High-school baseball has always been good in upper northeast Tennessee. Back in the very early 1980's sullivan norrh, sullivan south, kingsport DB,Tennessee high, science hill and Davey crockett were really good programs. I played at volunteer high school. I started in cf but would come in to play catcher when Joey seavers was on the mound. He was one of the best lefty pitchers to come out of northeast Tennessee Tennessee. We had to try hitting off Darren Nottingham who pitched for north snd his fast ball entered the low to mid 90's. Also had to try hitting off brad tunnel who pitched for sullivam south. He threw in high 80's into low 90's in very early 1980 of 1982 period of time. Bobby valentine of kingspoet Mets liked my athletic abilities as a prospect as I was a very fast 5'10" tall 170 lbs kid who could use a wooden bat hitting the ball easily over 350 to 380 feet. I could play every outfield position plus 3 rd base and catcher position as I had a strong arm from growing up slso pitching in my mus teenager years. Wish that we had these baseball academy training facilities in the early 80's as after being out of high school 2 years i grew to stand 6'1" and weighed a solid 225 lbs. I couldbhave crushed a baseball a very long distance having grown that much from age of 17 to turning 19 years old.
