I don't know that much about history, but as I listen to this I know there is some history nerd listening along just shaking at comments like, "You could argue John Hancock is only remembered because of this." This conversation was like if you taught a 2nd grade class about the Revolution and then recorded them explaining what they learned. And if that kind of conversation isn't what you're here for, then you aren't a Folk. Incredible show, as usual!

It was so amazing to hear our name and see the prescription bottles my wife made shown the podcast but of COURSE Nate mispronounced my hometown of Muskogee. Most people know how to pronounce it because of the famous song “Okie From Muskogee” but anyway. We have now seen and met Nate and Aaron in person, but we’re wondering when Blowhole is going to make his way to Oklahoma so we can complete the Nateland trifecta!

You know what I find fascinating? You guys could talk about anything. You could all talk about how to pour a glass of milk. You would all laugh while talking about it. The listeners would also be laughing. BUT once you tell a friend the same story it all goes down hill from there. You have to watch or listen to truly understand this podcast. That’s why it’s fascinating.

This comment doesn’t have anything to do with this episode, but half of what the guys talk about never has anything to do with the episode anyways. I just quit my job of 8 years. This week is my last, and I sometimes find myself second guessing my decision. Then I think about Nate saying once you’re comfortable is when you have to leave. So I’m following that advice, and adventuring onto a new path. Thanks Nate, Aaron, and Baloo for all you do!

Aaron recapping the movie National Treasure: The first one is super fun, they steal the Declaration of Independence and find a treasure map on the back of it. Also Aaron: The second one is completely unbelievable, they kidnapped the president. This made me laugh pretty hard that kidnapping the president is where he drew the line on whether or not the movie is believable.

(Peggy in Dallas) One of the funniest episodes yet!! When Nate talked about becoming a Justice and making an amendment that Aaron can never be Pope, I laughed so hard my dog literally thought I was having a seizure and she tried to help me. Imagine how much fun this world would be if Nate was on the Supreme Court, Aaron was pope and Big Man was The Uber driver. We’re a third of the way there. Great show guys!

I love the podcast and Nate's comedy...Hopefully see Aaron and Benchwarmer live sometime. I am also from the Oregon Trail Gen and this is the perfect podcast! Being the same age as Nate, makes being average feel normal! I have also been a comedy fan, but love that it is now in the forefront. I've heard this mentioned on a few episodes, but I do believe it's art, and very similar to jazz musicians. They have their own voice, and create within the same medium...but most days for instance I'm just a drummer, and don't take myself too seriously. Watching Chappelle or Attel/Ross bumping mics made me see it like great jazz musicians. Bumping Mics was like two great showing up at a club and trading solos, like Miles Davis and Charlie Parker. Just like a good album, I can listen to specials like Nates over and over, and hear something different everytime. Thanks for what you do folks!

My maiden name is Hancock, so as a kid I was interested in his story. According to a book I read (elementary school level), these men knew they were committing treason and the King could kill them. Each was hesitant at first and he just said “I don’t care, let him see my name.” The book portrayed him as a hot-headed rebel.

That policy is one of the most intentionally predatory things I have ever seen. There were actually a few different podcasters/streamers who all had the same exact experience, where they couldn't get the membership cancelled. Of course, once all these YT channels started exposing the fact that the gyms were basically refusing to stop billing people, they coincidentally changed their policy and made it slightly less difficult to cancel.

After watching this they will surely have firm understanding of the Bill of Rights and the concept double jeopardy! But seriously, I might show them the moose story. I'll go proofread this now.

I loved the Supreme Court talk! As a LEO in Texas, we always cover Supreme Court cases in training. After 9 years, I’ve become a self described Supreme Court nerd and constantly read and review new and old cases. As the shift Sergeant, my briefing on Saturday always cover important cases for Law Enforcement and I throw out somewhat obscure ones. My guys love it… ok, they don’t, but it’s good information to have.

Hilarious episode. Y’all briefly mentioned dueling, and it felt like a missed opportunity to talk about this: There is still a section of the Tennessee constitution that says you can’t hold public office in the state if you have been involved in a duel. “Any person who shall, after the adoption of this Constitution, fight a duel, or knowingly be the bearer of a challenge to fight a duel, or send or accept a challenge for that purpose, or be an aider or abettor in fighting a duel, shall be deprived of the right to hold any office of honor or profit in this State, and shall be punished otherwise, in such manner as the Legislature may prescribe.” Tennessee Constitution Article IX, Section 3.

John Adam’s said that the VP role was insulting because the VP was not selected the way we do it today. The VP then was just the runner up for President. So could you imagine talking crap about the other candidate for a year or more and then losing and having to work for them. That is insulting.

One of my favorite stories was an American ambassador went to a dinner party in England after the Revolutionary war and the host decided to taunt the ambassador by hanging a portrait of George Washington in the bathroom. After the ambassador returned from the bathroom, the host asked him his opinion of the portrait in the bathroom. The ambassador responded, "Nothing would make a Brit crap faster than seeing George Washington!"

The stories about pants gave me flashbacks to my wedding day last year. Long story short, I forgot to pack my pants the night before, me and my buddies were staying at the venue the night before so we could go golfing there the next morning. I had packed my jacket, thinking my pants were with it. Didn't notice there weren't until about 45ish minutes before the ceremony was supposed to start. Luckily the mall where I got them was 20 minutes away, bad thing, the only pants they had for that suit were two sizes too small and THAT is why in all of our wedding pictures you can clearly see the outline of my briefs clear as day through my pants. It's a funny memory now but it was scary at the time for sure. I'm still trying to convince her we need to frame those pants and hang them like a retired jersey for coming in clutch and saving the day. So far she has refused but I'll keep trying. Thanks for all the laughs on my morning and afternoon commutes and hope to catch y'all live sometime, I'm from NC and currently living near Pittsburgh so it'd be nice to have some fellow Southerners around!

I think Brian just implied that he and Nate are the modern version of Ben Franklin and John Adams. Both pairs needed to vent their frustration of the difficulties traveling together. Judging by the fact Ben Franklin won the argument, I’m guessing he’d be Nate which is fitting! Although I’m not sure if Ben Franklin ever called John Adams a cow, I’d like to think they’d be folks if they were around today! Great episode!
