Маккиннон - топовый игрок, а Кучеров - нечто большее.
Even as an Avs fan, I question this. Kuch had more points in fewer games and was the 1st winger to record 100 assists in a season. He also didn't have a strong supporting cast like Mack did.
It's not just about points production. Mack energizes not only his line but the whole team at times. He also consistently wears down opponents, making teammates' life much easier - something Kuch can only dream of, with all due respect to him (and to his Tampa teammates you undervalue massively)
It actually is about politics. Like everything else in life. Kuch was robbed. Facts don't care about feelings. I think Nate is phenomenal also, but Kuch was the clear choice!

Kucherov contributed to over 50% of his teams scoring, and outscored the 2nd leading team scorer by 50 points. Kucherov would have led his team in scoring, without a single goal. This was an entitlement award, what a joke.
MacKinnon had 36 more points than his closest, and only 2 teammates with over 60 pts compared to Kucherov with 4. Kucherov also had the most EN points in NHL history. Meanwhile MacKinnon also had a +35 while Kucherov was +8.
@@termination09 +/- is irrelevant here, they make the Selke for that. Mack having two less 60+ point scorers is also meaningless, considering that Kucherov factored in on over 50% every goal scored this year for Tampa. Can't say the same for Mack huh. There is a reason Kuch has lead his team in scoring for the past 8 straight years. And a reason why he has bested Mack's production over the past 5+ years.
@ADB358 the trophy is for this year; past production doesn't matter at all. And +/- does matter because playing defense matters for being valuable, especially at 5 on 5. I know it's not a great stat but still shows Kucherov does his work on the PP and not as much at 5 on 5. And you can't say that the others' point totals don't matter and then tout Kucherov having 50 more points.
Edmonton had no business in playing in cup finals, and they wouldn't have without Perry luck, so they shouldn't extend him, and get a 1-2 round exit next year
