IT SMOL!
I need you to sit on my seat for this one. This is my first and only(for the moment) National F-560A1. In this video, this fan is operating with its original fan blade that has seen the angle grinder stubby treatment.
Before you point pitchforks at me for chopping down a perfect Matsushita ceiling fan blade, I need to set the scene. Ever since I bought this fan, I've found 2 other bladesets for it. One was from Ponten, and one was from an abandoned kiosk. Both those aforementioned blades didn't have their motors, so I treat them as spares. The blades that came with my first 560A1 were bent & out of alignment, while the other 2 blades are perfectly straight. With that in mind, plus from me wanting to own more 36" ceiling fans, I decided to let my intrusive thoughts win and chop off the bent up blades to make a smaller fan. The cut-offs from this blade is currently used as a vital component in one of my biggest projects so far, which you'll see later on.
Now I'm left with a 36" diameter bladeset, but the motor is still rated to drive 56" blades. It reached peak RPM on speed 3 when I first tested it, so to maximize the untapped potential which is the now overpowered motor, I cranked the blade pitch way up. you can't really see it from a distance, but up close it's quite evident that the pitch has been tinkered, as the proportions are now a bit off. Well of course the whole thing is proportionally off as now the whole contraption looks fat & stubby.
As far as I know, Matsushita never marketed any of their 36" industrial ceiling fans here, at least after Indonesia switched to 220V. I've seen Japanese variants of this fan in RU-vid, check this video out if you don't believe me: ( • パナソニックシーリングファン8 ). They have the previous generation insane pitch blades, and those fans have basically evaded my purchasing power ever since I started collecting ceiling fans. Anyways, because of that, I feel like 36" Matsushita industrials are something of a forbidden fruit for me. One day I had a very strong urge to own one, so instead of scouring markets all over the globe, I chose the easier route which was making one myself!
I have absolutely no regrets in making this fan. At first I hated the stubby look, but it quickly grew on me! The oversized motor coupled with the ridiculously short shallow pitch blades gives it a chubby baby vibe, in a good way. Performance isn't disappointing either, it's about as strong as my SMC K36M.
And of course I had to screw on the motor cover from an EY149 on it to see how it looks. I bet you've never seen a 36" National F-EY099 before!
