What an awesome trip down memory lane! I miss all these guys. The Asashoryu vs Choyotaikai bouts used to be intense, wow. And then later on, of course, came the Asa vs Haku bouts :D

Damn Asashoryu had to go through 5 ozekis and an upcoming hakuho. Asashoryu was the best. Also before he was yokozuna he had to go up against 3 yokozunas on Akebono Musashimaru and Takanohana
@@noahwellbrock-talley6006 To be fair, he only fought him twice while still a kid, while Takanohana was a veteran. Hakuho also lost all his early bouts against Asa... Hakuho had tougher competition. He not only had Asa to deal with, he basically delayed 4 yokozuna level guys from getting their promotions for years!
Promotion to ozeki. Hakuho became an ozeki in May 2006. The man next to Hakuho is his (now former, since he was dismissed) stablemaster, Miyagino-oyakata, former Juryo wrestler Kanechika. The woman is the okamisan (the stablemaster's wife). The men on the other side are also oyakata, sent by the Japan Sumo Association to devliver the news of Hakuho's promotion. The ceremony is basicly the same when it's a yokozuna promotion as well.
