Thanks for posting some really nice cars Don't agree with some of the comments as a car build it's what the owner wants and not some one who doesn't understand individuality be boring if all were ford powered and blue ah.
SEXIEST CAR EVER MADE. Second to none. RAW power. RAW sound. Almost unreal. So many variations of this car you can't go wrong!! Have fun Cobra lovers! I'll see you this SUMMER!
Hi , could anyone tell me the name of the builder of the grey cobra with the brown interior ? ( it's the car in the main picture of this video) thanks !
Not that I have a reason to, but I still can't get used to the idea of driving from the right seat, especially with a manual transmission. Feels weird to even think about it. Doesn't mean I wouldn't try it though!
I have always Wanted 1 of these since I was a kid and now that make a great living own my business can anyone tell me what the price range from the low to high is on these Kitt Cars?
Go to AC Cobra Facebook group for best info & friendly advice. Also, someone there always got one for sale. My guess is £20,000 to £50,000 depending if self build or buy ready made. 😎 I have a 289 more class than a boy racer 427 in my opinion.
The diagonal roll bar brace was used on the early 289 FIA. The aft bracing was used on all the later cars, though it angled outward, not straight back like some of these british replicas.
In fact the Factory Five cars are done with the specs of the real car by a program written for Factory Five by Hewlet Packard. The aluminum cars were Henry Ford's to miff the fiberglass Corvette of Chevrolet, per the book " Go Like Hell". Shelby preferred fiberglass over aluminum, because it is lighter and easier to work with. Aluminum is harder to paint, like Acura's NSX. Factory Five makes a great car at a great price and is really into racing.they are great cars in the 351 Windsor or the 427 Windsor. The side oilers are hard to find are usually only good for racing. The 289 is good or the 302, but the 5.8 liter 351 Windsor is the perfect match in indigo blue with white strips #98 Shelby's favorite number. Dick Smith's car in Riverside, Ca. went 198. 47 miles per hour.
Probably because if you have “a real deal” Cobra, you won’t modify it to these level to keep the highest possible value. If you have a KitCobra, you would do anything, cause it will be personalized to your taste. I mean “you” as anybody!! But it’s really true. Those Kits look to another level.
Absolutely, considering the technology today is light years ahead of what they had available to them at the time. Which is why I do not understand the snob purist that like to use the term "Kit Car" in a derogatory manner.
@@larrywilliams7993 I'm not sure if you meant it that way, but he Factory 5 chassis looks nothing like the original. The original was quite a loose chassis. And don't believe all the hype on Factory Five, particularly when it comes to body finish. You can't use the body without a LOT of sanding and filling. They are rough in that respect.
Hi the brands of cobra kit cars are, AKsportscars.co.uk , Hawkcars.co.uk, and Gardner Douglas their website gdcars.com if you watch carefully you can see the company names on or by the cars hope this helps ...
2nd and 3rd of May 2020 is the next show at stoneleigh uk check out my 2018 and 2019 national kit car show videos and cobra videos on my channel thanks for watching.. @youtubemotorsmania4k for more.
Really sweet, How much are these kit cars that are already put together ? like the blue one that is for sale at 1:00. or the white one at 1:42 or the red one at 2:05 or the other blue one at 4:45
If you want to buy a used kit DAX 427 kit car with a V8 engine they cost about £50,000 - they have the best quality finish. If you built it from a kit it would cost about £35,000. Kits are from JK Sports Cars. At the bottom end of the range you have the Pilgrim Sumo is another kit car Cobra replica, from Pilgrim motorsports. It's not as good as the DAX (they don't use chrome brightwork). You can get one of those used, with a small engine for £20,000 - looks the part but doesn't sound the part. You gets what ya pays for.
I wouldn't want a right side drive car , ... but that's just me ... by the way , I love cobras, especially if they have a 454 ci. ford under the hood ... I know, I know , LS power plants are way more reliable than an old 454 , but ...once the engine runs , you feel a lot of torque ....
