnas you get paid way too much money play for a dime they play for Pride for themselves and for the school the Nate's going to get the ball rolling and you know he's not going to tolerate kids it on a poison the team and I can name a few like John Petty dazon Ingram that we don't need those kind of guys and if we lose Kira Lewis so be it Nate will find better players than these guys.you know and it's all about locking the state that I'm getting the best players from this date and if you can't you got a supplement players from around the country and I think he can do that. You know any we need a new Arena we do but the only way it's going to get built as if we start becoming successful so.he didn't wow me in his press conference but that's not what it's about it's about hitting the road running start recruiting right away start get to know all these players you know start conditioning getting these kids in the weight room turn them into grade A basketball players and getting the support from the community which he will. I don't think we've had a coach like , other than CM Newton and Webb Sanders in a few years and Mark Godfrey that's about the extent of Alabama's basketball program and I think Nate can take it to another level we are a national brand and we deserve to have a good basketball program contrary to what the nation might think.control dispensing with everybody felt the same way about our baseball program the Bradley Bohannon will be the best coach we've ever had in baseball and it's just a matter of time before you know he wins us a national title in baseball and NATOats will do the same thing in basketball the three big Sports in Alabama will finally be relevant.

Well he talks a good game. Lets see it on the court. Anytime a northerner starts talking about "southern hospitality" I cringe as they have culture shock. Like with the previous 2 coaches I wonder about how they'll like it. Saban is from a tiny town in the west va mountains. A lot like Alabama. This guy is a Detroit guy. Family probably is too. I just wonder about their longevity or will they be like Grant and Avery and be begging to get out and head back to the big city.
