I hope this starts to happen even more in australia. They close down race tracks to build housing estates and shut down purpose build burnout pads. No wonder people take it to the streets there is no where else.
The police should keep maintaining lisfs of the individuals involved. They should then start picking them off a few at a time. That means giving them a warning, and ceasing their car if they return. There should be no chases like happened when the innocent couple were killed. That was down to the Police Commander, and maybe the Minister of Police also, not anyone else. The idea is to keep on taking awat the racers until there are no more. It means being sensible and patient.
i feel sorry for these young guys. we all did it 2 back in our day! The reasons they do it on the street is A: no local race track, B: they cant afford the ridiculous fees the race track charge C:they cant afford a full track spec car motorsport NZ requires u 2 have. car crushing is not a good idea, do you think there going to pull over if they know there car is going to be crushed? NO, they will end up taking someone/themselves out all over a stupid law
the only reason chch has such a bad racer problem is that the council hasn't done stuff all for the racers in chch. other citys have given them a place to go and do skids legally but bob parker and the CCC are just aids and have made the problem worse. It'll be interesting how the problem is going to be curbed without attacking the rights of law abiding ave lapers. chea for the vid.
That Cop talking trash like that is just going to escalate things. used to be skate-boarders were a menace, but they built skate parks etc, build a 1/4mile strip and a burnout pad, come-on chch city council sort the problem, instead of letting officer plod run his mouth..
Boy Racer's LMAO!!!! We call them Hoon's or petrol heads but Boy Racers is classic NZ. Why is there no open race track to let out the need to speed. People are never going to stop fixing and modifying cars and after they do they are going to use what they create to appreciate their work. If they have access to an open public race track with safety restrictions (roll cages, harness belts, etc), which is really not much they wont have to do it on the street and it is then a sport not a crime.
"cops will make life even more miserable for boy racers" hmm kind of like saying that their life is miserable already. doubt that. I think you mean. That the cops 'will' make boy racers lives miserable.
It dont make it right to threaten the cops, but still they should have a place out of the way to do what they do, and the race cars and show cars are an intigral part of the auto industry, without them the markets would be worse off, better yet move to germany and hit south bavaria where there is no speedlimits on the autobahn. it dont make it right to break a law but If they give them an outlet for it it would cut down on the danger and riff raff and everyone will be happy
