Also even though the country has rarely existed the identity was still there. Ukrainians are a people descended from a mix of Poles,Early Slavs, and various central Asians with some influence from Russia due to the long period of Russian rule. Ukrainian were the Cossacks as well, Also known as the strongest military force in the Russian Empire and had rebelled from Poland and Russia before.

I'm from Novorossiya, Odessa. Most likely they will separate Novorossiya from the rest of Ukraine somehow, a federalization maybe with later Union State including Belarus. The best option for me is a separate state of course, but the idea of Novorossia is with Donbass as a part of it, they'll probably make DPR and LPR federal subjects soon after war as a reward, we don't deserve it tbh. The territory is too poor comparing to the mainland Russia, Crimea for example is in Russian top 5 most invested regions for all these 8 years. Novorossiya is 7 times bigger with infrastructure like pipes, railroads, medicine and houses destroyed by the absence of the Ukrainian state + war damage. Novorossiya without Donbass is fine too but i don't see where they will find adequate ppl to rule it. Ukrainian civil servants are corrupted as hell, they don't see a state as a common cause for everyone's well-being but as a feeder to their families in the first place. In Crimea they still struggle with this philosophy of local state employees, they don't do anything. Moscow gives guidance - they do it like they did in Ukraine, Moscow has to send its people to do the job. Federal programs are done perfect while locals do nothing. Big roads, the bridge, hospitals, national projects are done by federals while Crimean cities can't even get themselves normal parks. Same implies for LDPR which were often called Band Republics at first. I don't want this land to become a part of Russia too quickly. I want people to see the difference between the territories included in the Federation and the territories that struggle on their own. Independence is shit but people should evolve to this thought.

@@missk1697 I beleive the most realistic route for Russia is to destroy all the bridges across the Dnieper river and just take over everything to the east by traveling along the side of the river, before encircling Ukraine's eastern forces inside. From there, Russia should call a truce. I know Russia does want to pursue a union with Belarus, and having Ukraine's Northeast stab into Russia will be a security risk for Russia, so again it makes the most sense for Russia to take Ukraine east of the Dnieper. Even if Odessa was annexed in a best case scenario for Russia, a rump Ukrainian State composed of only the current country's north would still be able to conduct it's trade through Europe, which I imagine Europe will be more than happy to allow.