If I got to choose and 200k is my budget because AC Cobra is the only car I ever want, it definitely be gunmetal color, no stripe, 22 inch halley wheel with 5 inch machine polish and gunmetal spokes. Tubbed rear quarters for 22 - 20 wheel for traction. Light brown with new audi stitching pattern interior with multicolored glowing can be adjustable by phone. All gauges in center console with 12 inches ipad to support all engine dianogstic and music and internet. I know this is not usual cobra fans care about, but if I'm daily my cobra I would want nice sound system. 6-9 center dash, Doors- tweeters - 8 inches mids Back center - 12 inches free air sub and 6-9 8 channels 2000 watts amp, with 10,000 ways to adjust EQ on ipad. Engine- mustang GT 350 flat crank rev to 8k paddle shift (sacrelegous I know lol) 600 whp 4wd, 4 wheel steering (that the first). Small thick light color wooden steering wheel with aluminum spokes to match with all aluminum speakers covers. Suspension- air Underneath- all buttons up with skid plates. Rear - diffuser but rounded off to match with body line. Red diffusers fins to abstract the gunmetal color. Exhausts - titanium and copper Fenders- vented for brakes cooler Front- carbon fiber splitter Hood- aston Martin vents on 2 side (real vent) Brakes- cross drill 15 inch 6 calibers Light - LED Blue , fog light amber, taillight. Btw I want bench bucket massage seats ( bench seats with two dips on both side) you know what that for lol. Frame- strongest frame I know most of you would say wtf that is not pure, that's not real. I know, but I hope one day I CAn bring my dream car home. I would polish her every day
I don't know if anyone realizes this but Carol and the boys never built an original Cobra with right hand drive. I would think that a real purist would want a genuine left hand drive Cobra. I mean, it would be like me wanting a Caterham with left hand drive. Even though I would be driving it here in the States, I would still have a right hand drive Caterham because that's what the original Lotus had. It just seems somewhat sacrilegious. LOL
Can put a GM motor and a cobra is almost as dumb as thinking it's okay for the queen to own the Ducks and the animals at the zoo in the UK as well as the public parks.... I'm glad I don't live there that's for sure. I'd make sure to not put hot sauce on your fish and chips, the queen doesn't eat them that way!!!
First off,I'm a diehard Ford man. BUT,in a replica car that you just want to DTSOF,GM cheap small high power weight to ratio SBC engines just make sense. You aren't rebuilding a classic car here. You just want a fun high powered relatively inexpensive engine to power it. Don't get me wrong, putting a 427 side oiler with screw-in freeze plugs and a crank-driven dry sump oil system would be cool, but only when you lift the hood to show it off. If you want to talk about about heartbreak, throw a rod and break the crank and destroy the block with a over-rev on a missed shift!(come on,we've all did that once or twice. That's why my Boss 351 has a factory rev limiter!) With a SBC under the hood, not the caliber of disaster of the FEL. Remember,,it's a REPLICA!,not a purist shrine to Carroll Shelby. (He wanted a SBC to start with but GM would not sell to him) The fun is in having a great performing car that didn't break the bank and is just as fast(or faster)than a FEL big heavy block engine.
ahh, right hand side steering wheels🤤 Idk why it gives me such an awkward boner. Prolly cause I live in the uk and cars like these usually dont come in the right.
You can spec anything you want on these beauties except an actual glovebox..😁 Imagine if you dared spec a cup holder!😆😆😆 Edit: Loads of glove boxes later in video🤦🏻♂️
Don't these people know that its a crime against humanity to put an LS or Gen1 SBC in one of Ford's legendary icons? Are they putting Hemis in Corvettes as well.
Todd Johnson, Don't some people realize that Shelby first wanted to buy engines from Chevrolet, but Chevy turned him down, so Ford was his 2nd choice !!! All of these home built kit cars, Ford Motor Company has nothing at all to do with them . Why should hobbyists have a "life sentence" and have to install a Ford motor in their cars if they really prefer another brand ?? Not every Cobra owner gets on their knees and worships FOMOCO . I guarantee you, back in the day, if Shelby had his choice between a 60 year old technology , 700+ lbs 427FE, 5500 rpm motor, or and an all aluminum 400 lbs, 7000 rpm LS7 427, we all know which motor he'd pick . It's not a "crime against humanity", you are only thinking emotionally rather than what's a more technologically advanced power plant . Cheers
@@kumaquattro It's still the WRONG make of engine and it cheapens the car. Just like the double roll bars and the 17" wheels and tires. It all screams "shitty garage build"!
A lot of comments here as to why someone would put a GM motor in the cobra. Years ago I knew somebody that built cobra replicas and put Chevy motors in them because he said they had a better power to weight ratio and so handled much better. Also at the time (mid 90’s) it was much much cheaper to get power out of a Chevy than a Ford but I have no idea what it’s like now.
These are not Shelby's! Theyy are replicas of the Brit car Shelby upgraded the mechanics of. What kind of a dumb-ass would call the concept of putting a GM engines into one as making it worthless trash!?! Geez! Amateurs! Really. . . Something so pretty should only have the best. So, they should have 4-cylinder inline Toyotas. . . Obviously! Maybe a 1.5 or 2.0?
Oh dear .. These cars are really true "copies" The dash is wrong, the scoop is ridiculous, The wheels have nuts and there is too much bling. Nice paint jobs but the cars are lame as.
