I'm Indonesian, but I don't know why when I hear the Philippine national anthem I feel like I'm going to a battlefield, with a rhythm like that it feels like I'm going to keep attacking the enemy even though lots of bullets penetrate my body! It's very powerful Anthem!

Originally, the composer or I think the president at that time it was created, they wanted it to sound like a military marching band. That's why the beat is like that, it's a like a marching band. A marching song.

Philippine national anthem is a war-time march to bind Filipinos fighting in the battlefield to the last breath. Had it been composed in a peaceful time, it could have been a Kundiman or a ballad of what a Filipino spirit is.

"Indonesia Raya" or "Great Indonesia" is absolutely one of the most beautiful national anthem in the world, the rhythm fulfilled with energetic uplifting melodic 🇮🇩❤️ especially when you heard of it in the football stadium 👍🏝️

But, I think "Great Indonesia" at least expresses the similar feeling. Because the meaning of the word "raya" itself is different from the meaning of the word raya in "Indonesia Raya" Feel free to tell us the better words

@@jasmines3490 Wow. No wonder. I heard that the language in the Phillippine sounds a bit similar to some Indonesian local languages. It's an interesting approach 👍 "Raya" in Indonesian (or malay as well) is commonly used to call a day of celebration (esp. a religion big event) or we can consider it as "a praying word for the existency, the glory, and the joy of our motherland" Glory means "jaya/kejayaan" in Indonesian. But, "raya" feels more complex than "jaya"

Fun fact: The Philippine national anthem was originally written in spanish called Marcha Nacional Filipina during the Philippine revolution. Then it was briefly banned during the american occupation then it was translated to English before it was translated to Tagalog that what we all know today.😊

Sempat di-"salahgunakan"; waktu sy nonton Java Jazz th2000-an akhir, ada artis yg telat abis. Menteri gakjelassiapagitu ditongolin panitia tapi malah disorakin penonton. Semakin ricuh, panitia punya ide hebat -disetel aja lagu Indonesia Raya. Ya sudah, seluruh ruangan konser ikutan nyanyi, pada tertib dan mood naik lagi. Malah pada tepuk tangan😁 (Edit) English: The Indonesia Raya was "abused" at least once; I was attending the Java Jazz concert in the late 2000s. A group of musicians were coming in pretty late. The concert goers were getting impatient and a bit rowdy. So the committee got a minister of something to give a speech. The audience immediately getting more restless and booing whatsisname. But the committe had a smart idea to put on the national anthem. Lo and behold, everybody started singing, clapping hands and order was restored.

I wanna know, in your history, were you also oppressed or occupied by a western country? I mean just like here in the Philippines, we were oppressed and exploited by Spain for 300+ years from 1500+ to 1800+ and then Spain sold us to the Americans in the late 1800+, early 1900+ the Americans started exploiting us and then 1940-1945 I think, Japan also invaded us. It was tragic, our motherland Philippines has gone through a lot of hardships.

@@EricOrenciada Portuguese and The Netherlands along with English and Spanish, if I'm not mistaken, established trade in the 1500s, by the 1600s we were colonized by the Dutch (The Dutch East-Indies Company/ VOC paved the way) and in 1942 The Japanese invaded Indonesia. As I believe The Philippines had also experienced, other than massive exploitations, inequalities etc, brutalities were also present during those times. Yes, it was 300+ years for us too.

Lagu Bagimu Negeri juga bisa bikin nangis, apalagi kl di negeri orang. Cuma pendek dan psikisnya lebih ke kesedihan (cocok kalau mau bertarung dlm pertandingan/bersiap mati dalam medan tempur). Kalau Indonesia Raya lbh komplit, ada unsur grande dan semangatnya untuk jd pemenang.

The Philippine anthem aounds powerful and militaristic because it was composed at the height of the Revolution against Spain and the War of Independence against the Americans. It was meant to rouse the people to fight for freedom against tyrrany and foreign domination. But before that anthem "Lupang Hinirang (Chosen Land)", there was another practically unknown de facto national anthem written at the start of the Revolution that sounds subtle and hopeful, but the lyrics are even more powerful than what we have now, the "Marangal na Dalit ng Katagalugan (Noble Hymn of the Tagalog Nation), but it would be very controversial if it had been our anthem, because other non-Tagalog Filipinos will not want and undertand its story.

Walaupun melodinya diambil dari lagu negara luar (perancis) , namun liriknya adalah asli , dikarang oleh raja ngah mansur . Dan lirik negaraku dikarang oleh saiful bahri , seorang kelahiran sumatera . Lagu negaraku nadanya diambil dari lagu Terang Bulan. Maka itu waktu di kepemimpinan Pak Soekarno, begitu lagu "negaraku* ini mirip dengan lagu "Terang Bulan Indonesia", maka kami pun dilarang menyanyikan lagu Terang bulan lagi. Mungkin karena nadanya sudah diklaim menjadi lagu kebangsaan Malaysia. (Itu berdasarkan cerita Bapak Ibu dan Kakek Nenek saya, di mana mereka masih mengalami masa itu).

Ngawur. Indonesia Raya pertama kali diperdengarkan ke publik thn 1928. Berarti lagu ini ditulis oleh WR Supratman di tahun itu atau sebelumnya. Pada saat Kongres Pemuda. Jauh sebelum negara kita merdeka. Perjuangan pemuda di Surabaya itu pada saat kita sudah bernegara dan sudah merdeka.
