It's Maple Leaf Rag (no time on the end). Tell Nate that sounds awesome, nice performance from a young kid like himself! Most youth pianists butcher this one by either playing it too fast or just sloppily in general.

One suggestion, the second strain is marked staccato in the sheet music, it should be played with all the notes rather short and percussive ;) Other than that top notch interpretation!

Nate, I'm gonna suggest something. Try making a recording of this Rag, but use judicious liberal sustain pedal. Just for comparison. This rendition is dry, dare I say TOO dry. But well played, make no doubt!

Good basic playing. Certainly following the score. But I don't think he's got the essence of ragtime, which does quite) follow the score.

This is not the Canadian national anthem.

So close, yet so far. He has talent, but is just...off. About half of the song, there are sync issues, but the timing is off. Listening to this rendition was like listening to someone sing a beautiful song, only iff key and with poor air management. Overall, I did not enjoy this rendition. It basically grated on my ears. If I were rating this rendition on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being highest, I'd give a 2.5. He is clearly enjoying himself, and the presentation is good, if the audio is muted, so, a 3. His fingerwork, posture (considering the roots of this song), and hand positioning are a 2.5. The actual audio is grating, and is a 2, because the piece could have been butchered worse, but I did recognize what he was trying to play. This is a nice piece, as written, but he missed the technical elements, so, another 2.
